Selective enforcement

Aurora attorney and resident Vince Tessitore received the following letter today in response to his letter to the City of Aurora yesterday demanding that it enforce ordinances against Planned Parenthood for unlawfully occupying its mill after its temporary occupancy permit expired Monday.

Tessitore used the word "occupancy" twice, and "occupy," "occupying," and "occupation" each once. He couldn't have been more specific on what matter he wished addressed except had he added "occupied," "occupier," or "occupationality" perhaps.

Yet Aurora corporation attorney Alayne Weingartz responded that she would check whether PP had opened for business, a poorly disguised blow-off.

Meanwhile, Aurora police harrass pro-lifers if they sneeze on Planned Parenthood air space.

Comments:

I was at the PP site in Aurora on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 from approximately 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, and again from 5:30 pm until 8:00 pm. At approximately 12:15 pm I observed several persons, male and female entering and exiting the front entrance of the PP facility. I observed tables being set-up in front of the entrance and items being placed on the tables.

Some of these items were various pieces of published literature promoting PP's services.

Therefore it seems that Planned Parenthood in Aurora WAS INDEED CONDUCTING BUSINESS BY SOLICITING CLIENTS.

Therefore they were in violation of not only occupying the premises, but also of conducting business, and PP should be held in violation of ILLEGAL OCCUPANCY.

On Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, WBBM AM 780 Radio in Chicago reported on the occupancy permit question. A spokesperson (not sure if it was Ergo from the city or a PP person) claimed that even though a temporary occupancy permit may have expired, it is not uncommon for construction workers to be in and out of a building, and that in fact, the PP facility in Aurora is not completely finished and that construction workers are still entering and exiting the building.

As I said above in my previous post, I was at the PP site almost all day on Tues. Sept, 18. Througout the day, I saw persons entering and exiting the building, but I did not see any construction workers or construction vehicles, or any evidence of construction workers entering or exiting the building. I did see large folding tables being set up in front of the entrance. Literature was placed on these tables which I was able to see when someone obtained samples of brochures and showed them to me. In the late afternoon and early evening, food was placed on the tables for the PP employees and supporters to "celebrate" their killing center.

I celebrated that it was CLOSED!

You had nothing better to do with your day than to stalk other people?

Posted by: JKeller at September 20, 2007 7:14 AM

JK demonstrates mistaken identity as to who the stalkers are.

Posted by: Jill Stanek at September 20, 2007 7:54 AM

A person sitting outside of a building for an entire day observing who walks into said building and what they are doing is not a stalker? Okay is Paul a cop on a stakeout? Did his commanding officer require him to do this?

Posted by: JKeller at September 20, 2007 8:01 AM

You sound rather unbalanced Paul.

Posted by: Sally at September 20, 2007 8:01 AM

JK,

Perhaps you are unaware that there is a prayer vigil being kept outside of the clinic, so there are ALWAYS people there, praying.

Perhaps you are also unaware that this is a HUGE battle that is going on, and wanting to know what your "enemy" is doing, is good war strategy.

I personally commend Paul for his vigilance. I would be there myself if I could. As it is I've been out there three times and it's an hour and a half away...

Paul,

That was a very interesting observation that you made...about conducting business by soliciting...hmmmm...wonder if we could use that somehow....good work!

Posted by: mk at September 20, 2007 8:15 AM

Sally, I wouldn't be so quick to judge if I were you.

Posted by: heather at September 20, 2007 8:16 AM

I think if Paul was praying he should be keeping his eyes on the Lord instead of looking around to see what others are doing. Its Sunday School 101.

Posted by: JKeller at September 20, 2007 8:19 AM

JK,

Is everything okay? You seem out of sorts lately?
Am I projecting or is something up?

Posted by: mk at September 20, 2007 8:22 AM

Again JK,

In a war, it helps to know what you're enemy is up to...

Posted by: mk at September 20, 2007 8:23 AM

I was b**ched at unwarrantedly and the continuous double standard has pissed me off.

Posted by: JKeller at September 20, 2007 8:25 AM

Jkeller, can you tell me where the double standard is?

Yesterday, I explained that Jill had not insulted you or most pro-choicers when she posted what she posted about Planned Parenthood. You understood that this was true, at least I thought. I deleted, not only the posts that were blasphemous (against the rules), but also a post about fetus eating (from a pro-lifer) which Erin had requested we delete. I deleted it from her post and the original commenters post. I do not see how there is a double standard at all. Unless there are other posts I am not aware of that violated some rule?

Posted by: Bethany at September 20, 2007 9:13 AM

Just another note ...as of yesterday, when this happened, the mods, Jill, and I came up with a rules list which I have set up now and you can see from the right hand corner. If you see anyone violating any of these rules, just send me or any of the mods, or Jill an email, and we'll handle it. Thanks. :)

Bethany,

Stick those applauding hands up there...
RULES RULE!

Hey JK. I'm just curious- is that icon on your web page you? The one with the dark black hair next to where it says jk1003? Thanks, God love you.

Oh, and you're into Skid Row? Sebastian Bach rocks! Slave to the Grind is one of the greatest albums of all time.

Posted by: Bobby Bambino at September 20, 2007 9:33 AM

JKeller,

Before you get bent out of shape, I don't think Bobby meant that as an insult...he just didn't recognize Severus Snape. He may be a Sebastian Bach fan, but apparently he's not a Harry Potter fan. :)

Bobby,
That's a character from Harry Potter. JKeller is a girl/woman. And she's much cuter.

Posted by: mk at September 20, 2007 9:44 AM

" JKeller is a girl/woman. And she's much cuter."

Oh, I'm sorry about that. I'm still trying to learn who people are. Yeah, I don't know Harry Potter...

Posted by: Bobby Bambino at September 20, 2007 10:07 AM

There are always people in a building before the final occupancy permit is issued. You people seriously need to relax about this thing. What Paul describes (after another wasted day spying) does not appear to be in violation of any law.

Posted by: Hal at September 20, 2007 10:50 AM

JKeller -

Maybe you are unaware of this, but the majority of crimes that get "foiled" are because of citizens watching and then reporting. Many Pedophiles and rapist are eventually caught because people pay attention and keep their eyes open once a pic of the person has been publisized. The Amber alerts work so well because of regular citizens that watch and then report.

It has nothing to do with stalking. If it did, many, many criminals would be out on the streets. (Not to mention that I know of 2 statutory rapists that were caught by demonstrators noticing their cars at the abortion clinics.)

Posted by: valerie at September 20, 2007 10:58 AM

Just to clarify -

IN the first paragraph I'm not saying that the rapist and pedophiles were caught at abortion clinics by protesters.... It was a basic observation of how citizens can help...

.......................

Just an observation Bethany. Lurking around PP seems a bit obsessive to me. But I guess everyone needs a hobby.

..................................

Are you attempting to assert that rapes and pedophilia are being perpetrated at PP and this has been observed by protesters? If I were to walk into PP with my son would you assume that I was pregnant and he was my sex partner? Do explain what about a person's car proves that the driver is a rapist or pedophile.

Posted by: Sally at September 20, 2007 12:47 PM

Hal,

I don't know where you are from but any place of building if you are going to occupy it, you need the occupancy certificates/permits.

We are having a new office built here and none of the workers are going in and out AND we can not move into the new suite until we get the certificate/permit of occupancy.

That said, PP IS breaking the law.

Posted by: Ruth at September 20, 2007 3:07 PM

Hey guys,

I was there praying, peacefully protesting, and observing what the PPers were doing.

And I celebrated that the place was closed...

and the BABIES ARE LIVING!

And I am doubly celebrating today that PP Aurora is STILL CLOSED, and...

THE BABIES ARE STILL LIVING !! THANK YOU JESUS !

Posted by: Paul at September 20, 2007 4:08 PM

"THE BABIES ARE STILL LIVING !! THANK YOU JESUS !"

If Jesus is responsible for the closing of this clinic is he also responsible for all the other ones being open?

Posted by: Hal at September 20, 2007 4:45 PM

Hal,
"If Jesus is responsible for the closing of this clinic is he also responsible for all the other ones being open?"

come on Hal, how are we going to respond to that comment? I think you know.

Posted by: rosie at September 20, 2007 7:47 PM

Sally, excuse me, but fighting abortion IS my hobby!

Posted by: heather at September 21, 2007 12:54 AM

Hal, the devil opened those. Hal, don't you understand that abortion is evil? You and your wife aborted 2 of your own children. I don't understand how you can sit by and call it a good thing. They were your children!

Posted by: heather at September 21, 2007 8:18 AM

Heather, we just disagree on that.

I don't believe abortion is "evil." I understand that you think it is. I'm not sure if you're serious about "the devil." If you are, we disagree about that too.

Posted by: Hal at September 21, 2007 11:29 AM

Hal,

I don't know if you have living children right now. But if you do, would it be okay for you or someone else to kill them?

If it is not okay, then how can you justify killing your previously living children in your wife's womb?

If you answer, "That was our choice," then you are in serious denial.

Through prayer, fasting and peaceful protesting, we are trying to spare mothers and fathers like you and your wife from horror of abortion. It is so horrible that you have blocked the reality of it in your own mind.

You must wake up to that fact and admit what you and your wife did was gravely wrong. You must seek forgiveness from God and from each other.

You don't realize that abortion is something far bigger than you imagine.

Posted by: Paul at September 23, 2007 1:50 AM

Paul, that "far bigger" is in your mind. You see things one way, Hal sees them another. You can't prove your religious beliefs, but Hal knows darn well how he and his wife feel.

Of course it wouldn't be okay for someone to kill the born kids. They are not inside the body of a person. They have had rights attributed to them. They are independent people, with emotions, memories, the ability to suffer, relationships with many people, and they are "in the family" for Hal and his wife. You may not think this stuff matters, but the fact is that it matters a huge amount, to many people. This is why the unborn are much, much different from the born - one enormous difference alone is they way they are perceived by thinking, feeling people.

I know you feel differently, and the obvious thing is for you and yours not to have abortions. But your unproven beliefs in no way are any logical nor persuasive reasons for others to see things your way nor to do what you say in this matter. People have been having miscarriages and abortions for thousands and thouands of years, and the world and our societies have gone on, and are going on, despite the fact that there are always people like you who are in effect "wringing their hands" about one thing or another.

Doug

I am opposed to abortion and I would never have one. But I resent being forced to pay for other people's abortions through the tax money the government takes from me and gives to Planned Parenthood. Therefore, it IS my business when others fail to see the humanity of their own offspring and choose to exterminate their own children with my money.
