I just don't bother with all of this "how well can you sing someone else's pop song" business. Everyone who wins on one of these shows sounds exactly the same to me. You take a Johnny Cash or a Björk or a Michael Stipe and you realize that they'd NEVER succeed on these shows because of their distinctive voices. But now ask me if I'd rather listen to one of them or to Carrie Underwood.
