Worst headline of the week

The woman who called partial birth abortion a "legitimate medical procedure" was quoted for this ironic headline on Politico.com. Michelle Obama said on 60 Minutes Sunday she hopes the White House will be "full of life and energy." Quite the contrary, it will be full of energy to kill life.

There's plenty of life in the United States. I agree with Virgina, you're really reaching for ways to insult the future first lady.

Posted by: Hal at November 19, 2008 3:31 PM

I have next to no sympathy for those who support abortion, especially those who go out of their way to support partial birth abortions.

Whatever insults she garnishes over the issue are well deserved in my opinion.

So the Whitehouse will put forward a face. When the new wears off, the media will get nasty again.

abortion has robbed us of future doctors, nurses, teachers, researchers, (authors)/ writers, governors, mayors, architects, marine biologists, Veterinarians, Chefs, football players, ballerinas, firefighters, police officers and the list goes on. Need I say more?

Posted by: LizFromNebraska at November 19, 2008 4:33 PM

No offense Liz, but abortion has also robbed us of murderers, theifs, dictators and so forth.

Abortion isnt wrong because of the potential that is prevents...it is wrong because of what it does in the exact moment.

I don't think they walk around their house getting psyched about abortions, guys. Come on.

But please, keep trying to change minds by insulting people. When I read these comments, I'm a little embarrassed. If someone was on the fence on the issue, you'd push them to pro-choice... not pro-life.

Yeah those homosexuals can get awfully violent Virginia. It must be all that testosterone. Oh wait...

I agree with Oliver, Liz. If abortion kills doctors and nurses I must also kill thief's and rapist, ect. Abortion has probably killed a few abortionists too. Heck if my parents aborted me you'd all be a lot happier.

Well Carla it's kind of like how a person shouldn't put on a white robe and talk about white power in Harlem the day after MLK was assassinated.

And now I've heard some doctors have cured a person with Aids. They didn't say they had a definite cure yet, but they did cure that one person. If God sent Aids to punish homosexuals, maybe this is God's way of telling us that homosexuality is not wrong?

Josephine, radical homosexuals seem to be gaining support through their extremely hateful actions.

Pro-lifers are, by comparison, very reserved. Perhaps the lesson we should take from that is that we're not being angry and militant enough?

The wrath of God is indeed being revealed from heaven against every impiety and wickedness of those who suppress the truth by their wickedness. For what can be known about God is evident to them, because God made it evident to them. Ever since the creation of the world, his invisible attributes of eternal power and divinity have been able to be understood and perceived in what he has made. As a result, they have no excuse; for although they knew God they did not accord him glory as God or give him thanks. Instead, they became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless minds were darkened. While claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes. Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural, and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity. And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper.
They are filled with every form of wickedness, evil, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, rivalry, treachery, and spite. They are gossips
and scandalmongers and they hate God. They are insolent, haughty, boastful, ingenious in their wickedness, and rebellious toward their parents.
They are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.
-Paul

For just a moment, imagine it is a group of angry Christians that begins to attack a group of homosexuals. Beating them, shouting at them, sexually assaulting them, pouring hot coffee on them.
Golly gee whiz, I wonder if that story would make some headlines?

Also, I saw NO mention of arrests made of any of the angry gays.

FYI, I'm not arguing that we should become angrier and more militant. Just pointing out the ridiculous double-standard, AGAIN. Well, John, perhaps you've noticed a particular poster here and throughout the internets seeking to get some random unelected judge in a robe to rule that Senator Obama cannot be sworn in.

Posted by: hal at November 20, 2008 10:02 AM

Yeah, Hal, but he has an actual reason why Obama shouldn't be sworn in. That's his mistake.

We should be like the radical gays and say that Obama shouldn't be president because we don't want him to be president. Then we'll gain converts, because that's the kind of intelligent argumentation that the gays use.

Posted by: John Lewandowski at November 20, 2008 10:15 AM

Well, the people against Prop 8 have a legitimate issue too:

The lawsuits allege that, on its face, Proposition 8 is an improper revision rather than an amendment of the California Constitution because, in its very title, which was "Eliminates the right to marry for same-sex couples," the initiative eliminated an existing right only for a targeted minority. If permitted to stand, Proposition 8 would be the first time an initiative has successfully been used to change the California Constitution to take way an existing right only for a particular group. Such a change would defeat the very purpose of a constitution and fundamentally alter the role of the courts in protecting minority rights. According to the California Constitution, such a serious revision of our state Constitution cannot be enacted through a simple majority vote, but must first be approved by two-thirds of the Legislature.

Posted by: hal at November 20, 2008 10:18 AM

Right; the lawsuit is total BS, and amounts to "We don't like Prop 8, so it should be struck down."

So that's what we should say - We don't like Obama, so he shouldn't be president.

Posted by: John Lewandowski at November 20, 2008 10:31 AM

All the radical gays are doing is saying that Prop 8 should be struck down because they don't like it, but they're being deceptive about that. I suppose that's an important piece of the puzzle, too - to gain converts, you gotta be a lying SOB. It did wonders for Obama!

So we should say that we don't like Obama, therefore he shouldn't be president. But we should word it like this:

"The lawsuits allege that, on his face, Barack Obama is an improper candidate for the presidency because, in his very platform, which was "spread the wealth around", his initiative eliminated an existing right only for a targeted minority - the right of the employed to not have their money stolen from them. If permitted to stand, the election of Obama would be the first time a Marxist has successfully been made president to change the US Constitution to take away an existing right only for a particular group - people who work. Such a change would defeat the very purpose of a constitution and fundamentally alter the role of the courts in protecting minority rights. According to the US Constitution, such a serious revision of our Constitution cannot be enacted through a simple majority vote, but must first be approved by two-thirds of the Legislature."

Posted by: John Lewandowski at November 20, 2008 10:39 AM

Ummmm, John.... you already tried that in the election. But guess what? Not enough of you felt that way.

Posted by: Virginia at November 20, 2008 10:40 AM

Ummm, john.... the money isn't "stolen" from them. They are taxed. This country has income tax. Nothing new. This country taxes people proportionally more when they make more. Nothing new. This hardly a Marxism. Obama is not a Marxist. The election is over. Give it up.

Highly likely that you John will be paying LESS tax with Obama than you would with Bush.

Posted by: Virginia K at November 20, 2008 10:46 AM

Oops! I meant McCain. Still get those two mixed up!

Posted by: Virginia K at November 20, 2008 10:47 AM

Psst, Virginia, I'm just pointing out the double-standard that exists between all things liberal and conservative. That's my favorite thing to do.

Note that you said that "not enough of you felt that way" to stop Obama. Well, it's the same exact thing in California. 52% of Americans voted Obama? Well guess what? 52% of Californians voted against calling gay sodomy "marriage". But some 52% majorities are "landslides" while others are "evil attacks on the Constitution". See how that works?

Posted by: John Lewandowski at November 20, 2008 10:48 AM

It seems to me from what hal has written that they are contesting that the revision itself is not constitutional. That it should never have been voted on.

I do appreciate though that this and the whole debate is lost on you though because you beleive that penis-vagina sex is "marriage" and nothing will ever convinvce you otherwise. Doesn't matter.

BTW, I believe the "landslide" refers to electoral college votes. You know, that little thingy in the constitution that determines who the country elects as president.

Uhm, ya' know not all black babies are aborted. Sheesh.

Posted by: Josephine at November 20, 2008 11:43 AM

Would President-elect Obama and his wife truly want for their young daughters to know about their stance on abortion? Had Sasha and Malia been born into a different black family they most likely would have been aborted. Why are they bent on the destruction of their own people? They are pro-death, and we will not progress as a nation until we eradicate this barbaric practice. So, Barack and Michelle wouldn't mind it for Sasha or Malia to become pregnant as a young teen and have an abortion without informing them. I'm not saying they wouldn't mind for their daughter/s to become pregnant at such a young age. I'm saying they wouldn't mind it if they were kept totally in the dark about such a significant life event. Or, is it just easy to talk nonchalantly and theoretically about things that don't touch our lives in a personal way? Abortion is the American Holocaust. Our founding fathers could never in their wildest dreams have imagined that murder would be legalized in their beloved country.

And talk about the double standard, pro-lifers on this board can call liberals and pro-choicers any personal insult they want and it stays up. If one person who isn't a conservative Republican Christian can get banned for making a simple observation.

I would give an example but I'm afraid I just can't sink down to Johns level.

Posted by: Jess at November 20, 2008 12:04 PM

"Other" Virginia maybe what you should be considering why it is that the rate of black abortions is higher? Probably because the rate of young/single/poor pregnant black women is higher. How about improving their situation: increased and timely sex ed, access to affordable contraception, self esteem, education and career counselling, access to prenatal and birth healthcare, and social and economic assistance to mothers in need/ babies at risk. Maybe then these women will have real choice. And might make the choices you would rather they make. Hmmmmmm?????
