Poem, "over population"

I received this poem yesterday via email:

the world is overpopulated
sometimes people make mistakes
sometimes people die to make the total population healthier
sometimes when a woman decides that the man she chose was a wrong choice
giving that person a child would be a travesty of life
sometimes those people are children
I wish I had never had one
my daughter has said frequently she wished she were never born
I think to my self "I do too"
she is 22 now and has no future that I can see
at least not in the world after Bush

overpopulation 5.jpgI responded to the writer, whose name I'm omitting for the sake of his/her daughter, that it seemed they were both depressed, and had they sought counseling?

I wrote there are plenty of people who are grateful to be alive despite the fact their mothers didn't like their fathers, even if justified. It's not our call to determine intrinsic human value based on circumstances. Every person born has value endowed by our Creator, not by fellow createds.

And I wrote that placing the blame for a futureless world on President Bush is silly.

I forgot to write that "over population" is a myth.

Comments:

I agree that both the author of this poem and his/her child seem depressed. I think recommending counseling is probably the best response to this sad email.

Overpopulation is NOT a myth. It is entirely possible. The fact is that we just cannot allow population to grow unchecked. It's difficult enough already to provide for the vast numbers of poor people in the world , and so many children are born into abject poverty and malnutrition.
Abortion is certainly not a pleasant or happy thing , it's a necessary evil.

Most of the fear mongering and whining about over population comes from the extreme left. These folks oppose freedom and fear that more people means they will be harder to control. It is a passion for power.
A lot of this came from a man named malthus. It inspired darwin to Hitler in scheming "selection" or elimination of unfavoribles or inferior people.

"""we just cannot allow population to grow unchecked"""

so that is how we got strong state control and genocide.

Why isn't abortion pleasant Robert?
Why isn't it happy?

Am I correct in saying that killing children before they die is the answer in your mind? Killing all starving people would help?

Again, I appreciate that you didn't mention hangers or back alley abortions. :)

Robert, no European country is even reproducing at replacement rate. America is reproducing at exactly replacement rate. The nations that reproduce at a rate higher than replacement rate are often poor countries with high infant mortality rates. Those countries are also subject to governments that steal from the people and prevent them from improving their lives. The population could be cut by 90% and those governments would still impose poverty on their remaining citizens.

Robert - Margaret Sanger would be proud of you.

The Negro Project report stated:

“The mass of significant Negroes, still breed carelessly and disastrously, with the result that the increase among Negroes...is [in] that portion of the population least intelligent and fit.”

While Margaret used black preachers to run interference:

“We do not want word to go out, that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

- Margaret Sanger

So Robert, do you give generously to PP to eliminate those "human weeds?"

After all - abortion is a necessary evil - like a human pesticide.

Children joyfully playing - that's encouraging. But folks like Robert advocating to kill them off - that's depressing.

Christ won Robert - you can stop hiding in the dark.

Jill.... what makes you say that overpopulation is a myth? I mean, I know that it is physically possible for the entire population of the world to fit into the state of Texas, but we have to consider resources and sanitation. We also need room (not to mention land that is arable--not just any old patch of dirt) to grow crops and raise livestock. Sure, there is physical space for more people in the world, but there's limited room.

Robert, if you don't like it on this planet, you are free to leave and find another one! As far as I know, you won't find any other others overpopulated...I don't think you'll find them populated at all which you should find ideal, except for one rather serious drawback; they don't support human life. But then, neither do you, especially...unless it happens to be your own hide?!

Seriously, I've never met a pro-abort/"over"population control freak yet who, finding the planet overcrowded, would leave themself; but they always want to use this lie as an excuse for mass murdering others who don't especially find it so overcrowded, via gas chambers, abortion mills, planned wars, plagues, etc. Yet they talk about prolifers imposing our views on others!!!

BTW, Evil is never necessary; What the world needs now and always is less evil, not more.

Oh, and what's this nonsense about murdering innocent people making the total population healthier? What a crock! Hitler's gas chambers did not eliminate, cure or treat one actual disease, and neither have America's death camps for the preborn. Contrary to anti-life propaganda, death is not healthier than life for any population. Pregnancy is not a disease, and abortion is not health care. A pregnancy terminated the natural way, by giving birth, is much safer for women physically and emotionally than having the child slaughtered in utero.

Medically recognized physical complications of induced abortion include shock, coma, intense pain, trauma, bleeding/hemorrhage, infection, cardiac embolism, cardiac arrest, cardiomyopathy, pulmonary embolism, pulmonary edema, cerebral embolism, permanent brain damage, sterility, uterine tears / perforations, retained fetal tissue, cervical damage, convulsions, endotoxic shock, fever, second degree burns, chronic abdominal pain, nausea/vomiting, gastrointestinal disturbances, Rh sensitization, damage to/loss of other vital, internal organs, pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, peritonitis, septicemia, increased risk of future miscarriage; ectopic pregnancy, placenta previa, infant handicap/premature birth; also cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, liver cancer, and breast cancer. None of these makes a woman healthier, very few of them are medically recognized risks of giving birth, and those are easily dealt with in a life-affirming medical environment. Even Planned Parenthood's own Alan Guttmacher stated about 20 years ago,“TODAY IT IS POSSIBLE FOR ALMOST ANY PATIENT TO BE BROUGHT THROUGH PREGNANCY ALIVE, UNLESS SHE SUFFERS FROM A FATAL DISEASE SUCH AS CANCER OR LEUKEMIA, AND IF SO, ABORTION WOULD BE UNLIKELY TO PROLONG, MUCH LESS SAVE.. THE LIFE OF THE MOTHER.”

No, killing people doesn't make for a healthier population; it does make for a bloodier, guiltier, more violent one.

And, it is quite possible for a woman to give life to the innocent child of a rat bastard without giving the child to the r.b.(nothing personal, Robert!) in question. It happens every day.

Plus cervical mutilation and highly elevated rates of breast cancer. No, they are not concerned about women's health. How often is MRSA passed on at these filthy clinics??

Leah, as you stated, overpopulation is a myth because there is plenty of room for people in the world.

There are also plenty of resources, but as Lauren (9:52a) stated, the reason for poverty and starvation is for the most part due to corrupt governments that steal from their people.

Until ~1800, better-off humans sought solutions to poverty and starvation of fellow humans by giving them shelter and food.

At the turn of the century demographer Thomas Malthus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Malthus) thought of a different solution to poverty and starvation: reduce the number of humans.

This is at its core selfish and lazy, and it certainly hasn't worked.

Now many countries are undergoing underpopulation crises. There aren't enough young people to sustain old people, for one thing. In many countries, there aren't enough women for the number of men (the reason for the human trafficking crisis). It seems to me your solution to these problem would be to off old people and men in countries now out of balance due to population control efforts?

This is what happens when we tamper with nature. Problems unforeseen are worse than problems first encountered that were dealt with in morally wrong ways.

Jill- What you've said is very hard to back up and you've provided no evidence to argue that you are correct. I can't just take your word for it. You don't really have any authority on population stats.

lauren 9:52-

You can't just spout off words and pretend they're facts. Here are a few examples to prove you're wrong COMPLETELY:

France: population growth ~.6%
The Netherlands: population growth ~.3%
Ireland: population growth ~1.1%
Portugal: population growth ~.3%
UK: population growth ~.2%

Those are five random west European countries with growing populations, which discredits your claim that "no" European countries are growing. As for the United States, we're growing at approximately .8%. All these statistics and more can be found on the CIA World Factbook.

That isn't to say that NO European countries are shrinking. Italy and Germany, for example, are. But you can just go throwing pretend facts around.

Posted by: Leah at December 30, 2008 12:53 PM

Whenever I hear a liberal start to preach too many people and not enough resources, i ask which race exactly do we have too many of.
At least Sanger was open about it. Today they are self righteous and wear a mask of tolerance and will not answer directly.

Amazing. Take out the new Muslim immigrants and we have negative growth.

The Amish double every 19 years.

I've no clue why you would assume it's got something to do with race, xppc. You're the one who is bringing up Muslims (by which you imply Arabs).

Posted by: Leah at December 30, 2008 1:25 PM

Oh, and you're wrong, xppc. The birth rate in the States is 14.18 births/1,000 population and the death rate is 8.27 deaths/1,000 population. CHECK YOU FACTS. It's on CIA World Factbook. Tout simple.

Posted by: Leah at December 30, 2008 1:32 PM

Leah, those countries have growing populations due to immigration and population momentum, not the actual birth rates.

The world birth rate is slipping. Here are the birth rates from the countries you listed. Replacement is 2.1

France:1.89
The Netherlands:1.85
Ireland:1.96
Portugal:1.46
UK:1.82

Remember that immigration doesn't create new people and population momentum is speculative. The raw birth rates are below replacement level.

Posted by: lauren at December 30, 2008 1:41 PM

Leah, I've posted this info before but you must have missed it. Go to the CIA World Factbook:

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/rankorder/2127rank.html

Any country with less than a 2.1 fertility rate is underpopulating. Out of 223 countries, 99 are not repopulating at replacement levels. The US is only doing so barely.

Google "population crisis Japan" or "population crisis Europe" or "population crisis China" or "population crisis Russia" or "population crisis Hong Kong" to begin to understand the magnitude of the worldwide underpopulation crisis.

xppc, one wonders, too, what other viruses (such as AIDS) are passed on, especially as these hell holes are notorious for not sterilizing instruments, changing gloves, etc. between killings; always making a buck at the expense of the women's health. At one PP mill, some dumpster diving prolifers recovered a copy of minutes from a staff meeting at which changing gloves between patients was discussed. It was noted in the minutes that it was not necessary to go the extra expense of changing gloves, since, it further noted, the gloves were for the protection of the abortionist, not the quarry - er, client.

It should also be noted that none of the medically recognized risks was eliminated by Roe v. Wade. Only one of them has ever been lessened at all, and that is infection, which has been reduced somewhat by the discovery of antibiotics...not the stroke of some judge's pen.

The credulity required to believe that such an act of judicial fiat can make an inherently dangerous wrong safe or right boggles the mind...reminds me of an old song with some lines in it that read, "the snail it changed into a bird, the bird to butterfly; and he who tells a bigger tale would have to tell a lie..." Abortion made safe by legalization is a whopper of whoppers.

Posted by: jtm at December 30, 2008 1:50 PM

I don't know what you're talking about, jtm. Our very own Truthseeker claims that the AIDS virus is created by two men having homosexual intercourse. Not sterilizing instruments and changing gloves should have nothing to do with the spread of AIDS. Ask truthseeker.

Comparing abortion to Hitler's genocide of the Jews is totally disingenuous.
What you say about European birth rates may be true, but the large numbers of Muslims who have moved there have much higher birthrates, and birthrates elsewhere are very high.
Are you aware that total world population has more than DOUBLED since 1960 ? What lack of population growth ?
Praising the couple who just had their 18th child is sheer folly. This kind of family is not a good model for society, nor a realistic one. It's expensive enough today for couples to have just one or two children.
And when women have abortions it's not "killing children". It's terminating a pregnancy. Children are those who are born.
Life begins at birth.

Robert says "Life begins at birth"

Wrong, A unique, human life begins at amphimixis-The moment of conception.

Robert says "And when women have abortions it's not "killing children". It's terminating a pregnancy. Children are those who are born."

Wrong, "child" is defined as "an unborn infant; a fetus." Killing is defined as "a. To put to death.
b. To deprive of life: The Black Death was a disease that killed millions.
2. To put an end to; extinguish: "

Obviously the statement that "abortion kills a child" is a true statement.

Mr Berger,

You're wearing down the earth. At the very least you could at least confine yourself to walking on the sidewalk.

If you really believe your 'gospel', then practice what you preach, premptively. Submit to castration or at the very least, a vasectomy. I understand PP also provides these male choices free or on a sliding scale.

Jesse Jackson offered his services to the 0'bama for free. Jesse might make you the same deal.

Lead by example. Go dig a hole, jump in it and recycle yourself. It is the only ecologically responsible thing for you to do. In fact you should practice the buddy system. Take one or two your fellow devotees with you.

Just tell us where to send the flowers.

Bilbo,
Get it right. Sperm is not required to transmit HIV; it is a super-accelerant to the`rate at which HIV spreads. And as for the genisis of the disease, it is easier to start a fire when gasoline is present.

Posted by: truthseeker at December 30, 2008 11:48 PM

R.Berger, Comparing abortion and Hitler isn't that disingenuous. What is disingenuous is denying any of the many documented connections and similarities, which greatly outnumber the differences, between the two holocausts. Check out eugenics-watch.com for starters.

Bilbo, you don't know what you're talking about, either. Yes, I am aware that homosexual activity, especially between men, is arguably the leading conduit of HIV, but not all people with AIDS are men, exclusively homosexual, etc. The virus is spread via body fluids, which get on surgical instruments during invasive procedures. Surgical abortion is one of the most invasive forms of murder that there is.

These truths aren't that hard to find to even casual seekers who are honest; where have you and, apparently, truthseeker been for about the last 25 years?!

Posted by: jtm at December 31, 2008 12:05 AM

jtm, did you not read my post. I said sperm is not required for the xmission of HIV, just that it is an accelerant to the rate it spreads at. What about my post makes you think I don't understand the transmission of HIV.

People who complain about overpopulation ought to start with themselves.

That's true. When it comes to their OWN lives, they think life is a wonderful thing, and they want to find love and friendship, smell the flowers, go for long walks on the beach, swim naked in the ocean, look at rainbows -- all that cool stuff -- but when it comes to OTHER people who might come into existence five years from now, then suddenly "there are way too many people in the world." It's like asking someone to hold the elevator door for you, but pressing "door close" on someone else when you decide that NOW the elevator has enough people.

And, Muslim or otherwise, immigration is the main reason the U.S. population is growing. The overpopulation crowd will decry the rise in Americans, and then call you "anti-immigrant" if you point this out (even if you have no problem with people coming here to become Americans).

Robert Berger: "And when women have abortions it's not 'killing children'. It's terminating a pregnancy. Children are those who are born.
Life begins at birth."

Factually false, as John Lewandowski, among others, have demonstrated via scientific fact many times. A human being's life begins at the moment of fertilization, not at "quickening," birth, or the ever-squishy moment of "viability."

Posted by: Bri at December 31, 2008 1:03 PM

The problems we face can be tied not to "overpopulation" but rather to misallocation of resources, waste, and overconsumption. In Pennsylvania, the state population was recently found to have gone down over the period of a few decades...while land use QUADRUPLED. THAT'S the problem. Everyone wants to live in a new development with a cineplex and a CVS at every traffic light. We throw out too much food and we still drive too much. It's not about "too many people."

Posted by: Bri at December 31, 2008 1:06 PM

truthseeker, my apologies. I was responding to Bilbo's post, which apparently misrepresented you on this in an attempt to discredit my own statement about the transmission of HIV via unwashed intruments, unchanged gloves, etc. in abortion mills.

For the record, Bilbo, AIDS and abortion are both pretty common among prostitutes...and no, I'm not saying that everyone who has AIDS or gets abortions is a prostitute. Just that both those things are prevalent in that community.
