Posted by: Josh Brahm at March 16, 2009 2:03 PMYes, this video is hilarious. However, is is at the same time horrifically ironic and tragic.
I was 16 when Woodstock happened only a few hours from my house. I wasn't allowed to go.
The friends that did go were influenced by the drug culture and over half of them have either been murdered or have OD'd on drugs.
The insanity of this video is sadly a testimony to my generation. The magnified narcisissm, the self-absorbtion, the ingrained rebellion, the use of twisted words, the uncontrolled actions, are all antagonistic of the fruits of the Spirit.
It is no wonder that my generation legalized abortion, took God out of schools and liberalized our government, all of which have resulted in the destruction of our country. I apologize to all of you kids on this site since until I was about 23 I allowed the Joe Cocker mentality to influence me and I too contributed to the gross mayhem. Praise God for His mercy and grace.
Perhaps today's generation will rebel against the debauchery of my generation, repent and seek God with their whole hearts, their whole souls, and their whole minds and be healed of this wretchedness. If not, we are destroyed.
Posted by: HisMan at March 16, 2009 4:20 PMOk, when I watched this the first two times it kept stopping right after "would you stand up and walk out on me."
I thought, "Heh, that's kind of clever, but I don't really get what the big deal is..."
Only after seeing Hisman's comment did I try to play it again and I watched the whole thing. Very funny.
Posted by: Lauren at March 16, 2009 5:03 PMI don't find the humor very funny. Joe Cocker is a great performer. He slurred some words 40 years ago and you guys want to laugh at him? Ok.
I don't know what HisMan means by the "destruction of our country." We have a great country. Try to count your blessings HisMan.
Posted by: hal at March 16, 2009 5:32 PMYep, Drugs can really ruin a life. It's hard enough to do the right thing when sober.
Posted by: Janet at March 16, 2009 5:32 PMHal,
Gun violence is one example. TWENTY-SEVEN Chicago Public School CHILDREN have been killed this school year, now surpassing the total for the previous year, twenty-six. The greatest fear of children in the city is "getting shot".
How can we expect to foster a respect for life in a country where adults can legally abort their own children?

How could we foster a respect for liberty and freedom if the government could legally prevent a woman from terminating a pregnancy?
Hal, we foster a respect for liberty and freedom right now, even though the government legally prevents women from killing their 5 year olds.
What's the difference?
Posted by: Lauren at March 16, 2009 5:46 PMHere we go again.
In the view of some of us, the rights of a five week old fetus are not the same as the rights of a five year old child. I know you disagree.
I'm glad we have taken God out of the public schools, glad that we have a more liberal government recently, glad that women who want an abortion can have one without breaking the law. In essence, everything HisMan would want in the good ole' USA are things I would oppose. (not entirely true, I figure there is more we agree on than separates us, but it seems that way at times)
Posted by: hal at March 16, 2009 5:56 PMHal, that doesn't answer the question I asked.
The question isn't what is a fetus. The question is: Why do you contend that outlawing prenatal killing would remove liberty and freedon when outlawing post-natal killing has not had this affect?

Hal, why would you want more death?
Posted by: HisMan at March 16, 2009 6:58 PMOkay bethany - that almost killed me.

************************************
Me too! :D
Looks like the topic has changed, but I'm still laughing from the Joe Cocker video...
Posted by: Kel at March 16, 2009 7:09 PMAnd for the record, I can NEVER understand Joe Cocker. Or Elton John, for that matter. Has nothing to do with drugs and everything to do with their style of singing.
Anybody remember the "choppin' broccoli" skit from SNL with Dana Carvey? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-G1R2Yye4c It starts around 2:16. I always think of this now when I can't understand lyrics. :D
Posted by: Kel at March 16, 2009 7:16 PMHal, why would you want more death?
Posted by: HisMan at March 16, 2009 6:58 PM
So we can have more life?
I don't really understand your question. Where did I say anything about more death?
By the way HisMan, I can't get that image of Noah and all those animals on a boat in a great flood out of my mind, thank you for that.
how many generations of incest were necessary to get the Earth repopulated. How many in Noah's family were Asian?
Posted by: hal at March 16, 2009 7:47 PMAmerica is not a theocracy, that is why God was taken out of schools. That is why there are Catholic schools, Muslim schools, whatever schools available to those who want their kids to have God at school. Nothing wrong with that.
Posted by: Leah at March 16, 2009 8:42 PMHal, IMO you've lost your sense of humor. I thought this video was hilarious. Can't quite go as far as HM to blame Cocker's kinetic moves and slurred words on drugs. That's what Cocker's known for. I just thought the interpretation of what he said along with the pop ups was really funny.

Hal:
Death is opposite of life. It is only the creative power of God that brings life. Death in and of itself never brings forth life unless the power of God is introduced, period. That's why He commands, "Thou shalt not murder" because it is opposite His nature. That's why He hates sin and unbelief because it brings forth more death as obviated by the abortion holocaust.
It doesn't take long for the trivial molecular variations among so called "races" to develop.
Just look at how many diifferent types of dogs have been bred over the last 300 years and I'm not talking about evolution as I don't know of any dogs that were bred to be cats or birds.
So, out of Noah's three sons and their wives, (without the incest you sarcastically inferred) and two of each animal kind (and the word kind is extremely important) and after 6,000 years we have all of the current human races and animal species today. What's the big deal? Do you know what an exponent is or the concept of logarithmic theory? Do you understand what a binary system is? 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2....x 2 , etc. Figure it out.
Take 6000 years, divide that by 20 (number of years in a generation) which is 325. Now what is 2 to the 325 power? It's astronomical. Now that's just 2 people having 2 kids each. The actual number over the last 6000 years is much higher than that. Why is it so hard for you to understand that from just three couples we now have over 6 billion people on the planet of many different races or "nations".
And don't forget this. This was God's will so He would make sure that His will was done.
Open your eyes Hal and your mind.
