UPDATE, 3p: From the Republican National Coalition for Life:
This was a useful exercise. The Republicans who voted against the Pence Amendment are listed below and should be among those targeted for a primary challenge in the 2010 Congressional election cycle.
If these Members represent you, please remember this vote along with others that do not reflect the values expressed in the Republican National Platform.
We appreciate the Democrats who voted for the amendment and hope this vote is an indication of their opposition to the pro-abortion Obama health care plan:

If you live in these districts, your call is apparently worth double.
Jim Sedlak of American Life League's STOPP International announced last night on the StopTheAbortionMandate.com call that a bill to defund Planned Parenthood miraculously made it out of the House Rules Committee yesterday and is scheduled for a vote TODAY.
I don't need to tell you why taxpayers should not subsidize the United States' largest abortion provider with over $300 million annually. Aside from killing hundreds of thousands of babies a year, PP has been caught caught cooking the books, covering up underage rape, and being "excited" at the prospect of accepting donations to kill preborn black babies.
Introduced yesterday by Rep. Mike Pence, the House Republican Conference Chairman (3rd highest GOP leadership position), the same Pence Amendment shocked everyone in 2007 by garnering 198 yes votes (to 231 no votes and 16 not voting). Only 25 swings, and it would have passed.
Last night Sedlak explained the urgency of calling representatives NOW: "If the vote happens tomorrow and there is a significant number voting against PP, it will have a ripple effect on Congress and a ripple effect on the healthcare bill. A strong vote will send a message that we don't want abortion as part of healthcare."
So when you're calling your representatives today to oppose abortion in healthcare, also say you support the Pence Amendment to defund Planned Parenthood as part of the Labor-HHS Appropriations bill for FY2010.
Read ALL's press release here.
Read Pence's op ed in Townhall.com yesterday here.
Either the Pence Amendment caught PP by surprise, or it's trying to ignore it, or it was in on the jig with Rules leadership to pop the amendment without giving proponents time to rally, because there is no call to action against it at PP's action page. Neither did Cecile mention it in her 9a email alert (all about healthcare) or has she Tweeted on it. RHRealityCheck has something up this morning, although the Pence Amendment is 3rd on a list of 3 complaints.
Wow! If the numbers you posted the other day regarding abortion in the healthcare bill are correct we might just have a chance at this! Oh happy day!
Obama would probably just veto though. Maybe that is why PP isn't worried.Posted by: Kristen at July 24, 2009 11:18 AM
What the heck! I just tried calling the switchboard and no one is answering. Lunch time? You would think they would have someone to cover. I let it ring for a really long time.Posted by: Kristen at July 24, 2009 11:23 AM
Kristen, the first time I called I got the message that all circuits were busy, which I took as a hopeful sign. Maybe that was the case when you called? But there should be an answer. Maybe you dialed wrong?Posted by: Jill Stanek at July 24, 2009 11:39 AM
I contacted my representative.Posted by: Lauren at July 24, 2009 11:42 AM
This is about DEFUNDING Planned Parenthood. Americans are strongly opposed to abortion. I can cite many examples. Our tax dollars should not be going to an organization whose real mission is to end children's lives.Posted by: Life4All at July 24, 2009 11:50 AM
Calling the list. Just talked to office of Mike McIntyre (NC). He is in support of the bill!Posted by: Lauren at July 24, 2009 12:01 PM
Jerry Costello is a "yes". Couldn't reach Lipinski because his mailbox is full. Is that a good sign?Posted by: EH at July 24, 2009 12:20 PM
THIS IS AWESOME.
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
"Calling the list. Just talked to office of Mike McIntyre (NC). He is in support of the bill!"
God bless you, Lauren! :)Posted by: Janet at July 24, 2009 12:34 PM

Maybe that was it. I will try again. My Rep. is Judy Biggert though - a pro-choice Republican. I always get the standard - We may not agree on this, but we can both agree... garbage.Posted by: Kristen at July 24, 2009 12:59 PM
My Rep is already pro life... his assistant did tell me that they are receiving about 100 calls per hour! WOWPosted by: angele at July 24, 2009 1:01 PM
I got through! Gave my name and address and he said he would pass the message along. I am going to get everyone I know to call!Posted by: Kristen at July 24, 2009 1:11 PM
The amidment has been defeated. I listened to it on Sea-span.Posted by: RJ Sandefur at July 24, 2009 2:54 PM

Kristen - what about Kirk? He's running for Senate!Posted by: Jill Stanek at July 24, 2009 3:54 PM

Kristen - don't hate her - work like crazy to kick her out of office.Posted by: Chris Arsenault at July 24, 2009 4:19 PM
Apparently not enough Representatives are aware of the statutory rape problems with PPA, or they simply don't care, and believe they can argue the benefits provided by medical services outweigh the abortion stuff, and the statutory rape charges.
There's lots of ammo for the next election. Time to inform the public, and see if there's any kind of moral fiber left.Posted by: Chris Arsenault at July 24, 2009 4:25 PM
Well, I contacted my rep though she's a pro-abort Dem. She authored an act just passed in June to protect young girls from the exploitation of child marriage, so I pointed out the need to protect them here from the statutory rapists PP abets.Posted by: klynn73 at July 24, 2009 4:37 PM
Dang...isn't there a prolife politician in IL???Posted by: RSD at July 24, 2009 4:40 PM
Costello and Lipinski both voted YES and are from IL..
Jill, I really think you should run for public office. That's my opinionPosted by: RJ Sandefur at July 24, 2009 7:41 PM

The last election there was a great guy running. I actually met him at one of the Planned Parenthood protests in Aurora. His name was Sean, good Irish guy. He lost in the primary and we got 2 more years of this horrid woman.
You are right people do not know her record and you can bet I will be volunteering with the opposition in the next round - provided that person is pro-life!Posted by: Kristen at July 25, 2009 11:11 AM

Ugh! I forgot about that! We have got to get some decent people in Illinois. This just makes me want to move because I feel like my vote is wasted.
