Comments:

His rendition ot the National Anthem was fantastic. It did seam that the people there in the picture thought it was entertainmeent. I didn't see one respectful pose. Hand over heart is the pose I thought would be appropriate.

I do not mean to be overly disrespectful to commentators on this story or to the author, but why is it appropriate to put our hands over our hearts when listening to the national anthem? The Church is precisely that group of people who acknowledges Jesus Christ as Lord of all. Why must we declare allegiance to a country that does not acknowledge that? In all of our support for the pro-life position and other Church teachings, we must remember that we are citizens of a heavenly kingdom, and Christian revelation (Scripture and Tradition), as well as history, demonstrates the dangers of offering our allegiance to another kingdom. Our defense of Christian moral teaching must always begin with our central claim of Jesus' lordship over all creation.
