We cannot support any health care reform proposal unless it explicitly excludes abortion from the scope of any government-defined or subsidized health insurance plan.

~ A group of 19 pro-life Democrats in the House of Representatives have joined together to craft a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The letter contained a non-perfunctory request that the House not advance any health care bill that doesn't specifically prohibit abortion coverage or funding, as quoted by LifeNews, June 26

Comments:

And what, my friends, are the chances of THAT happening given that Ms. Pelosi wants to "reduce cost"?

I'm so proud of these men and (or) women for doing what's right. They're very good souls. I can't wait for the entire Democratic Party to adopt this stance on infanticide.

Are there really 19 pro-life Democrats? :)

Janet...is there really such a thing as a Pro-Life Democrat?

At this point, I'm getting to where I'd believe up was down and down was up. The repubs have been infiltrated lately seemingly en masse by pro-choice "republicans", and if it gets much worse, I'm leaving for good.

xalisae,

".....and if it gets much worse, I'm leaving for good."

You mean the Republican party?

Maybe we should start a new party called the "New Pro-life Conservatives". It looks like we might have 19 Democrats willing to join, at-least for their pro-life stand. Who knows how many Republicans..

"You mean the Republican party?"

Yes, Janet. I'm a registered Republican.

Weird, huh? :P

x,

"Yes, Janet. I'm a registered Republican."
"Weird, huh? :P"

I don't think that would have been my first guess. :) Nevertheless, I feel your pain.

Well, a lot of other people think that, too. It's frustrating when people take a look at me and start discussing their (liberal) view of politics expecting me to give the thumbs up and a smile.

I believe that foreign terrorism and Islamic extremism is one of the greatest dangers America faces.

I believe that at present, THE greatest danger America faces is the governing body that is nothing short of a radical socialist coup a la ACORN. They seem to be actively trying to destroy at the very least America's capitalist economic system.

I believe it is not the government's job to provide for its disadvantaged citizenry, but private citizens and non profit organizations. GIVING should be encouraged by the government and society as a whole. The government should not TAKE to GIVE itself.

I do believe that the government needs to stay out of the lives of its citizens as much as possible. The 2nd amendment helps to ensure this will be the case.

I know I don't seem like it sometimes, but I am a very conservative individual. I just think that people should take charge of their own lives a little better, and leave as little of it as possible to legislation. Abortion is a failing of the citizens to protect the lives of other citizens, and the government must intervene, as sad as it is.
