The so-called affordability credits they write would continue under the Ellsworth Amendment.

<a href="http://www.all.org/newsroom_judieblog.php?id=2833" target=_blank">Judie Brown at the American Life League blog exposes the fact that reprogrammed cells from umbilical-cord blood could be used for research which is currently being done using human embryonic stem cells.

Disturbingly, the basis for this new approach relies upon the prior killing of pre-born children so that their stem-cells can be examined and then replicated. And it gets even worse, with "embryo-splitting" possibly resulting in multiple genetically identical siblings.

<a href="http://jakubczykonlife.blogspot.com/2009/11/hippocratic-oath-classical-version-and.html" target=_blank">Jakubczyk on Life brings us up to speed on the <a href="http://www.members.tripod.com/nktiuro/hippocra.htm" target=_blank">Hippocratic (or possibly "hypocritical") Oath. Comparing the classical and modern versions of the oath that all doctors (including abortionists) must swear to before being instated, John shows that there is no difference. Abortionists are therefore all hypocrites as well as murderers.

The apparent problem: Democrats have yet to resolve intraparty disputes over abortion funding and illegal immigrants' access to health care.

[Rep. Steny] Hoyer (D) sought to pin the blame for any possible slippage on delaying tactics expected from Republicans, who unanimously oppose the health care remake. But he acknowledged that Democrats are still short of the 218 votes they need to pass the bill....

"There are many people who are still trying to get a comfort level that this is the right thing to do," said Hoyer. "We're very close."....

Asked Thursday if she had the votes, Speaker Nancy Pelosi replied: "We will."....

Democrats were trying to toughen prohibitions in the bill against federal funding for abortions in a way that would satisfy enough anti-abortion Democrats. The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops was involved in the talks and a resolution appeared within reach late Thursday.

And one has to wonder if the general public even realizes this little gem of a fact--that health care isn't free:
For the first time, almost all individuals would be required to purchase insurance or pay a fine, and employers would be required to insure their employees....

The FL Agency for Health Care Administration has shut down the <a href="http://www.realpagessites.com/chc/about-community-healthcare-center.html" target=_blank">Community Healthcare Center in Pensacola, FL, after it couldn't cough up $413k in fines for failing to renew a lab license for 413 days.

The AHCA served ample notice to the 25+ year old abortion mill in January, but when it hadn't settled its bill 10 months after the fact, the clinic "voluntarily" closed its doors October 30, according to AHCA via <a href="http://www.pnj.com/article/20091105/NEWS01/91105028" target=_blank">PNJ.com, after AHCA paid it a shakedown visit on October 20.

Too bad, so sad, PNJ.com also reports:

The closure leaves AMS of Pensacola... as the only abortion clinic in Escambia County.

<a href="http://www.40daysforlife.com/" target=_blank">40 Days for Life was keeping vigil at the mill during that time. What great news to learn on Day 38!

As an aside, this particular mill has a <a href="http://www.pnj.com/article/20091106/NEWS01/911060316" target=_blank">sordid history. It's where Paul Hill in 1995 killed abortionist John Britton and deathscort James Barrett.

The above is a shot of the wild scene outside Nancy Pelosi's office yesterday afternoon, as described in <a href="http://thehill.com/homenews/house/66657-thousands-of-protesters-pay-a-capitol-house-call" target=_blank">The Hill last night...

Conservative protesters chanting "Kill that bill!" stormed the Capitol on Thursday as Republicans launched a last-ditch effort against the Democrats' healthcare bill.

The protesters from around the country entered House office buildings after attending the "House Call" rally on healthcare, largely the brainchild of Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN)....

It is unclear how many people attended the event, thought the protesters appeared to number in the thousands. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) estimated 10k attended.

Our own Bethany's parents even attended the House Call rally! Attendees were encouraged to take a page from the 2k page healthcare bill to their congressperson's office and demand s/he explain it. At Pelosi's office, though, people crumpled theirs and trashed it...

Look closely at that still shot. Code Pink counter-demonstrators were standing to the left outside Pelosi's office door, but staging his own personal sit-in inside was Fr. Norman Weslin, who we last saw <a href="http://www.jillstanek.com/archives/2009/05/video_of_elderl.html" target=_blank">being arrested at Notre Dame.

When I read NBC's Law & Order was airing an episode last week "ripped from the headlines" of an abortionist shot in church, i.e., Dr. George Tiller, I, of course, anticipated the plot would not go well for pro-lifers. The most I expected was milliseconds of fairness with pro-abortion clichés ruling the hour.

My, was I surprised. I could have written that script. The episode wasn't even balanced. It was outright pro-life, not that I mind.

If you haven't seen the episode, <a href="http://www.casttv.com/shows/law-order/dignity/sv83dv1" target=_blank">you should. Sans commercials it is only 42 minutes long....

Pro-abort reaction was swift and harsh. Sarah Seltzer at the Ted-Turner-funded blog <a href="http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/blog/2009/10/28/the-law-and-order-abortion-disaster-and-the-wasteland-tv" target=_blank">RH Reality Check called the episode an "abortion disaster" and "wasteland of TV."

Kate Harding at <a href="http://www.salon.com/mwt/broadsheet/feature/2009/10/24/law_and_order_tiller/" target=_blank">Salon accused NBC of spreading "anti-choice propaganda" and "smear[ing] the memory of... Dr. Tiller."

<a href="http://www.msmagazine.com/Fall2009/dignity.asp" target=_blank">Ms. Magazine was "appalled by this second assassination" of Dr. Tiller, calling the show "shocking" and "insensitive."...

Jennifer Boulangerat <a href="http://womenandhollywood.com/2009/10/27/guest-post-law-and-order-imparts-no-diginity-for-women/" target=_blank">Women and Hollywood called the show "deeply stigmatizing" and "rife with medical inaccuracies."

On and on.

The question is: How did this story line come to pass?....

Then there was this, posted 6p ET tonight, entitled, "Pelosi breaks pledge to put final health care bill online for 72 hours before vote"...

Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office tells <a href="http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/11/pelosi_breaks_pledge_to_put_he.asp" target=_blank">The Weekly Standard that the speaker will not allow the final language of the health care to be posted online for 72 hours before bringing the bill to a vote on the House floor, despite her September 24 statement that she was "absolutely" committed to doing so.

House members are still negotiating important issues in the bill - whether it will provide taxpayer-funding for abortions, for example. Pelosi is pushing for a Saturday House vote, and a number of big changes will be introduced, likely less than 24 hours before the vote takes place (if in fact it does)....

National Right to Life's <a href="http://nrlc.org/AHC/DemRulePloy.html" target=_blank">Douglas Johnson has issued a statement on Congressman Ellsworth's "compromise" language in health care reform:

"Any House member who votes for the Pelosi rule is voting to establish a federal government insurance plan, the public option, that the bill explicitly authorizes to pay for all elective abortions. When a federal agency pays for abortions, that is federal funding of abortion in reality, whatever contrived labels Speaker Pelosi or her acolytes slap over it....

The Ellsworth language is a political fig leaf made out of cellophane -- it directs the federal Secretary of Health to hire a contractor to deliver to abortion providers the payments for elective abortions, payments that are explicitly authorized by the bill [on page 110]. This is a money-laundering scheme -- a federally funded 'bag man' will deliver government funds to abortionists. This is federal funding of elective abortion."

The <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/05/health/policy/05health.html" target=_blank">New York Times also has an article on this issue. I'm struggling to understand why paying a private contractor to handle public funds to pay for abortions would alleviate pro-life concerns.

Boyd said. "Yes, I am. I know that." Boyd said he is an ordained Baptist minister who has now turned Unitarian. He said he prays often.

"I'll ask that the spirit of this pregnancy be returned to God with love and understanding," he said.

If the name sounds familiar it's because Boyd is a long time abortionist who even <a href="http://www.prch.org/curtis-boyd-md" target=_blank">admits to performing illegal abortions before Roe v. Wade. He had a clinic in NM <a href="http://www.koat.com/news/18435193/detail.html" target=_blank">which was damaged in 2007 after a disgruntled father, upset about his girlfriend's planned abortion, set fire to it.

New Zealand researcher David Fergusson has another study out which concludes that abortion ""leads to significant distress in some" women. The study was published in the British Journal of Psychiatry and the <a href="http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10607135" target=_blank">New Zealand Herald has an article on it:

The study found that women who reported at least one negative reaction had rates of mental health problems "approximately 1.4 to 1.8 times higher than women not exposed to abortion".

The report concluded: "This evidence raises important questions about the practice of justifying termination of pregnancy on the grounds that this procedure will reduce risks of mental health problems in women having unwanted pregnancy....

It said the findings did not support the extremes of either the pro-abortion, or pro-life camps. They were "not consistent with strong pro-life positions that depict unwanted pregnancy terminated by abortion as having devastating consequences for women's mental health".

Nor did they "support strong pro-choice positions that claim unwanted pregnancy terminated by abortion is without mental health risks".
