CO pro-life Super Bowl tailgate party

by Jill Stanek

super%20bowl%201.jpgAmericans held thousands of Super Bowl parties last Sunday to watch the New York Giants spoil the New England Patriots' perfect record.

But I'll bet none were quite like this one.

Fifty pro-life activists enjoyed the Super Bowl while picketing in front of the home of Lakewood, CO, resident Gary Meggison, senior executive of The Weitz Company, general contractor of Planned Parenthood's new Denver mega-mill....

Weitz was just given "permanent collaborator status" by activists when it refused to pull from the project by January 31. This means Weitz executives can anticipate being picketed as long as the PP Denver chop shop operates.

Reported activist Leslie Hanks of Sunday's block party in an email:

The time of food, fun and fellowship was topped off with excellent hot dogs, brats and even buffalo dogs. One pro-lifer, Grandma Connie, brought spinach stromboli and eggplant parmesan. The pro-lifers considered this one of the best Super Bowl parties they have ever attended....

super%20bowl%204.jpg

These tenacious pro-life activists plan to expand their pickets to Weitz customers. Reported Rocky Mountain News on February 4:

hermes.jpg

The group has plans to protest at the grand opening of Hermes, a French fashion house and Weitz Company client, which will open its first Colorado store in the retail component of the new NorthCreek development in Denver's Cherry Creek North shopping district.

Certainly, picketing homes and businesses of abortion participants is disturbing. This is exactly the goal, wrote Leslie: to "increas[e] the social tension that has all but disappeared in this country, despite the slaughter of thousands of innocent babies each day." In fact, the group's motto is, "No child killing in tranquility!"

And don't forget, picketing is the American way. Continued the RMN:

The residential picketing performed by the group has caused considerable controversy and has led several city councils in the Denver Metro area to consider ordinances which would place limitations on the picketers. In general, they would like the residential picketing problem to go away, but they are unwilling to go with an all out ban due to first amendment rights issues and the potential for a long drawn out and expensive battle supporting such a ban.

Gary Meggison... attended a Lakewood City Council meeting recently and requested them to pass an ordinance to eliminate the residential picketers. So far, there is no action planned by the council.

"Americans held thousands of Super Bowl parties last Sunday to watch the New York Giants spoil the New England Patriots' perfect record."

..this was tough, since I've been follwing the Patriots since I was a little boy. Tom Brady almost got killed in that game.

Why aren't you guys at the CPAC Convention? http://www.cpac.org/

I can tell 'ya.
The big "C" Conservatives realize that if they are to have any chance at all next November, they have to distance themselves from the crazies - you know - the kind of people who hang around a big, bloody fetus truck eatin' barbeque. (Eeeeew!)

Why do you want to hurt Carla? Don't you understand that she already hurts and is trying to get past that? Have you ever hurt? Would you want someone rubbing the salt in your wounds? What is the matter with you? Be human, already

So what, FF, you don't like it that these people are picketing the homes of Weitz so you need to hurt Carla for everyone to see your point? That's sick.

No matter what the city council does, the Colorado Pro-life group will not give up. I feel badly for the family being picketed, but much worse for the babies dying at the mill. Will, you and your group are in my prayers. Meggison familiy, you are also in my prayers. God bless you.

These pro-lifers aren't saving any babies anymore. They aren't picketing abortion clinics or even clinic workers (which I still don't agree with). They're just being vindictive and petty. It is disturbing to see these people partying and having fun while they are supposed to be protecting the right to life. If they really think they are helping babies from being killed it's sick that they're partying. They should be praying.

Do you really think that the Megissons 5 or 6 neighbors want to come up with $10,000 for a fence and then be fully responsible for maintaining the street which could easily cost $100,000 to repave? That is what is meant by "form a community association which will maintain said cul de sac."

They may find protestors annoying but that is still a chunk of change. I think they would definitely ask for the money up front from Meggison before committing themselves to such a liability.

Also don't these people have anything better to do then stand around this guys home? I mean spend some time with your own families and children, volunteer at a nursing home or pound, work. You know what I should have done? Protested Super Bowl Parties that served meat. PETA should have protested these "pro-lifers" for torturing and killing poor innocent animals for their gluttonous lust. If you think when you eat meat you aren't doing just that you're lying to yourself. Animals have souls too, if you don't believe me you're just in denial.

Posted by: Jess at February 7, 2008 6:29 PM

ok Jess, try to look at this from another angle:

1 block away from your home, they are building a state-of-the-art facility. You see construction workers, trucks, building materials, etc. Each day you pass by you wonder what kind of wonderful building are they going to be building. Will it be a SuperTarget, Forever21, Indoor go-cart track. What on earth will it be! You just can't wait to find out...it's so exciting!

Then, one day you get a call from one of your friends. They tell you that they read in the newspaper that the name of the new building was going to be "Planned Hamsterhood". You said, "cool"! A place filled with adorable hamsters for sale! Your friend says, "no, Jess. It's a place that tears hamsters legs and arms off and sucks them through a vacuum machine and throws them away. They do this because some people just don't want hamsters. They require too much of their time, and interfere with their lives." Your friend then goes on to tell you that they only do this to hamsters under 6 inches long. "OH NO!" cries Jess. "That's terrible! Sick. How could they do such a horrible, repulsive thing to an innocent, adorable little hamster under 6 inches long?"

Now you're driving past this new building and you notice that the contractor lives only a few more blocks down from your house. You know you can't be near a construction site, so what will Jess do now? She knows there's a slim chance out there that they will stop building if Jess will only protest outside of the contractor's house. But, if Jess does nothing, the building will most definately be built, and hamsters under 6 inches long will be pulled apart, little paw, by little paw until they are dead.

See?

Posted by: Sally at February 7, 2008 6:43 PM

I had a huge post but this site won't let me post it for some reason. It says it needs more time to read the comment.

About the hamsters, no I wouldn't protest outside their home, I would get a job in the factory, the job of killing the hamsters. But instead of killing them I pocket them and let them live in a special hamster room in my basement full of sawdust and toilet paper.

Posted by: Jess at February 7, 2008 6:45 PM

Sally,
If it were the Westboro Baptist Church, I wouldn't have a problem with it at all!

Posted by: Sunshine at February 7, 2008 6:45 PM

Jess,
They wouldn't let you do that. The hamsterippertionist and his helper are in the room with you. When they find out that you're an infiltrator, they fire you and the shredding of little fuzzy paws and tiny hamster bodies continues. Thousands upon thousands of innocent, adorable hamsters are killed. If only you did something, just something to stop it before they could build such a place!

Posted by: Sunshine at February 7, 2008 6:50 PM

Jess,
And oh, you couldn't get the job of the hamster killer. You're too smart. You need to be a med-school flunkie for that job. They would see right through you.

When given the chance to live away from factory farms, pigs will spend hours playing, lying in the sun, and exploring their surroundings with their powerful sense of smell. Considered smarter than 3-year-old human children, pigs are very clever animals."

You will fight so hard for a fertilized egg that has no brain, so central nervous system, no concept of being, no feeling or emotions or anything from being prevented from attaching to the walls of the uterus yet will condone the torture of a beautiful and intelligent animal that is as smart as a three year old human? Killing an animal that can feel pain and fear and sadness?

Posted by: Jess at February 7, 2008 6:54 PM

Well Jill worked as a nurse in a hospital with late term abortions and handle the babies.

And fine if I couldn't take them home with me I would start my own hamster removal clinic. It would be cheaper and nicer. Once I got ahold of the hamster I tell the previous owner to leave. I take it to the back of the clinic where I have a hamster sanctuary. I wouldn't let the hamsters be killed though.

Posted by: Jess at February 7, 2008 6:59 PM

I already adopted two hamsters whose first Mom didn't want them. They lived the good life with me. Until my Dad tragically sat on one. The other died of old age. Their graves are at my old house.

"she knows there's a slim chance out there that they will stop building if Jess will only protest outside of the contractor's house."

Does anyone seriously believe there is ANY chance that these protests will stop the construction? Really? At most, it will add to the cost. (which I'm sure you're okay with)

I know a few contractors. I don't know their position on abortion, but I am pretty sure they wouldn't let a few protesters stop them from doing their work.

Posted by: Hal at February 7, 2008 7:23 PM

Wouldn't it be MORE effective to protest in front of the homes of women who have had abortions?

There's one of those "Rachel's Vineyard" places not far from my home. If we photograph those women and post their faces on a website, or run their plates and protest in front of their homes on Christmas, wouldn't that send a strong, clear message to the other potential "baby killers?" Why punish a silly construction contractor when you can punish one of those "baby killers" you hate so much?

Posted by: FetusFascist at February 7, 2008 7:34 PM

Hal,
If they didn't believe it, they wouldn't be out there. Have there been any protests in the history of the US that have put a stop to something? It could happen, Hal.

Several contractors did pull off the job already.
I'd also be willing to bet that there are companies that will not be using Weitz's services and will go elsewhere. Weitz will probably lose more money (from companies that don't want to be associated with them) in the long run than what they are making building the mill. So much for "big picture" thinking, huh?

Posted by: Sunshine at February 7, 2008 7:38 PM

A baby killer like me has already punished myself more than any protest outside my house could. You are welcome to try that though. I would invite you in for hot chocolate and a hug. You sound like you could really use a hug.

I would be less likely to abort if I knew people would be at my house every day screaming at me. I think it's a better idea then protesting the contractors. None of them are nice but I think FF's idea would be more efficient.

And does that mean you hate the Weitz executive guy who you're protesting? What about everyone who hasn't "punished" themselves? Shouldn't they be punished by your logic?

That's why abortion should be available for teens without their parents consent. So they don't have people shunning them and calling them sluts and their babies bastards.

I guess that goes for teens raped and molested. Must be the short skirts and tank tops : /

No I mean I'd be less likely to abort or talk to people about a crisis pregnancy if I knew people would find out if I aborted and then protest my home. And the Weitz guy just built the clinic. Those pro-lifers should take my advice, make a clinic where they don't abort and make giving birth the more appealing option.

Jess,
They are just offensive words used to decribe a person or the person's actions. A bastard child is what it is, by definition. It may be a crude word to use, such as slut, whore, spinster, etc. but again, it is what it is. These terms though, IMO, definately need some updating to less-offensive, definition appropriate terms.

Sunshine, we were being ironic.

Posted by: Jess at February 7, 2008 8:23 PM

Ya know, Jess- I'm a vegetarian myself. Not because I beleive animals have souls or because I that it's wrong to kill them. I am a vegetarian because I think factory farming is an offense to God. I believe that we human beings, as the more intelligent, dominant race have a moral obligation to protect defenseless animals from suffering. Because they (animals) depend on us, we have an responsibility to care for them and care for them well. Because we can hurt them gives us no right to and because we know other people can hurt them gives us a charge to protect them.

It's this obligation to the lesser beings that makes me pro-life. Because unborn babies, born ones, and people with profound physical or cognitive disablities are dependent upon us, we have an obligation to care for them. Yes, Jess, you can create a baby and have her dismembered--- or you can say, "I'm everything to this little one. She needs me, at least until she's born. She can't take care of herself, and so I have an obligation to her." And with babies that are not even yours that women have the ability to kill, you can say, "That little one deserves to be protected and cared for. I am going to fight for her life the way I'd hope someone would fight for mine if I were ever that vulnerable." That's the difference between pro-choice and pro-life thinking: "This baby is dependent on me. She couldn't live on her own and so it's okay for me to kill it!" and "This baby is dependent on me. She couldn't live on her own and so I better take good care of her- take my vitamins and see the doctor."

You are obviously compassionate, but I wish you could see it in your heart to extend that compassion to your own species. We need your help, too.

Posted by: Jacqueline at February 7, 2008 8:25 PM

Jess,
That's so mean. Come on! Do you have any idea what those people may have been going through in thier lives on that particular day? To do something like that in an attempt to be funny may actually be seriously hurting someone more than they can imagine. That's just not right.

Not saying I support people doing this.

Furthermore, Jess- the idea behind making birth the more appealing option is a main tenet of the organization "Feminists for Life" of which I'm a proud member.

We beleive that women deserve better than abortion and abortion shouldn't exist because of a lack of appealing options or support. Women shouldn't have to choose between her child and her education or her child and her career. We work for on-campus housing for women with children and workplace daycares, more women-friendly laws (maternity leave, for instance) and other resources.

Men don't have to choose between their babies and their lives, but society expects us to. We should refuse to choose, which is one of the FFL mottos. The other is "Women Deserve Better than Abortion," with which I also agree.

I think a distinction to make is that these folks aren't protesting post-abortive women, but a man enabling the killing of thousands upon thousands of babies by building this abortion mill. It's not condemning someone for a wrong action like abortion, but imploring them to stop continuing the wrong action that will kill thousands of innocents.

Is making uncomfortable a man building a modern-day concentration camp worth the lives of thousands of little human beings that can't fight for themselves.

I think so!

Jess- We'd love to have you!

Here's the link: Feminists for Life.

That reminds me that I need to reorder my feminists foremother mugs. My Susan B. Anthony broke during my recent move. I'm so bummed! :(

Yanno- I just don't get my fellow vegetarians that fight for chickens to be spared a painful de-beaking, yet wholeheartedly support pre-born people being torn limb-from-limb with forceps.

Jess 8:06,

"Those pro-lifers should take my advice, make a clinic where they don't abort and make giving birth the more appealing option."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is already being done all over the country, are there no crisis pregnancy centers where you live? Groups like Planned Parenthood spread lies that these CPC's are "fake storefronts" used to lure women from their clinics, when the truth is that these crisis pregnancy centers are providing counseling and helping young moms with formula, diapers, car seats, cribs and more. I know this because I've donated baby items to several CPC's and other social service agencies.
Many churches and schools in my area donate money to these centers and collect baby items for "baby showers" for these women. Jess, I agree with you that the best way to help these women is to support the CPC's. This pro-life group in Denver is actively trying to put pressure on the construction company, to slow down the building of the PP Denver (every day they are not open is saving babies). They also want to discourage other construction companies from building abortion clinics in the future. This is why they are being so "mean" to Planned Parenthood Denver's contractors.
Posted by: Janet at February 7, 2008 8:44 PM
Yeah but the clinic is already open and running. Where is the nearest CPC to the new PP?
Posted by: Jess at February 7, 2008 8:48 PM
I shouldn't have to "sell" not killing a baby over killing a baby. Killing a baby should simply not be allowed.
I do believe women are owed options that men readily have- the ability to work, go to school, etc. Baby-having deserves accomodation, since over half the population has the ability to give birth.
Hilarious! I can't even get my mouth around that one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tonight a man walked into a city council meeting and gunned down five people.
Who do you hold responsible; the gunman, or the guy who built City Hall?

If you really believe that abortion is murder, then make those "baby-killing" women pay - not some uninvolved third party LIKE A BUILDING CONTRACTOR.
I'm sure you all know someone who's had an abortion. Hang her out to dry!

Posted by: FetusFascist at February 7, 2008 11:23 PM

Okay...it's about time that the correct information get out to everybody, because I sick and tired of reading about ALL the MISINFORMATION that is being told to everyone. I'm not trying to be hostile or anything, I just think you all need to know what is really going on here in Denver.
Hal- you are absolutely right that the clinic is going to be built regardless of the protests or not.
The information that these people have gotten some sub-contractors to quit is a lie! The security guy that quit the job, did not, I repeat DID NOT quit because he didn't believe in supporting abortion, he quit because these nuts followed him home, and were using scare and intimidation tactics, and he was fearful for himself and his family.
The Misinformaiton about Planned Parenthood lying and purchasing the property under a false name...is ridiculous! All business minded people should know that anytime a company or corporation purchases property to build or expand on, forms an LLC (Hence the Fuller 38 LLC) this is a LIMITED LIABILITY CORPORATION. Any smart business owner or operator does this...which means for example...if protesters were marching around the new building that was being constructed and a big chunk fell off and seriously injured people, then instead of the billion dollar company of Planned Parenthood getting sued for trillions of dollars, there is a limited liability to cover the accident.
As for the mechanical company that "supposedly" quit, when the property was purchased, they said, " Hey, who did you used to have service the boilers?" They answered "Oh we had Jim Davis of Davis heating and cooling, he's been doing it for 10 years, knows this place inside and out, here's his card." They respond "Okay we'll get Jim out here to service the boilers." Hence he comes out and does his quick little service, the protesters see him come and go and not return and therefore lie and say that they got a subcontractor to quit. Hello, he didn't quit, and he's not a subcontractor, he's a vendor.
Same thing with the concrete company, he's not a subcontractor, he's a vendor.
These people are not helping the cause, there actually causing record levels of donations for Planned Parenthood.
These people are not asserting their First Amendment Rights, they are hiding behind them, and USING them as a weapon to harrass, bully, and intimidate people!
People are being lied to by Will Duffy and Bob Enyart left and right! It's very cultish, the ironic thing is that they are trying to tell everyone that Weitz lied to it's subcontractors, when that is SO FAR from the truth! It is Will and Bob that is lying to everyone in order to keep the pot stirred.

Posted by: Steven at February 7, 2008 11:33 PM

By the way this is just a small bit of the lies and misinformation that Will and Bob are putting out there.

Posted by: Steven at February 7, 2008 11:39 PM

So, I do have a question. What kind of statement would it make about the "supposed" success of Will Duffy and his puppets, if the clinic did go ahead and open right on schedule and right on budget? Or better yet what if the job finished ahead of schedule?

Laura,
You just don't get it do you? A woman who has an abortion Kills Her Baby!and regrets it is in a hell of her own. There is not enough space here to describe what I went through. Is it because I now believe what I did was wrong that you have to go on and on about it? I believed the lies, I had my baby killed, I learned THE TRUTH, I met Jesus Christ who forgives and sets me free.

Hang me out to dry.

Posted by: Carla at February 8, 2008 6:08 AM

Oh, Hi again Laura,
If you are protesting at my house this weekend I would bundle up if I were you. The high on Saturday is only going to be 7. BBBBBRRRRRRRRR

"If you really believe that abortion is murder, then make those "baby-killing" women pay - not some uninvolved third party LIKE A BUILDING CONTRACTOR.

OMG! Like in the movie The Bird Cage when they're talking about people shooting abortion doctors, "Why shoot the doctors they're just doing their jobs why don't you shot the mother? I know you're going to say if the mother dies the fetus dies to but it's going to die anyway, why not let it go down with the ship?"

"I shouldn't have to "sell" not killing a baby over killing a baby. Killing a baby should simply not be allowed."

Isn't the point of this site to "sell" not killing a baby over killing a baby? Why give us all this information instead of just telling us, "Don't kill babies."

Posted by: Anonymous at February 8, 2008 7:59 AM

"I learned THE TRUTH, I met Jesus Christ who forgives and sets me free."

Maybe this contractor will meet Jesus Christ in a few years and everything will be forgiven. In the meantime, he can support his family and employ a lot of workers.

Sounds like a win/win. Except for all those "babies being murdered." Oh wait, the clinic would still be there whether this contractor did the work or some other one did.

Hal,
The end never justifies the means.

Check out the web site "Families Against Planned Parenthood". This is the group that coordinated the protesting at the Planned Parenthood Aurora (IL) in the summer of 2007. The archived posts include some about Denver PP as well. It is eye-opening.

Posted by: Janet at February 8, 2008 10:10 AM

Steve:11:33 PM:

How long have you been working for Planned Parenthood?

Posted by: Janet at February 8, 2008 10:12 AM

Hmmmmm...the pregnant women are also victims in abortion...that's why we help them.

The abortionists have already made their choice..no use in convincing them to change.

The CO PP clinic is NOT yet built and is still in the process of being built...the CO prolifers are hoping to nip this problem in the bud with their activism and protests of the builders/ contractors.

If, for some reason, the new abortion fortress does get built and opens..guess where they'll be?

Right in the front lines! In rain, sleet or snow...too bad you pro-aborts don't understand this commitment to life.

It won't. It won't.

Jess:

Last I heard, this huge construction project in Denver is supposed to open in late summer 2008. It's going to be their regional headquarters too. ( Just in time for the Democratic National Convention in Denver in August.)

Posted by: Janet at February 8, 2008 10:42 AM

"Where is the nearest CPC to the new PP?"

Jess 8:48 PM,

According to the website "lifecall.org/cpc/co" there are 47 crisis pregnancy centers in the state of Colorado. These centers are helping pregnant women and their babies.

Yes, just like what they said in Aurora.

Funny, I drive by that building (the Aurora PP) often and since it's gotten cold there are far, far fewer protestors. Many times there's none at all. What happened to the 24/7 protests that were promised??

Posted by: Anonymous at February 8, 2008 11:08 AM

NARAL would have us believe that they care about women and their babies. Their website "prochoice america.org. has a statement entitled "The Truth about Crisis Pregnancy Centers". They refer to the CPC's as "Anti-choice" and "a network across the country of parallel fake clinics".

Do they think we are dumb enough to believe that? You can walk into any crisis pregnancy center and you will find caring people with resources galore.

Doesn't choice mean that a woman has a RIGHT to CHOOSE between a CPC or an abortion clinic? If a woman calls a CPC, why shouldn't she be able to hear them out and give their viewpoint the same consideration as an abortion clinic's ? NARAL want's women to have a choice only if it's an abortion.

Posted by: Janet at February 8, 2008 11:28 AM

Anonymous 11:08 AM,

The 24/7 ('round the clock) protests were going on in the months before the opening in Aurora. Since the opening the pro-lifers still have a presence at the PP Aurora during their working hours. There is a volunteer counselor standing outside who will speak to women if they want to. She has brochures for many area CPC's for the woman who is interested in an alternative to abortion. Sometimes, the presence of someone who cares is all it takes for a woman to reconsider having an abortion. There are also individuals who come out on their own and church groups who gather at scheduled times through out the week to pray.

So please, give credit where credit is due. Our elderly bishop stood in the cold with below zero wind chills recently leading the rosary with a group of 30 people. Pro-lifers care.

Posted by: Janet at February 8, 2008 11:49 AM

I'm not saying I don't admire those who are willing to make sacrifices to defend what they believe is right. Believe me, I do. Especially when their belief is not seen as a popular one by many.

I just wonder what happened to all those who protested earlier, when the media was around, who said there would always be protestors at the clinic. I have driven by during business hours when there has been no one there.

The lone protestor that I sometimes see has all my respect. The weather has been brutally cold, and all the hundreds who were out there before seem to have found other things to do.

Posted by: Anonymous at February 8, 2008 2:05 PM

We still have a monthly protest on the 3rd Saturday of each month...Anon, you are most welcome to attend those...

Posted by: RSD at February 8, 2008 2:41 PM

God Bless all of those who are out there praying at the mills!!! Warriors every one!!

Posted by: Carla at February 8, 2008 6:37 PM

Janet- First of all I don't work for Planned Parenthood, never have. Secondly, you are sadly mistaken, and remember that I told ya so, if the project here in Denver finishes before the August deadline. It will be a real wake up call to people to make them realize that the protests are not doing a thing to slow or stop this project.

Posted by: Steven at February 8, 2008 9:54 PM

Steven,

Maybe you should work go for them, you sound like a PP cheerleader. An "I told ya so" won't phase me. Pro-life Americans are taking a stand against abortion in greater numbers than ever before and that's a good thing.

Abortion can no longer be swept under the rug as it has been for 35 years. Too many people are talking and things will change. Planned Parenthood and their supporters are the ones receiving the wake up call.

Posted by: Janet at February 8, 2008 10:29 PM

Anon, 2:05,

I don't know what time you drive by, or where you are looking, but every time I've been there, there have been at least four or five other people there. There are some areas that are not readily visible from the street that would be especially difficult to see by someone such as yourself who is "just driving by", especially since the chain link fence was installed on the corner lot next to it.

As RSD said, you are welcome to come for the monthly LARGE protest which is held the 3rd Saturday of each month. You can find out first hand what everyone is doing when they are not at the site, in support of LIFE.

Posted by: Janet at February 8, 2008 10:44 PM

Janet- what I'm saying is sure I believe there is a place for protesting, whatever that issue may be. Everyone is entitled to their OWN opinions. I respect the fact that the protesters are in front of the clinics...but a MORAL line has been crossed when this comes into people's neighborhoods. I have witnessed peaceful protests from other groups, but these are FAR from peaceful protests, they are harrassing, intimidating and scaring families and neighborhoods. Why is that okay?

Posted by: Steven at February 8, 2008 10:46 PM

Steven,

You sound like a reasonable guy. I've looked for stories on the internet about what's going on in Denver, and they are hard to find, which leads me to believe that things aren't as horrible as you make them sound. Any proof, links, videos, etc, that you could send to back up your statements would be appreciated.

Weitz Construction knew exactly what they were getting into when they took on this job. I have a hard time feeling sorry for them. Do you know that the initial construction documents showed the name of the previous owner (United Airlines) before Planned Parenthood came up with the name "Fuller"? This was a deliberate act of deception on the part of PP, and it's not the first time. PP Aurora (Illinois) built their building last summer under a false name and when they were found out, the head of PP Chicago had the nerve to say "I'm surprised we were able to keep it a secret that long". The were EXPECTING controversy and they were right!

The bottom line to all of this is that abortion is wrong. It is the taking of an innocent human life. If we, as individuals, don't stand up for these babies, who will?
God bless you.

Posted by: Janet at February 9, 2008 12:38 AM

Janet- Yes I do know that the initial construction documents said United Airlines, because United Airlines was who the property was purchased from. What happened was legal. It is legal to file the proper paperwork for permits before the transfer of ownership takes place. It is automatically listed as the owner that still owns the building. All construction sites experience this, because the process of transfer of ownership doesn't happen on the books in the blink of an eye. So that is once again a misperception that Will Duffy and Bob Enyart have used to fuel the fire, because of the incident in Aurora, THEY chose to LIE instead of finding out the truth.

Posted by: Steven at February 10, 2008 5:36 PM

Maybe Weitz was deceived too.

The permits were approved after the change in ownership. (Permits were approved in May 2007 and later under the name of United, not Fuller 38 LLC.)

The sale was finalized on 1/11/07 - the property deed shows transfer of ownership from UA to Fuller 38 LLC on 1/11/07.
