Planned Parenthood CEO declares a state of emergency

State of emergency, Planned Parenthood, Pelosi, healthcare, abortion, Cecile Richards.jpgPlanned Parenthood CEO Cecile Richards has just sent the following emergency email.

Of course, pro-lifers should use the number Richards provides to call their rep to tell him/her to vote YES on the Stupak/Pitts pro-life amendment to the nationalized healthcare bill. [JLS note: Do NOT call Cecile's number! Call 202-224-3121 instead. Per reader Vicki: "The phone number in Richards' email leads to a recorded message from her. Then it rings forever and a message comes on that no one answered (DUH!). THEN, I got a text thanking me for speaking out for reproductive health care.]

And of course, Richards is lying. As I explained in my previous post...

This amendment keeps the status quo. It is identical to the current federal employees' insurance plan, which does not cover abortion, which is to say that currently a pregnant mother who works for the federal government and wants to abort is free to do with her own money.

Under the Stupak/Pitts amendment any low-income pregnant mother who would get her insurance through the government would have to do to the same. Or if she has a private insurance plan that is subsidized by the federal government, that private company could not pay for her abortion.

One final note, I like how Cecile provides cut-and-paste messages for Facebook and Twitter. Good idea. We should do the same.

Wasn't Planned Parenthood saying the healthcare bill does not cover abortions? If they were bragging about it to get the bill passed, why are they complaining about it now? Sounds like double speak to me.

Wow! She actually used the "A " word!

Am I getting this right? If the PL amendment is added Obamacare loses votes. If its not added Obamacare loses votes. Isn't this just another way to throw the screws into Obamacare? I hope it is successful in doing so.

How about an amendment to Obamacare that mandates coverage for cosmetic surgery? Certainly it is as much a "right" as abortion is. How many people will be denied the "right" to cosmetic surgery if its not covered in Obamacare?
Certainly a woman may view cosmetic surgery as essential to her mental health and life improvement.

I called the PP number listed in Richards' email, got an answering machine message which asked me to wait so I could submit my zip code to get my Rep name/number, but after dozens of rings, no one answered.

Good catch, Bethany!

I was just thinking the same thing after reading her letter. She used it three times. I think I'm gonna turn on the news right now to see if hell froze over today.

And taking abortion out of health care coverage is a "discriminatory mean-spirited ATTACK on women! Oh, the gall.

Posted by: Marie at November 7, 2009 11:53 AM

Killing an unborn female before birth is more discriminatory than not funding abortion. Abortion takes away the rights of FUTURE women, or does Cecile (who actually came to Lincoln, NE a few years ago and some pro life students who went to see what she was going to talk about reported that she aborted her OWN child!) not realize that at least 50% or maybe even more, of abortions result in the death of baby GIRLS?

Oh Cecile!

You just can't bear the thought of losing billions and billions of dollars, can you?

Posted by: carder at November 7, 2009 12:32 PM

Abortion is not healthcare.
71% of us oppose tax payer funded abortion.

Sorry Cecile, you are losing.

As a "born again chrisian", I support a womans right to choose. If the "church" spent as much money and energy combating the molestation of our children (alterboys), I might believe that they're acutally concerned about the unborn. Where was the outrage when thousands of children were being raped by the priesthood/clergy?

Futhermore, how many children could the church have fed with the money they spent on defeating gay marriage and a womans right to choose??? I think its time to lift the tax exempt status on all churches. Just think the impact it would have on reducing the federal deficit?

Finish the sentence, Dan.
You support a woman's right to kill her own child.
