Bethany has told her Happy to Be Called Mommy blog readers about a new piece of jewelry that may be of interest to special mothers:
I found a charm online for memorializing an unborn child today.... [I]t might be just the thing someone is looking for to memorialize their baby lost through miscarriage. It's so precious and sweet.
The charm can be purchased here.
I think this would be a touching memory charm for post-abortive mothers to wear, too.
Comments:
Oh, I love it!
Posted by: Carla at May 19, 2009 10:34 AMI want to get one for my mother so badly now! That's so beautiful.
Posted by: Vannah at May 19, 2009 11:11 AMI'm going to order that next paycheck.
Can pewter get wet?
I'm going to get 3 for my mother, for my brother Christopher and my two other siblings I lament that I never got the chance to know. My tears will show them I miss them, but these small tokens will show my mother that I care. Thank you, Jill.
Posted by: xalisae at May 19, 2009 2:16 PMcalled my sister and hopefully we'll be able to make some sort of 6-way effort between my other brothers and sisters and myself. Why don't more places offer things like this?
Posted by: xalisae at May 19, 2009 2:25 PMCarder, there is also one in Silver if you are worried about pewter:

Xalisae,
That is so sweet! I hope Mom loves it.
The pendant must have been designed by a pro-choice person, the supposed "fetus" looks like a blob of tissue. Maybe I'll get one after all.
Posted by: Yo La Tengo at May 19, 2009 8:06 PMWow, YLT... you just can't let anyone be happy about anything without trying to be a wet rag, can you?
Grow up.
Posted by: Elisabeth at May 19, 2009 8:11 PMYlt, I would love it if you ordered one. Then you could finally have a heart!
Posted by: Bethany at May 19, 2009 9:25 PMThis is sweet. I've never lost a child, but I'd wear it anyway.
Posted by: heather at May 19, 2009 9:26 PMI'm ordering mine right now.
Posted by: Bethany at May 19, 2009 9:29 PMXalisae, that is so kind of you to do for your family. I know it will mean so much to them.

Posted by: Yo La Tengo at May 19, 2009 8:06 PM-------------------------------------------------------- I doubt it. I mean, everyone knows what a tiny baby looks like. One doen't watch the test strip turn pink and begin pushing the baby out the next day.
Posted by: heather at May 19, 2009 10:05 PMWhen you're a baby, you will eventually turn into a toddler, and the an adolescent. Embryo, fetus and zygote are all stages of child development!
Posted by: heather at May 19, 2009 10:09 PM..then you'll turn into a young adult, middle aged adult, older adult, and then a senior citizen.

In response to the above post: I am the person who designed this pendant and I am NOT pro-choice! This design was based on an ultrasound photo of MY BABY that died at 14 weeks and it was NOT a blob of tissue.
In response to everyone else who had kind things to say, I want to thank you for your support and encouragement.
Posted by: wendy at May 25, 2009 9:42 AMWendy, thank you for creating the unborn child pendant. I received mine in the mail today and it is beautiful. http://bethany.preciousinfants.com/2009/05/27/my-charm-came-today.aspx
