Pro-aborts attempt to swap Snowe for Nelson

With prospects dimming that Democrat Sen. Ben Nelson will either sign on to the Senate bill in its current form, which still authorizes public funding of abortion, or accept a "compromise," pro-aborts are setting their sights on pro-abort Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe. Reported CBS News today:

Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid of NV continued to work to get 60 votes, the number needed to ensure passage of the legislation.... With Mr. Nelson's vote in doubt, President Barack Obama met with Maine Sen. Olympia Snowe, the lone Republican to show interest in supporting the package, to see if she would back the bill. Sen. Snowe is an abortion-rights supporter....

'He'd prefer to get this moving,' Sen. Snowe said. She added that she urged the president to postpone action and use 'part of January' to deal with her concerns, which include a proposal to establish a new long-term care program. 'The time frame is totally unrealistic,' she said of the push for a vote by Christmas.

Meantime, "With the clock ticking down on health care reform... Reid... has until Saturday to strike a 60-vote compromise if Democrats hope to meet a Christmas Eve deadline - but the obstacles kept piling up Thursday," reports Politico....

Indeed, I received this email yesterday from NARAL (click to enlarge)...

And pro-abort tweets were flying fast and furious to get petition signatures. Here's a sample...

Can we do climate change on this Snowe storm?

How many of these deadlines have come and gone? Late Spring. July 4. Labor Day. Thanksgiving. Now Christmas.

Where I come from in Brooklyn, it's called 'a clue', which Obama seems not to have.

Last night Sean Hannity asked Dick Morris why Obama's poll numbers have slipped beneath 50%. Morris answered by saying that the last time we had an authentic, radical, card-carrying liberal in the WH, was Lyndon Johnson, some 45 years ago. The American people had either forgotten or never saw a real liberal in the WH, and now they are rebelling.

Obama loses either way this legislation works out. His fragile coalition is made up of extremist left-wingers and moderates. He can't get any healthcare legislation through without alienating at least one wing of his base. In compromising, he's alienating them all.

We can only hope that a conservatively Republican House, Senate and WH in three years has the wisdom to cut our losses and reverse many of these programs.

It isn't what he's done that's the problem. It's who he is at heart. That can't be easily fixed.

"The American people had either forgotten or never saw a real liberal in the WH, and now they are rebelling."

It's the "liberals" who are rebelling because he's selling out to the insurance companies. He's not radical, he's ineffective. If he could push through single payer, he's be wildly popular.

Dick Morris has no idea what he's talking about. (as usual)

Actually, Hal, Obama's popularity has been tanking for months, particularly after the House passed its version of the bill.

The liberal meltdown this week is simply icing on the cake.

If he were to push down single-payer, I guarantee you he would only be wildly popular with the Kos, MoveOn, etc crowd.

The rest of America would start sharpening their pitchforks.

Actually Hal, the liberal/progressive/humanists are ones who are wailing and gnashing their teeth.

But they have not yet deserted their 'homie'.

The independents/moderates have been silently running away from B.O. and the democRATS in steadily increasing numbers since about February of this year.

Everyone wants to back a winner and wants all to know thats their man, but when the winner begins to stumble, falter and fall, then they disassociate themselves from their 'choice' and their man. They remove the B.O. signs from their yards and the bumper stickers from their cars.
And they join the growing mob who are murmuring in dissatisfaction.

The last rats to abandon the infested sinking ship will be the dogmatically doctrinaire marxists and anarchists who will complain B.O. was not fully committed to the revoltution and that is why he failed.

The glory that was never real has faded, and what once appeared to some as brightly shining gold is now becoming manifest, even to the psychophants who refuse to take off their rose tinted glasses, as the light and life sucking black hole B.O. as always been.

("'DO'" pay attention to the mere mortal image shapers behind the curtains pulling the levers and pushing the buttons that manipulate a manufactured 'unreality'.)

Put down your shovel and climb out of the hole before you dig so deep escape is impossible.

Get a pencil and paper and do the math for yourself.
