... The American baby-boomer is the wealthiest generation of people in the history of the world and they spent money like there was no tomorrow. In that process, they created an economy that was (a) the envy of the world and (b) completely dependent on that level of spending in order to survive. While doing this, however, they aborted more than 1/4 of the next generation of consumers. This guaranteed that, once the baby-boomers started reaching retirement, the spending frenzy of the last 40 years would be over. And now, that is precisely what has happened. In 2008, baby-boomers began reaching retirement age, the sales of cars and houses plummeted and that put the entire economy into a tailspin. Further, we are just at the very beginning of this phenomenon. By any realistic measure, there is a financial tsunami rolling toward the US that will make our current environment seem like "the good ole' days." From now until 2026, baby-boomers are going to reach retirement age at the rate of 10,000 a day! And even if we learn how to live with less consumer spending, the effect of that is going to bankrupt our social services infrastructure. One obvious place you can see this is in the area of Social Security.... The designers of Social Security based it on an assumption of an ever-growing, or at least stable, workforce. They could not have foreseen that America would one day legalize the wholesale slaughter of its own children.... The result has been that, over the last 36 years, over 25% of the taxpayers needed to replace the money baby-boomers paid into the system were executed.
To appreciate the impact of this, consider that since abortion has been legal, birth rates in the US have often been below replacement levels. In fact, if one removes immigration from the census figures, America's population has been at best flat or, by most reliable estimates, in decline. For the Social Security system, that has been a disaster waiting to happen and the wait ended in 2008. Like nations all over the world, America is beginning to discover why the shrinking populations they wanted are a barometer of economic disaster.
... Having said that, however, we should never reduce the abortion debate to one solely based on economics. Even if this holocaust had lined our streets in gold, it could still never be justified.... Let's not forget that a generation that killed its own children whenever it found them inconvenient, unhealthy or expensive is now entering a stage of life when it will soon become inconvenient, unhealthy and expensive. The survivors of a generation whose fate was in our hands, will soon have our fate in theirs.
... [P]ro-life groups warned that the FOCA provisions to expand abortion and force us to pay for it would be snuck in under another bill.
... The health care reform bills now being finalized in Congress are going to end up mandating the federal funding of abortion without even mentioning the word -- unless Congress explicitly excludes abortion. And that's what we have to urge them to do. Otherwise, we will end up with a health care reform bill that will expand abortion more radically than anything since Roe vs. Wade.
Abortion, of course, is not health care and has nothing to do with health care. After all, what disease does abortion cure? None. And what proven medical benefit comes from the procedure? Again, none.
... On July 17, 2007... Barack Obama said to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, "Reproductive care is essential care, basic care so it is at the center, the heart of the plan that I propose...insurers are going to have to abide by the same rules in terms of providing comprehensive care, including reproductive care...that's going to be absolutely vital."
And Hillary Clinton said the following to the House Foreign Affairs Committee on April 22, 2009: "Reproductive health includes access to abortion..."
... Congressman Chris Smith pointed out in a June 26 letter to colleagues in Congress, "Without abortion explicitly excluded from any government mandated or government funded benefits package, abortion will be included. Time and again, bureaucrats and courts have decided that abortion must be included in public health programs unless the Congress explicitly provides otherwise...."
Without such an exclusion in health care reform legislation, federal officials would be empowered to mandate coverage of abortion in virtually all health plans; massive federal subsidies would be provided for abortion on demand; an expansion of abortion providers would be required; and at least some state abortion regulations would be nullified.
House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) spoke on the floor today about the Restore Our American Mustangs Act (H.R. 1018), a $700 million welfare program for horses and burros.
He addresses today's vote for burros in comparison to last night's vote to allow taxpayer funds for abortions in DC.
From the transcript of his speech:
Let's get this straight. We're debating a bill to spend millions of dollars to save wild horses, but yesterday, Democrats in the House blocked Republicans from offering an amendment to prevent federal dollars from being spent on saving unborn children.
Oh yeah, $700 million today to save wild horses and burros - and yesterday we weren't allowed to offer an amendment to save the lives of unborn kids. That doesn't make sense to me, but I think most of my constituents would look up and go, well, that's just Washington being Washington.

I have always maintained that abortion will come back to bite feminists in ways they could never have imagined:
broken marriages leading to loneliness and singleness in old age
selective abortion of females
What goes around, comes around. The utilitarian philosophy that we had towards our children as demonstrated by abortion will be repaid a hundred-fold towards us in euthanasia.Posted by: angel at July 20, 2009 6:34 PM
If we must use our taxpayer funds to finance abortion, I say we stop paying taxes. I just do not know how I can allow myself to be complicit in the murder of pre-born Americans.Posted by: xalisae at July 20, 2009 7:29 PM
this is very much like the burned fields policy that faced the German conquering army during WW II as it attacked Russia - or so it seems. But, is this not a modern form of national suicide, with a penchant to 'end it all' quickly?Posted by: John McDonell at July 20, 2009 7:30 PM
Your post reminds me of an old adage and I'm not certain who said it.
When the gods want to punish man, they answer their prayers, soooo, be very careful what you wish for.
BTW this has no religious connotation, I just like the saying. It definitely seems to apply to your post.

what a disgrace, how did these people get electedPosted by: Jasper at July 20, 2009 9:24 PM
Jasper, I think O'Bama's trying to emulate Mitt Romney's universal health care plan, that includes fifty dollar co-pay for abortions. And, Romney defended this plan, last month, during an event at the Mass. State House.Posted by: Mballentine at July 20, 2009 10:10 PM

Where is the church?
Where are the men of God?
Does anyone attend a church where the Pastor is condemning these spineless, depraved narcissistic politicians from the pulpit with boldness and righteous indignation?
Where is God's Church?
Where is the fire?
Where is the hatred and comtempt for sin?
Where is the fighting, overcoming spirit possessed by Joshua, Caleb and David when he ran to the battle.
Where is the passion to save the lost and to serve and protect the weak and the vulnerable?
WHERE IS THE CHURCH!?!?!?Posted by: Ed at July 20, 2009 11:20 PM
There is no question, bo has a charismatic gift which he is abusing to ram through his very destructive policies. (I can't even capitalize his initials anymore, I have such little respect for the clueless twit.)
His evil and vicious attacks on the precious unborn and newly born children of this generation is unprecedented in its severity and scope. Thankfully, it has begun to stir up the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ to a militant response in Pro-life advocacy. In the same manner, I pray that His Church arises with holy boldness, fierce determination and unyielding resolve to confront the overflow of wickedness in our culture and our government.
May Almighty God use the violent prayers of His People to shake the foundations of our nation and government, until the Holy Fear of God is restored in our elected officials and across the land.
Like Belshazzar's Feast, may the foolish and irresponsible prating around of our President be brought to a swift conclusion, and may Righteousness, Holiness and Excellence of Service once again be the virtues that characterize our government officials.
In Jesus Mighty Name I pray, Amen.Posted by: Ed at July 21, 2009 12:19 AM
Would you be so kind as to correct my grammer. It's 1:24 AM & I'm a little punchy.
"His evil and vicious attacks on the precious unborn and newly born children of this generation "are" unprecedented in "their" severity and scope."
"Thankfully, "they have" begun..."

(sorry to repost this so much, but Prochoicer has mysteriously disappeared, and I will not rest until I have an answer to this. As always, delete if you see fit to do so, mods.)
"A fetus is using another individual's body to survive. I don't think any entity has the right to do that against the other individual's will, even if innocently."
Wrong. There is no "innocent" or "guilty" about it, since the fetal human is there without intention-placed there by the willful actions of either mother, father, or a joint effort. This happens through no fault of the offspring itself. There is no such thing as "accidental sex". I don't find myself walking down the street, trip over a rock, and WHOOPS! pregnant again! Shucks. If a fetal human is in a postion that makes it require the nutrients and protection of its mother, that is the result of a concerted effort on the part of SOMEONE. And any effort THAT intensive (I don't know about your sex life, but for me it requires at least a bit of effort to accomplish) implies a willful act. It's neither my fault nor the fault of a fetal human that some people seem to find themselves completely ignorant of the results of the act of sex after the fact, and neither of us should be allowed to be killed legally as a consequence.
"But any one who is born ought to have a healthy, whole, pain free life."
Why only born humans? Please tell me what happens at birth that makes a human THAT MUCH MORE SPECIAL than one a few days, weeks, or months younger. I thought you were opposed to partial birth abortion? Why, if you think that only born humans have this right to a healthy, whole, pain-free life?
To me, you seem to be contradicting yourself, but I guess that's why I'm pro-life. So much less dancing around facts and arbitrary line-drawing to rationalize things.
"Someone born without an arm due a doctor's botched abortion attempt ought to have redress."
Ummm...that'd be like requesting a physician to operate on your kidney, then becoming irate with them when they go to make the opening incision complaining that you "didn't realize that they'd have to cut me open to operate!!!" I mean, ripping off limbs and at least moderately damaging the fetal human is kind of an understood requirement when one is attempting to kill said fetal human. The birthing process is kind of expected when you're talking about the termination of a pregnancy. I mean, getting pregnant without expecting to birth a human being-living or dead-is like having sex without expecting to get preg-oooooooh. NOW I get it.
Unfortunately (for you), your wants, beliefs, desires, or political affiliation have no bearing whatsoever upon biology or the natural biological processes our bodies go through. Even the abortion procedure ends with birth, it's just the birth of a dead baby rather than a live one (most of the time). I don't really see how you can justify wanting to prosecute or somehow penalize a doctor for an unsuccessful abortion...would you also hold a doctor who unsuccessfully operates on a tumor (failing to be able to retrieve the entire mass) to the same punishment?

You go girl!
The silence from Prochoicer is deafening. Perhaps by relentlessly pounding the truth you've been able to create stress fractures in the strongholds of his/her mind.
Prochoicer, there is tremendous liberty and peace in acknowledging the truth. It's like a huge weight is lifted off your shoulders.

I'm not as hopeful, Ed, but if another person could just see and know...The pain these humans might feel, and the horror that they'll never have a life like you or I do because their own parents took that away...Having another person in the fight for these lives might just make a difference.
And, I'm sorry to be so...I guess I'm just a rather mean and aggressive person by nature...but I just think that this is so so SO important, and I'm sorry if I upset Prochoicer (PC'er, if you're out there, it's really not my intention to make you mad, and if I have, I'm sorry), but I really want you to see the truth about these humans that are just like us, only younger, that are being killed by the thousands every day.Posted by: xalisae at July 21, 2009 1:19 PM
