Recall the Obama team's philosophy of never letting a crisis go to waste. In this case they're likely exascerbating one.
From the Family Research Council yesterday:
What do sick pigs have to do with widespread, taxpayer-funded abortion? More than you might think. This week, as panic spreads over a potential swine flu pandemic, liberals are already scheming how they can use the health scare to win the confirmation of pro-abortion extremist Gov. Kathleen Sebelius (D-KS) as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
No doubt the empty seat at HHS was keenly felt this weekend, as Janet Napolitano, Secretary of Homeland Security, stepped into the void at HHS and declared the swine flu a "health emergency." Although the Senate leadership will use the urgency of the flu to try to force Sebelius through the chamber, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the government's response to the outbreak "has not been hindered by the lack of a secretary at HHS."...
[Today] the debate over the KS Governor, which is loaded with interesting subplots, begins in earnest....
Although Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) is confident his party can find the 60 votes she needs for confirmation, a lot will hinge on the swing votes Sens. Sam Brownback (R-KS), Pat Roberts (R-KS), Arlen Specter (R-PA), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), and Susan Collins (R-ME), as well as pro-life Democratic Sens. Ben Nelson (D-NE) and Bob Casey (D-PA). With the debate looming, your senators need to hear from you! Please help us by redoubling your efforts over the next 24 hours. Call your senators and remind them that a vote for Kathleen Sebelius is a vote well outside of the American political and policy mainstream
Call Capital switchboard 202-224-3121 I ask to be connected to one each, of the persons, Senator, Representative, Congressman, etc, then when finished with your message and points, ask that one to connect you back to the switchboard for the next . This makes it possible to reach all with one call and one number.
Also, stay tuned [today] as FRC hosts a morning press conference on Capitol Hill with a coalition of pro-life and pro-family leaders along with members of the Senate and House who all oppose Gov. Sebelius's nomination to America's largest government agency....
Satan will try anything........Posted by: heather at April 28, 2009 8:09 AM
U.S. Sen. Richard Burr of North Carolina will oppose Kathleen Sebelius' nomination.
Just read this article.
Problem #1. Mexico has polluted water and sewage. THey are getting cleaner. This number of illnesses is not problematic from a numbers standpoint in any way. HHS will be dealing with this instead of STD's? How ironic for a 1 trick governor that is pro death to not campaign with all he energy to fight against the STD epidemic wich is killing thousands.Posted by: xppc at April 28, 2009 10:27 AM
Thanks for the short list - just made my calls urging all the Senators to vote to confirm Sebelius.Posted by: PC at April 28, 2009 12:07 PM

EDYT!!! I was just thinking about you!
How are ya?? :)
Brownback has turned his brown back on us. As far as I'm concerned, he may as well change parties too, and join the proabort party.Posted by: Doyle at April 28, 2009 6:23 PM
Xppc, Mexico has polluted sewage? Just Mexico? So is it safe to roll around in American sewage?Posted by: Jess at May 2, 2009 5:47 PM
