Host Dylan Ratigan had the nerve to accuse pro-lifers of interjecting our ideology into the healthcare debate, which is exactly backward. The man had obviously done no research on the topic, merely bleating pro-abort spin that pro-lifers are attempting to advance the line, when actually we're just trying to hold the line.
Katie did a great job scoring talking points that pro-lifers now represent the majority in America, and there are many more problems with healthcare than abortion. Katie also reoriented the abortion conversation to its foundational point, the personhood of preborns. Too bad Ratigan cut her off before she could respond to his idiotic boast that we are simply ignorant about when life begins, with which no biologist or scientist would concur.
Katie was great...

Katie Walker was fabulous the way she emphasized the new pro-life majority in America, and EXPANDED the pro-life "anti-abortion" discussion to include Personhood, citing all the socialist eugenics evils in the current bill: euthanasia, rationing, abortion, etc... She really turned that interview around in seconds!!!Posted by: MEL at November 30, 2009 3:08 PM
Man, it is like these lap dog media types take a combination of steroids and amphetamines before they are scheduled to interview people who have a problem including elective surgery in the B.O. 'hellish care plan'.
This guy trying to out 'Matthews' Chris Matthews.
Dylan Ratigan is living proof on display that, 'One fool can ask more questions that a hundred wise men can answer.'
I have found it is really difficult to listen while your own tongue is wagging like a puppy dog at meal time.
It is wonder mr. Ratigan did not pee his pretty pink panties that he had all in a wad.
Mr. Ratigan, I suggest that you drink lots of purified water and go for some long leisurely walks to expedite cleansing your body and your soul of the mental and physical toxins that have poisoned your understanding.

Katie is too kind. She should have given 'duelin dealin' a much deserved backhanded verbal beyatch slap 'across his uppity flappin lips.

D.R. just who might you be when you are at home and do you have your mom's/wife's/husband's permission to say?

As a Jew, my definition of personhood, based on Talumudic teachings, is different from that of the Roman Catholic church. Does the Catholic church feel that it's views are more "true" than Judaism and that therefore the Catholic church has jurisdiction over a Jewish woman's body?Posted by: sabra at November 30, 2009 5:51 PM
Please give me some hint about what a Jewish person believes about the nature of the human person. Roman Catholics hold that the human being is of an incomprehenceable high value. We have learned this from our original (Jewish) leader, Jesus.
Was Jesus wrong? Is Rabbi Abraham Heschel, author of 'God In Search of Man', wrong? Has Victor Frankel (psychiatrist and author of 'Man's Search For Meaning') been wrong? Please, explain. I'd love to know how killing your own baby, is somehow liberating to a Jewish woman/any woman?Posted by: John McDonell at November 30, 2009 7:36 PM
The Catholic Church's current position on abortion is based on pure science. Upon fertilization, a new human person is created. Modern science tells us when life begins, based on unique DNA, etc., so I would characterize "personhood" as a Catholic idea.
What is your position, based on Talmudic teachings, on personhood? Does science affect your position?
I was able to find one interesting source of info. "Jewish Perspectives on Abortion" but I don't know how accurate it is. Do you have a source? Thanks.Posted by: Janet at November 30, 2009 7:53 PM
".....a Jewish woman's body?" When you're pregnant, Sabra, you're pregnant with someone ELSE'S body. The GOD of The Old Testament is the SAME GOD of The New Testament, Sabra. I am not Catholic, but the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, The God who said "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations". Jeremiah 1:5 is The same God you and I BOTH know.Posted by: Pamela at November 30, 2009 7:57 PM
Not all people who are opposed to murdering prenatal humans are catholic. Some are even humanists.
Though our 'faith' may confirm our science, the science stands on it's own.
Isn't is true that Jewish thought teaches that when you murder someone you do not only murder them, but every one who would have flowed from them?
This why during the seder the conversation amongst the participants has them in solidarity with their ancesters who were held in bondage more than 3,000 years ago.
"WE" were in bondgage.
When your mom was pregnant with you what species of embryo/fetus was present in her womb?
Are you even in solidarity with your own pre-natal self?

Sabra, are you aware of what National Socialist Eugenics is? Are you aware of what Hitler & the NAZI party did to Jews in concentration camps, and who Margaret Sanger is? What is being sold to America by the Democratic Party is Eugenics. And eventually, the state will have the final say over what happens to a Jewish woman's body. By the way, YOU were a Jewish woman inside your mother's womb, whether you choose to believe it or not.Posted by: MEL at November 30, 2009 11:00 PM
