Last week, someone forwarded me a LifeSiteNews.com article listing Life Decisions International's updated partial boycott list of businesses and non-profit organizations that donate or are affiliated with Planned Parenthood.
I spotted two companies our family does business with: Carlson Travel Agencies and Wachovia.
In fact, we were in the process of planning a vacation through Carlson, and I called my agent and said the deal was off if Carlson did not refute. I told the same to our Wachovia rep. Neither was happy about news of the possible PP connection, and both immediately checked into it.
Carlson's corporate response came the next day....
We have just become aware that Life Decisions International has erroneously included Carlson on "The Boycott List" for 2008. It is my understanding that Carlson has not supported Planned Parenthood in any way in 2007. Prior to that time, small amounts had been contributed as directed by employees participating in the company's matching plan program. Our parent company is in the process of notifying the organization so they may correct their information. As someone who cares deeply for children, you may be interested in knowing that....
And the letter went on to describe kid-friendly organizations that Carlson had donated to and received awards from.
My Wachovia rep forwarded me an October 22, 2007, Weekly Standard expose on PP's "unseemly empire" that included this:
[I]n the case of Wachovia, the donations in question had consisted of nugatory sums of a few hundred dollars given by a few distant local branches.
A relevant section of the WS article grabbed my attention:
[O]ne might wonder why corporations that generally shy away from controversial causes and activities continue to donate to the organization. The answer is that, in increasing numbers, they don't, or at least they say they don't....Research for this story included contacting by telephone or email a cross-section of those Life Decisions-listed megacorporations... expecting to hear, for example, praise for PP's teen-pregnancy prevention programs offered as justification for the corporate gifts.
Instead....the uniform responses of the public-relations offices at the firms were either categorical denial or explanations....
Indeed, there is some evidence that the $212.2 million in private contributions reported by PP for its 2005-06 fiscal year might be an exaggeration. For fiscal 2004-05, PP reported $215.8 million in income from private donations and bequests.
That same year, about $61.8 million in "private support" to PP was calculated by the Chronicle of Philanthropy, on the basis of information supplied by PP to the IRS.
Asked what could account for such a large discrepancy, Noelle Barton, a Chronicle editor... said, "They could be counting income from investing previous donations." PP's balance sheet contains no separate entry for investment income....
I was reminded of investments I spotted when viewing PP Chicago Area's tax returns for another post, so I checked PP Federation's and saw it had over $40 million in investments (click to enlarge):
Two points to take away. PP is likely hiding its shrinking donation base by adding in investment income.
And since when do non-profits have over $40 million to invest?
And that was just the nonmother ship. According to Guidestar.com, which posts tax returns of non-profits, 272 PP's across the country filed returns last year.
Below see a partial listing of companies LDI says contribute to PP. To order a complete list, go to LDI's website.

Jill you never answered PIPs question about whether or not you waited until marriage for sex and if you do or do not regret it.
Posted by: Jess at January 15, 2008 10:26 AMJess, I did not. I got pregnant at age 19 and married to my 18-year-old boyfriend (who was still in high school) at 4-1/2 months along. I had my oldest at age 20. I was divorced and a single mom by age 23.
I cannot regret my lapse because that would mean I regret my wonderful son, who has now given me 3 beautiful grandsons.
But our life was hard for a time. And he suffered most for it.

I almost donated to United Way last year as part of my company's effort but a quick google check prevented that. The company rep said that donation only happens to other states NOT in Chicago...and you can specify where you want your donation to go.
But if you check their website, they can use your donation to fund other activities so as to free up their own funds for PP donations.

And let me guess...if Jill had had a PERFECT life you would tell her what a clueless elitist hypocrite she is for speaking out against abortion, since she wouldn't have the slightest idea what it was like to be in a difficult pregnancy situation.

Posted by: mk at January 15, 2008 1:05 PMFF,
I think you should read Jill's post again.
Where does it say her life was nothing but misery and suffering.
She said it was hard for a time. Who's life isn't? She does not regret her lapse and because she has a wonderful son and three beautiful grandsons.
You, the o'sterile wise one seem to have so much to say and so many unfounded opinions about pregnancy and childrearing which you know absulutely nothing about and never will.
PLEASE.
I don't know if anyone knows this...but does American Girl still donate or work with PP? Because I had those dolls when I was little and I really wanted to take Gabriella to the American Girl place in Chicago as a fun day this summer. I won't though if they still have anything to do with PP...which is sad cause I really loved them.

Posted by: Tara at January 15, 2008 4:04 PMJill, again, you take the most mundane things and try to twist them into a case of TEH PLANNED PARENTHOOD IS EEEEEEEVIL!!!1!
Non-profits regularly invest money in order to provide for current and future operating expenses, such as rent, staff salaries, bills, etc. Both the non-profit that I sat on the board of and the one I am currently employed by have investment portfolios to provide a safety net.
Secondly, virtually ALL non-profits are losing donations and members ... the "millennial" generation (those coming of age after 2000) generally don't buy into the membership model their parents did, so many non-profits are seeing a decline in "member" numbers.
Posted by: Anonymous at January 15, 2008 4:22 PMAnonymous,
Why is it that with all the millions of dollars PP makes in "profit" that they don't donate a portion of it to pregnancy crisis centers?
I mean if they really support choice, why don't they really support choice.
Sandy,
Because then people might not have abortions, because you know those pregnancy crisis centers help women CONTINUE a pregnancy. :gasp:
PP wouldn't want that to happen. Where would they get all their money from then?
I mean, business-wise, it makes complete sense..if you ignore the hideous ending of life that they promote.
Posted by: Elizabeth at January 15, 2008 4:50 PMBesides, Crisis Pregnancy Centers lie to their clients. Why would PP have anything to do with them?

See, they're bullies you know, the bully unborn children, they tear their limbs off, they burn and poison them. They're a killing machine that PP. They work for the devil.

My grandmother believed the RCC to be the epitome of evil. Murdering in the name of God. Worshiping idols. Mumbling incantations over objects animate and not. Religionists do tend to project their fears. Some insist upon sensationalistic dramatics.
I suppose it might make life easy to label everything and everyone either good or bad. Just seems shallow and lacking in wisdom and insight to me. Or maybe obsessive/compulsive. Just not healthy.
Is National Right To Life on that boycott list from their supporting candidates who are not pro-life??
NRTL is definitely on my boycott list!

Zeke, regarding NRLC. Get real. You are totally misrepresenting them.
Posted by: Ellie at January 15, 2008 10:21 PMHey there! I have an interesting and honest question to ask. Here in Denver, Colorado Families Against Planned Parenthood is doing home protests towards the contractors. They have stated a project named the Collaborator's Project. If Planned Parenthood is receiving record levels of donations, than doesn't that make CFAPP Collaborator's also, because per Will Duffy's Webster definition of a collaborator,"works jointly with others or together especially in an intellectual endeavor"...which seems to me that they themselves are lining Planned Parenthood pockets?
Posted by: Scott at January 15, 2008 10:45 PMNo Scott, don't be an idiot. CFAPP has not and is not "working jointly with" Planned Parenthood "in an intellectual eendeavor". They are publicly OPPOSING Planned Parenthood.
If you didn't know Scott, to OPPOSE is the opposite of WORKING WITH a person or group.
Also, CFAPP is succeeding with their strategy and has no plans to stop their successful campaign against Planned Parenthood.
Posted by: zeke13:19 at January 15, 2008 10:55 PMBut aren't they working with others or together especially in an intellectual endeavor? Sure they oppose Planned Parenthood, but it works in the opposite direction also, that Planned Parenthood opposes what they are doing?
Posted by: Scott at January 15, 2008 11:00 PMOh, and by the way...they are not succeeding with their strategy, people are being misinformed of the truth as to the success of their protesting.

So Sad Eyed Sally is a three generation bigot. No wonder hating Catholics comes natural to ya Sad Eyed Sally.
So she was the one that taught your family, and you, that sex=death, Sad Eyed Sally.
What kinda site is this to allow Catholic bigots, such as Sally, to post such typical Klan literature and thinking, and allow it to be posted?
Sally has posted hate speech towards Catholics, over, and over, and over, till it has become a site where Jack Chick might as well place a ad.
Sally is a bigot.
A 19th century anti-Catholic mind, that gets free space to spread her bigotry to others.
Does this site need examples of religious bigots, so much, so bad, and so short of anti-Catholic bigots, that it needs to allow the daily anti- Catholic posting of a person named Sally, whose devotion to anti Catholicism, is three generations deep?
Hey, we get it, she's a unashamed anti-Catholic bigot. She is a promoter of hate speech towards Catholics, and serves no purpose here but to promote her heritage of anti-Catholicism.
Hey we get it.
It's natural for Sally to be for abortion since being born into three generations of Catholic bigots, it becomes natural to do/think, the opposite of Catholics.
Hey, we get it.
Sally always goes to default mode and mentions Catholics and child molesters over and over again.
Hey we get it.
Sally knows Catholics are the cause of death and evil since her ancestors were killing Catholics in England,or Germany, or France, or Russia, or Italy, or any state in the USA with the Know Nothing Party, and their idea factory, known as the KKK.
Hey we get it.
Sally always uses her family history and some experience in life to promote death from sex acts.
Hey we get it.
Sally knows that Catholics are superstitious, ignorant peasants, eating Jesus.
Hey we get it.
Sally knows every bigoted anti Catholic site, devoted to lies, propaganda, distortions of the Spanish Inquisition.
Hey, this is a site where anti-Catholics, such as Sally, get stroked, excused, and praised for their honest bigotry towards Catholics.
No one is going to change the natural bigotry of a three generation bigot, named Sad Eyed Sally, that finds value in being a proud, anti-Catholic bigot.
Hey we get it.
Sally gets the chance to insult and degrade Catholic tradition/life/culture, of motherhood for "brown people", from Mexico, imaged in the black sash of the Lady Of Guadalupe.
Hey we get it.
Sally knows Catholics murdered Indians in the "new world".
Hey, we get it.
Sally is allowed to post simply because Sad Eyed Sally needs a free forum to pontificate on her 19th century mind of anti-Catholic bigotry for others to notice.
This site is a home for anti-Catholic bigots, such as the deathsex, cult family of Sally, to get a free ride to post hate speech.
Scott said:

That would only hold if we lived in an AMORAL WORLD which we DO NOT.
Collaborating to bring an end to the violent slaughter of babies is GOOD.
Collaborating to violently slaughter babies is BAD.
See the difference?
No one is saying that collaborating in and of itself is bad, simply that collaborating with a group that exists specificly to murder babies is a very bad thing.
And FYI - CFAPP is having a tremendous impact in through their efforts having encouraged a number of contractors to STOP working on the Planned Barrenhood project and bringing social pressure to those who continue to collaborate with Planned Parenthood.

Actually, Laura hits on a great point. The RCC does not donate to planned parenthood for basically the same reason that Planned Parenthood does not donate to CPC's.
The RCC does not support abortions.
The PP's do not support women choosing life.

Irony of ironies: Sally will not appreciate Catholicism if a "token" Catholic cannot appreciate Sally. If she is continually attacked, she will attack in return, or worse, become numb to the painful insults you hurl at her. If you are busy insulting Sally, and Sally is busy insulting you, how can you pretend to have time to actually commit some action to reducing abortion?

Posted by: Carla at January 16, 2008 7:44 AMJill,
You're right, this is no win for you. You are able to relate your own experience as a woman facing a crisis pregnancy and early difficulties as a young mother. This makes you a "stereotypical caricatured impression of pro-lifers".
Had you been abstinent until marriage, then you would have been the "typical" sanctamonious hypocritical prolifer who is dead to the idea of sex and wants everyone else to be as well. How can you possibly relate to women facing crisis pregnancies?
If anything this better enables to relate to women in these situations.
As for your son "suffering", tell me what child's life is perfect bliss? The idyllic marriage that exists at the time a child is born can be a complete shambles somewhere down the road. There are absolutely NO guarantees in life for any of us no matter what our circumstances.
Charities are donating to Planned Parenthood? Why isn't the money they have going to those truly in need, the people they are supposed to be helping?
How many more children could Save The Children help or Doctors Without Borders save with the money they can find for PP?
Also, people in give to these charities in good faith, my mother included, expecting their donations go to help those truly in need, not to subsidize a multimillion dollar abortion business.
Posted by: Mary at January 16, 2008 8:28 AMTypo alert,

You should be able to debate and converse without the other stuff.
Posted by: Tara at January 16, 2008 8:37 AM@Zeke-
Actually, it seems that you to have been misinformed about the "contractor" situation. They have been telling everyone that they have gotten subcontractors to quit, which is not true. The security guy that quit, didn't quit because he was against PP, he quit because he was scared for himself and his family. There have been no other subcontractors to quit the job. These people are lying to everyone, to make it look like they are having success. There has not ANY subcontractors that have quit.
Btw Samatha, nobody attacked Sally, she is an anti-catholic bigot.
Posted by: jasper at January 16, 2008 9:49 AMJasper, to what end does labeling Sally in derogatory terms serve the purpose for which you have presumably come to this forum? I personally am assured that your heart is good; however, you must consider that to pro-choice advocates (who generally consider "pro-life" and "anti-woman" to be interchangeable) this pointless *attack* on Sally's character only furthers the notion that pro-lifers have no regard for the feeling of the individual woman at large, much less a pregnant one. Now, you may continue to use your abusive approach and further ostracize the pro-life movement from the generation of child-bearing women, or you can reconsider your approach and attempt to actually make some headway. That's all I'm saying, kiddo.
Posted by: SamanthaT at January 16, 2008 11:06 AMpro-choice Samatha,

Look at the top of this thread, they started out attacking my church. What am I suppose to say? "oh, thats Ok Sally, sh** on us all you want" ?
Posted by: jasper at January 16, 2008 11:26 AMThis site allows a anti-Catholic bigot, namned Sally, to post, over and over and over, her useless bigotry.

She is the classic mind, writing, thinking, emotions, of the Klan, and Know Nothing Party of the past centuries.
Which moderator is going to defend this useless,anti-Catholic bigot again?
Going to change a 100 year tradition of a proud anti-Catholic bigot?
Jasper, I am not very good at suggesting tactful language. I am given to your vernacular, which is how I approached this forum. Had I continued to be met with the same hostility, I would have left the same staunch pro-choicer. Instead, I encountered MK, Valerie, and Bethany.

Samantha,
I am not pro-life because what somebody said to me or because a pro-lifer kissed my butt, all I had to do was look the photos of the multilated babies. If your decision to become pro-life is on such shaky ground that it might flip because what somebody might say to you, you're probably not really pro-life in the first place.
Posted by: jasper at January 16, 2008 6:15 PMJasper, I really am not concerned with your assessment of my commitment to this cause. No one has any right to expect Sally to respect his faith when he will not respect her at all. Pictures don't amount to a hill of beans when you are actually a woman facing an unplanned and unwanted pregnancy, and if you can't develop the tactics to meet that woman where she is, she is not going to give you the time of day. For all you know, Sally could be a woman facing this very choice right now.
Bethany, YAY!! I have been so busy with classes. Jessica had a little boy -- they named him Jimi Tyler Lee. She and Mickey were married in September, and Jimi was born the day after Thanksgiving. The picture you sent is in the nursery!

You play the martyr very easily Jasper. My grandmother had solid personal Biblical and historic reason to fear the RCC. I doubt if you can say the same over your fear of women having the choice over gestation.
If you wish to present the RCC as some type of moral authority, be prepared to defend the assertion. If you could manage that, you might actually have reason to insist their pronouncements of import to the process of government.
"You play the martyr very easily Jasper. My grandmother had solid personal Biblical and historic reason to fear the RCC."
why?
Posted by: jasper at January 16, 2008 9:22 PMSally is a bigot.
She is now trying to become a victim to justify her anti Catholicism.
She is the Klan. The Klan always found a Catholic offended them personally, within their family.
The Klan also found Jews and African Americans offended their family too. This Klanswomen is going to justify her hate speech, as all bigots do, by playing the victim card from a hundred year old "honor offence".
This shows the deception within this anti Catholic bigot which has no excuse to post such anti-Catholic bigotry at a pro life site.
Unless the moderator must have such bigots for the sake of argument.
What gives here? Free passes for anti-Catholic bigots at a pro life site? Hey, we get it. Sally is a proud anti-Catholic bigot.
She offers a example of the 19th century Klan mind. Hey we get it already!!!
She is member of a cult family that finds its unity in being anti Catholic bigots.
A death cult, that makes sex into a death experience for generations.
This site needs her to post about her Klan family mishaps with Catholics? How pathetic of a pro life site.
girl scouts and kiwani's??????
Posted by: Truthseeker at January 17, 2008 3:19 AMWell Tara,
Anti Catholic bigotry at a pro life site is being posted over, and over, and over, by Sally.
Care to defend or ignore the bigot Tara?
I am not going to ignore the mind and hate speech of a anti Catholic posting bigot.
And for you Tara, I didn't post to you. Don't read my post concerning Sally's anti-Catholicism, unless your a defender of Sally's bigotry.
In which case, that makes two anti-Catholic bigots getting a free ride to post their hate for Catholics at a pro life site.

The obstacle is I haven't been getting enough sleep. I am overcoming the obstacle by going to bed now.
Posted by: Truthseeker at January 17, 2008 4:03 AMYella,
I'm am pro-life, and Sally and Texas Red have both said some really nasty and cruel things to me. But I try not to stoop to that level when it happens.
Even though I am Presbyterian, my husband is Catholic. In case you forgot Catholics and Protestants are all Christians. I may not agree with all the policies of the Catholic Church, but we agree on the essentials. And being overtly ugly is not being Catholic. So no I do not defend Sally's assertions of the Catholic Church, but she is a human being created by our Lord Almighty, and should be treated as such. And all of us forget that when were mad. I will defend my faith to my last breath, but I try to do it in love and understanding, bc Jesus would have me do nothing less. He is my role model.
So no spewing angry words back and forth does not do any good. It only makes the other side think they are right. See Catholics are hateful, intolernat etc. and you and I both know that is not true at all. Jesus said speak the truth in love and compassion, and that is a challenge when someone directly assualts our faith. Jesus said do not worry about what to say, for the Holy Spirit will lead you in what to say. The Truth is the Truth. While Sally has said she was a Christian, I don't think she knew Jesus. Because He is such a precious gift, that once you know Him, there is no way one would turn away. So peace yellas. God is bigger then Sally and Texas Red and you and I.

Congratulations to Jessica...Jimi is a cute name. I'm delighted to hear they still have that picture! :)
Tara.
Sally is a anti-Catholic bigoted human being, created by God, and made into a bigot by her family history of being three generations of anti-Catholic bigots. She is the Klan for the 21th century, posting 19th century anti-Catholic ideas and thoughts.
Sally is a anti-Catholic bigot.
No anger, just a fact.
Sally is from a family that finds worth in making sex into a death act. Fact.
Sally prowls this site in search of Catholics to degrade. FACT.
If Sally is a Christian, and your defending her past, personal form of Christianity(the KLAN Christians), that honors Christ through murdering his creation of a man and women, your doing the work of a post modern relativist unable to know a anti-Catholic bigot when you see one posting.
And by me even wasting my time posting to you Tara, accomplishes what that three generation anti-Catholic bigot wanted!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get this STRAIGHT Tara.
Sally spews anti-Catholic hate speech. End of story. Why don't you condemn Sally and write a post mentioning her anti-Catholic bigotry? Tell her to stop writing anti-Catholic post formed from being a three generation bigot.
No, you wrote a post to me. And the nerve to write, "see Catholics are intolerant".
Have you defended Catholics being defamed at this site by that anti-Catholic bigot named Sally? No. How Christian of you Tara.
This site allows, through pusillanimous needs and wants of argument, anti-Catholic bigots a free pass to post hate speech of Catholics.
And when writing about the allowance of such anti-Catholic bigotry, gets some person to accuse, by inference, a Catholic of being intolerent.

Posted by: Jessica at January 18, 2008 5:06 AMYellas,
Sally is not a Christian as far as I can tell by her posts. But that doesn't mean she has no worth. I would be unChristian if I had the, I'm better then everyone else attitude. I know that I am a sinner needing the Savior Jesus Christ. I know that I am far from perfect and I don't have all the answers, hence I ask our meriful and gracious Lord for wisdom. We should be praying for Sally and others who do not know how much God loves them, and how he pursues them like Jesus said in the Parable of the lost Sheep. He came for the sick, the lost, the hopeless, those who morn, the brokenhearted.
I have told Sally she has been mean at times. I have defended all Christians on this site, Yellas reguardless if he or she is Catholic or Protestant. Again we are all Christians. Obvioiusly you have not read many of my posts about faith.
WE MUST speak the truth in love and compassion for our Lord did the same. He got mad at those who thought they were better. I think where the adultress is about to be stoned and he asks those whoever is without sin cast the first one. He did not condone her actions for he told her she was forgiven, but SIN no more. But is was a warning and lesson for the rest of us that no one is without sin (belivers or nonbelievers).
WE MUST defend our faith to our dying breath, but we will be held accountable for HOW we do that. Stephen is a great example for us, he died for his faith in Jesus. So while Saul looked on while his croonies stoned him to death, Stephen asked our Lord Jesus Christ to forgive them, and have mercy on them. And Jesus had compassion on Saul on the road to Damscus where Jesus called to him, and chnaging the course of Paul's life forever.
So there is always hope for those who do not know Christ and we need to share our faith as seed planters. It is the Holy Spirit's job towater, cultivate, sow and reap at His time not mine or anyone elses.
So while I understand your anger at Sally for slamming the Catholic Church, hurling personal insults is not going to help her or anyone else come to know Him. I stand by that. We are Christ's Ambassadors here on earth, and those who claim to follow him are held to a higher standard of behavior. And that understanding alone has huge implications for us. So pray next time before you answer one of Sally's angry posts. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the right words. But I do try to never respond to personal attacks by doing the same, and ask the for guidence first. Do I fail YES, and then I must ask forgiveness from God, and say sorry to the offended party. I say this bc God told us that before we come to Him with a petition, if we have a grievence, we must make amends on our side.

yllas, you do come across as not only intolerant but as excessively hateful, hateful well beyond the issues on this message board, enough so that in my opinion some or all of it is rooted in self-hatred.
I think that almost all if not all people here see this also.
