by Carder How dare you refer to my beautiful children as “synthetic”. And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children. Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, […]

by Carder We hope to adopt a lot of kids. If God blesses us with biological kids of our own, it’s not going to quench our desire to adopt. ~ Newlywed Jessa (Duggar) Seewald, opening up about her and husband Ben’s plans to adopt, People, February 18
by Carder Mum suggests adoption, but I think that’s crueller than death. That’s my opinion. To burden a child with abandonment and rejection right from the start. A living death. All or nothing, that’s me. I choose nothing. Nothingness for baby. I think this is a responsible decision. I will not countenance any other option. […]
Walking in the woods with her best friend one warm afternoon, the real world barreled into her idyllic life. Three men approached the 16-year-old girls; they were separated. [Minka] Disbrow, who still believed storks delivered babies, was raped by a man in a cowboy hat who called himself “Mack.”
Bloody and sore, Disbrow and her friend returned home.
by Carder I would like for him to ‘man up’…. He’s made the statement. He needs to put his money where his mouth is. ~ Beverly Owings, adoptive white mother of a biracial daughter, challenging, Alabama state Rep. by Kelli I don’t think I would have adopted my boys [Jeremy, 12, Bradley, 11; he also has a daughter Tara, 28] had I not had the illness. It humanized me, taught me not to be a jerk. It made me do things I never would have done…. It forced me to focus on things […]
by Carder I was bleeding heavily, sitting on the rug, crying. My two little ones were hiding behind a chair, crying. And it hit me: This is a domestic violence situation; if their dad had done this, I would take our children somewhere safe. Forget love. Right then, I didn’t even like J. In his short little life, […]
by Carder As a mom, it wasn’t hard to say yes. I couldn’t refuse. If we can help to try to make people more aware, try to help. Can’t believe that some children are asking for parents for the holidays. This is like, not normal. And there’s so many foster care children. ~ Singer Celine Dion, […]
I’m in heaven; that’s why we chose her name Sky… She’s beautiful. We’re very happy… Open adoption is very important for us…. We will raise her with all the love we have. ~ Priscilla Devries (pictured) and Richard Dros, parents from the Netherlands who have adopted a second baby from the United States, as featured […]
We have made a significant impact, abortion clinics are closing… in our evolution, we believe the next step is adoption…. More adoptions will lead to less abortions. More women will see opportunities to have their child and keep their child or place their child for adoption…. We’ve adopted two children, domestically and internationally, and what […]
I am so proud of my family. I grew up across the table from Moses, who has cerebral palsy, and next to my sister Quincy, born of a drug-addicted inner-city mother, and Minh, who is blind. I could never have understood what it means to grow up blind or with cerebral palsy. I saw problems […]
How often do we see the entertainment culture take a stand against abortion — especially one as powerful as John Elefante’s “This Time”? The former lead singer of Kansas offers an incredibly personal missive based on the story of his own adopted daughter in order to bring attention to Online for Life, which works to […]

Statistics tell us that 50-55% of teens experiencing unplanned pregnancies choose single parenting, 30-35% choose abortion, and less than 1% choose to place their children for adoption.
These statistics are disturbing. What if we could reverse the statistics of abortion and adoption? With two million couples waiting to adopt, why doesn’t adoption seem to be an option on the radar screen of parents experiencing unplanned pregnancies?
One reason appears to be that even in well-written articles, adoption is framed in outdated and negative language. Even some professionals who deal with teens have an inaccurate view of adoption, perpetuated by made-for-TV movies showing adoption as it was in the 1970’s. Today, options aren’t so limited, with open, semi-open, and confidential adoptions.
The charity regulator in Scotland has upheld a ruling that would force a Roman Catholic adoption agency to end its policy that requires prospective adoptive parents to be married for at least two years…. This attack on the adoption agency was orchestrated by National Secular Society, who claims that the policy of searching for stable […]
“They were both visibly upset. The mother was crying,” she remembers. “They said they didn’t want to bring a baby into the world only for that child to suffer. … They said I should try to be God-like and have mercy on the child and let her go.” “I told them that they had chosen […]
I figured it was selfish for us to pour our resources into making our “own” babies when those very resources and energy could not only help children already here, but through advocacy and service transform the world into a place where no child ever needs to be born into poverty and abuse again…. My belief […]
I published some articles about being the product of gay parenting and received hundreds of e-mails from around the world pleading with me to fight against a growing human-rights crisis caused by the LGBT movement….
[T]hey were children of sperm donors, troubled adoptees, people agonized by the baby-farming in India and elsewhere, gays horrified at what is being done in the name of “gay families,” religious people, atheists, people who know for whatever reason that buying babies and erasing fatherhood or motherhood is not the fruit of love….
I was fortunate enough to be in the second row, center stage, when this great young couple spoke at the Students for Life of America conference on January 26.
Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra were made famous on MTV’s “16 and Pregnant” in 2009 when they decided to place their daughter Carly for adoption. MTV continued to track the couple in its “Teen Mom” series through 2012.
Since then the two have become strong advocates for adoption, speaking around the country at high school and college campuses.
And lately, Catelynn and Tyler have become more outspoken advocates for the sanctity of preborn human life as well, much to the chagrin of abortion pushers.
I don’t think video is available yet of their speech at SFLA’s conference, but I tweeted a couple of their statements during their speech…
I was surprised. People were pretty supportive. We’ve got it all going on in our household – two moms and a black daughter – so I thought we were going to get it from every angle. But for the most part, people basically said, “God bless. Congratulations!” ~ Celebrity personal trainer Jillian Michaels on the […]
People say to us, “How nice of you to adopt and help a child in need.” And we say, “No, you’ve got that backward. We needed her….” We call her Jackpot Baby, she is everything you could ever wish for: Healthy, gorgeous, calm, sweet [and] loving. ~ Jennifer Aspen (pictured right), actress and star of […]
What would you have done if you weren’t allowed an abortion? Jane: This is a really tough question. Honestly, I would have done everything in my power to obtain a safe abortion. I would have contacted organizations such as Women on Waves or Women on Web and sought them out to have the procedure done […]
You can’t look around a room and tell who was conceived with wine and roses and who was conceived on a street corner. We’re all human beings; we all have value. ~ Liz Carl (pictured right), as quoted from the June 25 episode of the Emmy Award winning pro-life television show Facing Life Head-On (episode […]
Adoption is a calling… there is something in you that can’t be denied. I’m sure October Baby producers loved that headline, which sandwiched their little pro-life movie between one of the top box office draws of all time and the sequel to another box office smash.
Here’s another one for their scrapbook…
It was nothing short of devastating. But… it was probably the greatest, happiest ending. I mean, it was so painful for us, but it was deeply joyful and deeply right for her. ~ Law & Order SVU star Mariska Hargitay, remarking on a past failed adoption after the baby’s mother decided to parent, as quoted […]
UPDATE 3/26, 10:45a: October Baby did very well at the box office this weekend. According to The Hollywood Gossip:
The anti-abortion drama October Baby opened in 390 theaters nationwide this weekend, earning the second-highest per-screen average behind The Hunger Games.
Samuel Goldwyn released the movie, starring Rachel Hendrix, John Schneider and Jasmine Guy, primarily in favorable political environments, earning $1.7M….
The movie’s overall gross is technically $1.9 million now….
In an effort to finance a wider release, filmmakers were able to raise $3 million from investors. To promote the film, its backers screened it for church groups and ran advertisements on networks such as Fox News.
While its niche may be relatively small, it is that dedicated, laser-targeted audience that helped make fellow faith-based fare Fireproof, starring Kirk Cameron, one of the most successful independent films of 2008, grossing $33.5 million.
According to Box Office Mojo, October Baby landed in the top 10 for the weekend, quite respectable.
UPDATE 3/26, 10:27a: I went to see October Baby Saturday night with a group of pro-life friends and was pleasantly surprised by a bonus feature that ran during film credits but was not in the cut I was sent to review. Actress Shari Rigby spoke of her own abortion and the healing she had received.
There’s lots of problem solving in any marriage, but when you have this collective goal that is a human being, it’s an inspiring rally point.” ~ ABC’s Modern Family star Ty Burrell, on the adoption of a second daughter with wife, Holly (pictured above left), as quoted by People, March 19 The couple adopted their […]

Breitbart’s politics were a bit more libertarian than Santorum’s, but Andrew was strongly pro-life. It was kind of personal with him, because he was adopted — his birth parents were a couple of ’60s hippie types — and Andrew thus understood deeply the enormous potential of “unwanted” babies. ~ Robert Stacy McCain remembering conservative activist […]
… [F]or those of us with anti-choice family members, how do you handle family gatherings? I have typically tried to avoid discussing health care or politics. But that strategy crapped out on me over the holidays when my mom started asking me why I don’t support adoption over abortion. I walked away from a fight […]
I would like to defund Planned Parenthood…. I want to take all of that money and put it directly into adoption services to give young women the choice of life, not the culture of death. ~ GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich, commenting at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s presidential forum in South Carolina, as quoted […]
Capital Care Network, in Columbus, Ohio, is a one-of-a-kind women’s health center. They do perform abortions, but before doing so, they offer the woman the services of something no other abortion clinic in America can – a fully licensed adoption agency on site. ~ Lez Get Real reporting on an adoption agency located inside an […]
I loved that baby so much. Children should not be in these situations…we hesitate to call them households, because they aren’t. Children have the right to be raised in a family with a mother and a father. Period. They are not commodities to be used to “play” house and make a lifestyle of sin and immorality have the veneer of normalcy. […]
I have always wanted to have a child of my own and I will always want to go through that gift that women have been given to experience that, so I hope to be a mother at some point…. I think I can allow myself one child – and from then on, I think I […]
Brad Pitt knew from an early age that if he ever had his own family, it was going to a big one. “I had a friend who had a big family when I was a kid. I just loved the chaos around the breakfast table and the fighting and the ribbing, and the mom making […]
Abortion proponent Christina Page wrote a piece May 6 in the Huffington Post entitled, “Should adoption be a reproductive right?” Page started by claiming pro-lifers “insist” adoption as an “easy choice” for birth mothers, a charge I’d be interested in seeing Page back up. Page went on to equate adoption with abortion, thereby providing a […]

The reality is that I have endometriosis, and I most likely couldn’t get pregnant. I’ve had the X-rays, my tubes are closed, the uterine lining is too thick, blah, blah, blah. I was ashamed about it because I thought I’m supposed to be the healthiest woman in the world, and what does this say about […]
On November 20 the Toronto Star published an in-depth look at the shortage of abortionists in Canada, using pseudonymed Dr. Evan James, pictured above, as its focal point. There are a few stories inside this article, which is worth reading in its entirety. But I’m pulling excerpts that focus on the psyche of this particular […]
Aging rocker Rod Stewart publicly acknowledged on The Joy Behar Show last week he was a teenage father who agreed to place his baby for adoption. See video of that interview here. Interesting that pro-abort Behar responded, “Listen, it’s a great thing that you have that. At the end of the day you have each […]
