Posted by: Stephanie at April 6, 2008 2:55 PMStephanie: I think it's because of his stance on some bill regarding "abortion survivors", ie: babies born alive after abortions. The name of the bill is slipping my mind.
In any case, this cartoon is stupid. But I understand the exaggeration.

Posted by: Bethany at April 6, 2008 3:15 PMdidn't Obama say he didn't want his daughter to be punished by having a baby ( his own grandkid ) ?
Couldn't he afford to help her out? Or would he pressure her to abort?
I thought he said he was christian. Doesn't the bible teach that babies are a blessing? Or does he not believe that part? Does he consider his own children punishment or blessing?

you, however, could recall every sermon for over 20 years, including the ones given while you were absent? Twenty years of sermons and you'll judge a man based on 5 to 10 minutes of outtakes?

A 1992 Gallup poll showed that 80 percent of U.S. Catholics disagreed with the statement, "Using artificial means of birth control is wrong." I could certainly tell you what my minister believes afer only 5 years. Also I would walk out of that church if he issued a lifetime achievement award to the local racist anti-semitic or associated with him in any way.
Have you noticed Hal how Obama is trying to distance himself from his longtime pastor, friend, and mentor to further his own political career?
That sats something about Obama as well.
The best thing Obama's opponents could do is to simply raise national literacy about Illinois Democrats. It's a simple syllogism:
All Illinois Democrats are insane.
Obama is an Illinois Democrat.
The conclusion is left as an exercise for the student.
Posted by: rasqual at April 7, 2008 8:23 AMrasqual - you're making a big assumption that logic has something to do with electing presidents nowadays!
Posted by: Chris Arsenault at April 7, 2008 9:58 AM This stupid cartoon is typical of all the
Obama bashing of conservatives.Let's face it,
most of what we have heard about him has been
rumor and innuendo;I don't know if he would
be a good president or not,but he couldn't be
worse than the pathetically incompetent and
misguided boob who fortunately will soon be
out of the White House. If anything, since Obama
has the sense to be pro-choice,abortion rates
in the US and abroad might even go DOWN.
The Bush regime's stupid anti-choice
policies have denied poor women access to
contraceptives abroad,and abortion is rampant
there.How ironic!
That "misguided boob" is your president too. The office of the President of the United States of America deserves our utmost respect, no matter who is in it.
Curious. If you get a rebate check from that boob will you run right out and cash it? Or maybe send it back with a No Thanks written on the envelope?
Posted by: Carla at April 7, 2008 10:31 AMLOL! That's perfect!
Just a few months earlier and it's exactly what he would have said, just in different terms such as "a woman's right to choose" or some other pathetic nonsense.

The only Catholic opinion that matters is the Pope's, he is 100% in agreement with the statement that "using artificial birth control is wrong".
Perhaps we should call those who follow ALL the teachings of the Church as ORTHODOX CATHOLICS to avoid confusion with those who choose not to follow every teaching.
Your link is quite long, what is the point you want to make in referring to it?
Posted by: Janet at April 7, 2008 12:53 PM"The office of the President of the United States of America deserves our utmost respect, no matter who is in it."
I completely disagree, never did I have any respect for Clinton, never will.
That's why I said the "office" or position. I can never respect Clinton nor condone his actions, but he was still my president.

I see, if he distances himself, he's a bad frient and too political. If he doesn't, he must agree with what the guy says.

Oh yes, robert - abortion rates will go down and infanticide rates will go UP! Obama knows all about being pro-choice, particularly the choice to employ power, to subjugate the weak, and to avoid the "punishment" that pregnancy brings.
Get a clue - people aren't property, but Obama, that champion of freedom, that uniter of people, that walking, talking audacious hope, knows that abortion, like slavery, is a key to power. Treating children as property, even when they are born and allowing them to be killed (by voting against the Born Alive Infants Protection Act) takes the same kind of logic that Chief Justice Taney took in the Dred Scott case - that these children are the sovereign "property" of their mothers alone and their life is subject to that choice and they can never be recognized as US citizens.
The only way you can state what you do - with the indignation you do, is by objectively knowing that the unborn are human, but subjectively rejecting their right to life on the basis of a distorted sense of morality that revels in selfish power - just like Obama.
And you, by your advocacy of Obama, agree that such selfish grabs and executions of power are a "choice".
Did you forget about love?
Posted by: Chris Arsenault at April 7, 2008 4:32 PMThe cartoon is extremely unfair. Obama would first determine the financial, physical and emotional state of the baby's mother, and then scream "AUGHH! GET IT AWAY! KILL IT! KILL IT!" only if upon balancing the relevant factors he concluded that the baby was, or should have been, unwanted.
Posted by: The Raving Atheist at April 7, 2008 4:34 PMThe Raving Atheist,
So if the child was unwanted it should be killed?
Posted by: Mary at April 7, 2008 7:43 PMChris, I think I love you.
Hey, anyone find it at all interesting that Obama is a big ol' abortion supporter--and yet 3 out of every 5 black children are aborted.* Read that again: more black children are aborted than born. I'm white, and I hate what abortion is doing to the black community; Obama is black--why doesn't he share my concern? I find that super weird.
*Stat from blackgenocide.org (WARNING: pictures of children who were aborted).
Posted by: ashli at April 7, 2008 7:46 PMMary, that's not what TRA was saying. He was being sarcastic and, as usual, too intellectual for the comment section of a blog. The "or should have been unwanted" is what gives it away.

Robert,
I never voted for Bush and disagree with him on plenty.
However, that in no way assures that Obama would be better.
Obama could easily be much worse, as could someone else.
The fact that you don't think like the current situation regarding contraception availability and the abortion rate does not mean that things will improve if someone such as Obama changes policies. Free contraceptives and abortions may actually increase unintended pregnancies. New York City has both and has the highest rates of unplanned pregnancies, HIV infection and abortion.
Bottom line no matter how bad Bush is, someone else can still be worse.

I am not catholic, but I find it strange when people think religion should be defined by polling the opinions of those who identify themselves as members. Religion is not democratic. God makes the rules, and followers, well, follow. If you aren't following, then logically, you aren't a follower.
Posted by: hippie at April 9, 2008 10:51 AMthis may not be true, but seriously how can he hold a child when he supports killing them by the millions? To me that just doesn't make sense.
