Wonderful Husband,

A Great Leader who keept the country together,
a founder of economic Independence in Uganda.

he united ugandans of all religious denominations.

we his childrens as well many ugandans mised him, and will always remains in our hearts forever.

our prayers to almighty allah to rest his soul in eternal peace AAmin.

[Idi Amin's contribution to 'zero population growth']
----------------------------------------------------

Idi Amin's children remember their dad on Father's Day and overlook all the children who's fathers were killed as a result of Idi Amin's cruelty and barbarity.

A convenient oversight.

I can't help but wonder if Letterman said what he did about Sarah Palin deliberately to get attention.

From what I have heard, though, it hasn't helped his ratings.

private health care is far from alive and well..

OT, but I just read a pro-abortion study that claimed 20% of freestanding abortion clinics offer abortions after 20 weeks. It also claimed that 150,000 abortions are performed each year after 13 weeks.

Just thought you guys might be interested in those numbers

Here's a link to the article, though it will probably only be viewable to those who can access journals through a university or some other means.

Here's the article information Legal Barriers to Second-Trimester Abortion Provision and Public Health Consequences.
Authors:Jones, Bonnie Scott
Weitz, Tracy A.
Source:American Journal of Public Health; Apr2009, Vol. 99 Issue 4, p623-630, 8p, 1 chart, 1 map

It's really a fascinating read. It shows that pro-life legislation does work to reduce abortion. Though it phrases this as a negative, of course.

Thank you, Greg, for some perspective on the health care debate. No, private health care is not 100 percent alive and well, but...

1) It is a whole lot better than any health care system anywhere in the world.

2) It can be made better a whole lot cheaper than in any of the proposals circulating under our Socialist president.

3) Get rid of private health care, and you hand over your life and the lives of your loved ones to government bureaucrats.

4) Get rid of private health care and you eliminate private sector incentives to control costs and improve services.

5) Big Brother health care will control costs by: a)wage and price controls, which will drive down quality, and b) by restricting services; i.e. "Sorry, madam, because you are over 70 you are not eligible for this procedure. And besides, even if we wanted to provide the CAT scan for you, there were not sufficient funds allocated in last year's budget to purchase a new one". And of course there will be the following as well: "Oh, I'm sorry, did you say you are a relative of Senator Biglib, well, come to the head of the line, and we will take care of you right away."

5) If it ain't broke, don't fix it! For the vast majority of Americans, the health care system functions pretty darn well, but Big Brother Care wants to take it over nonetheless. We will rue the day.

Lauren, here's a stats tracking site that's pretty comprehensive and tries to be neutral.

Lauren, my godmother died last week. She lived in Sugarland and had an accident and became braindead while her husband was camping (thus without cellphone service).

Her son didn't want to make decisions without his father who was due in the next day. But Texas said they have a right to turn her off the machines in 12 hours unless she is an organ donor.

The whole idea that this was taking place was appalling, but I was wondering how you understand the context of this law.

PIP, I am so sorry to hear about your godmother.

I don't know everything about the Texas Futile Care law, but Jacque does. I thought that they had to present the family with 10 days to find a different hospital. I've never heard that they would stop life support that quickly.

Are you friends with Jacque on Facebook? If so, definitely talk to her about it.

I'm sorry to hear about your godmother, Kate. :(

I hope that your godfather and his son are okay.

As I read this hateful little anti-choice blog on Father's Day, I can't help but think about the 5 abortions (all the result of contraceptive failures) that I've been a party to as the sperm donor - and how I don't regret a single one of them.

RIP George Tiller.

Posted by: Mr. X at June 21, 2009 9:27 PM

Mr.X 9:27PM

So you had your fun and walked away. How noble of you not to regret the abortions considering you were not the one subjected to them.
Maybe you would have been more responsible about donating your sperm if you were to be held responsible for it, like with child support payments.

Posted by: Mary at June 21, 2009 9:34 PM

MR.X,
Happy fathers day to you even though you felt you didn't want your five children. Those children may not be here in body form but they will in some way haunt you by spirit. There are lots of help for men who have had their partners get abortions.

But then again, I think I smell a troll in your post. . . .

Posted by: AK Krystal at June 21, 2009 9:35 PM

PIP,

My sincerest sympathy to you and your family on the loss of your grandmother.
How tragic.

Posted by: Mary at June 21, 2009 9:35 PM

Mary, he sounds like the kind of guy that would either not work or get paid under the table to avaoid paying child support. He wouldn't pay a dime because from the sounds of it I'm sure he paid for the abortions.....

Posted by: AK Krystal at June 21, 2009 9:36 PM

That is, if he's actually telling the truth, but I think he's a troll. Also, QUIT TAINTING MY NICKNAME. "Hateful"...what exactly is so hateful about it, exactly? Also...Why are you here on father's day? Since abortion kept you from actuall being a father (in your own mind, at least), wouldn't both Father's Day and this website hold little if any significance to you? I think if you are telling the truth, you need some help, if you're seeking out a site such as this on Father's Day. I'm sorry for your children.

I am friends with Jacque Lauren...I would love to see what she thinks. She was going to be an organ donor anyway so they got an extension, but 12 hours?! I couldn't believe the state could intervene like that.

Everyone, thank you for your condolences. This last week hasn't been a picnic but we have found great support. They were very active in the Church and the funeral was very beautiful. :)

I am sorry too for the loss of your godmother and will be praying for you and yours.

I highly doubt Mr. X even understands the meaning of "fatherhood".
