... an example that being anti-life encompasses a whole lot more than just being pro-abortion. It's a narcissistic state of mind.

Pro-abort schizophrenia. They all need anti-psychotic drugs comparable to what is given to people with suicidal tendencies.

"It makes sense to kill the unwanted children in the womb because if we don't then their parents will just subject them to years of abuse. And besides, its good for the earth and the economy to kill them in the womb. We save the medical and education costs and they leave a smaller carbon footprint if we kill them in the womb."
Read the Sunday quote, then read this.
"An unconquerable pride grew up in the hearts of this class- the pride of unchallenged domination, of irresponsible control of others, of unquestioned power, of uncriticized conduct. Each man became a lord within his own domain. He was the source of law among his slaves, and his self interest and good or ill will was the rule of his actions; the laws of the State did not readily reach him, and public opinion of his own class naturally coincided with his views. There resulted an absolute indifference to the opinions of others."
Eugene Genovese, 'Roll Jordan Roll', pg 17
"The psychological effect of slavery upon him was fatal. The mere fact that a man could be, under the law, the actual master of the mind and bodies of human beings had to have disastrous effects...Their 'honor' became a vast and awful thing, requiring wide and insistent deference. Such as them were inherently weak and inefficient were all the more easily angered, jealous, resentful; while the few who were superior physically or mentally conceived no bounds to their power and prestige."
W.E.B. Du Bois Co-founder of NAACP
The Dead Babies R Us crowd and the 'death lobby' are 'nothing new under sun'.
The same old bigotry dancing to a new beat.
The fact that the bigot dehumanizes the victim in his/her own mind does not change or diminish the reality of the humanity of the victim. It only changes and reduces mind of the bigot to that of an unreasonable brute.

That quote could come right out of 1967-1973. Minus the carbon footprint. The same old recycled, and continually disproven arguments.
Posted by: Mary at March 1, 2009 10:53 AMThe problem is the human heart which above all else is infinitely wicked.
Why do we think Christ had to die on the cross? Please really, really think about that. To redeem us to a holy God, the Father had to send His Son, a totally innocent man, to be tortured, spit on, rejected and ultimately murdered on a cross. Does it surprise anyone that we are capable of killing completely innocent human beings and then justify those actions with our words.
Friends, this is the human condition and this is why there is a hell. There is only one way to deal with sin that exists in an indestructible soul and that is to destroy it eternally.
Save for God's infinite love, we would all be headed there.
Let's keep telling people the truth about their condition and of God's love and the way our through faith in Christ the Lord in the hope that they "get it" before it is too late.

Oh my gosh, ken, you hit the nail on the head.

Indeed Ken did. We are not human because someone says we are, we do not cease to be human because someone says we are not.

Posted by: Erin at March 1, 2009 9:06 PMCould someone please explain this comic? There seems to be some background information, whether current affairs or pop culture reference, I'm not sure, that I'm missing.

Escondido priest warns “evil has acceded to power” in Obama Administration
News from the Trenches
(Fr. Richard Perozich, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Escondido, published the following commentary in the Sunday, Feb. 1, parish bulletin.)
“100 DAYS OR END OF DAYS”
,,,Abortion is our god and Obama, Pelosi, Kennedy are his prophets. His sacrifice is the life of infants and the souls of mothers. His priests are doctors who perform abortions. His church is Planned Parenthood and FOCA, (freedom of choice act). His covenant promises rights and freedom for women. It delivers death of infants, permanent damage to the souls of women, of men, of politicians...
...Homosexual lust is our god and Obama, Bishop Gene Robinson, and democratic politicians are his prophets. The sacrifice is personal integrity and corruption of the body and spirit. Its priests and priestesses are men who have sex with men (MSM) and women who have sex with women (WSW). Its church is the Human Rights Campaign and other activist organizations, Pride clubs and "gay" and "lesbian" centers. Its covenant offers false promises of equality with those who have normal sexual relations and inner peace. It delivers disease, prolonged adolescent immaturity, and oppression of the church and good people who live upright moral lives...
...Money is our god, and the wealthy and the welfare are its prophets. Its sacrifice is hard earned savings and retirement. Its priests are those taking obscene profits by defrauding investors, and those who choose government money over honest work. Its church is a non vigilant Securities and Exchange Commission and congress. Its covenant promises self reliance and security in wealth. It delivers collapse of the economy, unfair distribution of wealth, and a drain on the tax system...

Yeah, I'm not really sure why the clown is hanging the stimulus bill. Maybe if the clown was the stimulus bill, and the hanged balloon animal was the US or something, that would make sense. Or if the clown (presumably to stand for Obama) was just holding the stimulus balloon.
But from where I'm sitting it looks like...killing the stimulus bill was way creepier than the great idea it seemed to be at the time. Which would make the clown the 'body' that wants to kill the stimulus bill, which would primarily be Republicans, as a party. Which I can't imagine is the intent.
I hate when I am clearly missing some key aspect of a political cartoon.

-------
Of course you don't get it.
The Liberals are the insane evil clowns getting ready to hang future generations, by testing the noose with a sand dummy (passing the stimulus bill).
The creepiness - the left thinks everything is just about themselves. You can't see your own insanity, which is why you don't get it.
Sick, evil, fun and games.
I think Varvel is making a personal statement - that things are getting creepier than he imagined - for instance Sebellius (Tiller's cheerleader) is now nominated for Secretary for HHS.
How long before Tiller becomes Josef Mengele-like?
Rush at CPAC was absolutely right - the left enjoys being cruel to people under the guise of being compassionate - for instance banning torture for terrorists while thinking up new ways to kill off the young - like partial birth abortion, and induced labor abortion.
Insanely cruel "compassion" fits the abortion, euthanasia, organ donation, fetal farming and prisoner release agendas of the left.
And now they've figured out another way to kill future generations with the stimulus bill/gov't finance.
That's creepy.
Posted by: Chris Arsenault at March 2, 2009 6:46 AMThink future investors.
Posted by: Chris Arsenault at March 2, 2009 6:48 AMChris -- right on target.
Posted by: Eileen at March 2, 2009 8:44 AMI thought it was just me. I didn't get it at all. I still don't. Chris's explanation was bizarre. If that's really what the cartoon is about, someone needs to turn off Hannity and get out more.
Posted by: Hal at March 2, 2009 10:19 AMYeah, I think that's a stretch. It would be far more effective at conveying the same message if the rope was the stimulus plan and the balloon animal was the future investors, or the US, or something.
Right now it looks more like the stimulus plan is being hung (shades of public catharsis, symbolic gestures to blame all of a community's troubles on one figure) and thus being killed, and that's what the baby's describing as "creepy." Meh.
