The National Education Association, the nation's largest labor union, voted July 5 to reject a proposal officially to remain neutral on the issues of abortion and family planning.

Also during its annual meeting in San Diego July 1-6, the NEA went on record as supporting laws legalizing civil unions and "gay marriage" -- it said either are acceptable -- and it backed efforts to repeal federal legislation that "discriminates" against same-sex couples, which presumably could target the Defense of Marriage Amendment.

Comments:

talk about shooting yourself in the foot!
Supporting abortion and family planning, aka contraception, means killing off future children who are NEA clients!
Stupid is as stupid does.

The NEA has long been more about political depravity than it has been about supporting teachers in their efforts to train future generations. Most of the teachers I know completely disagree with the organization's ultra-liberal agenda, but their required union dues still go to the group. Very sad.

The NEA does not represent the majority of good teachers in this country. (Kind of sounds like Congress, doesn't it?)

I couldnt (sorry my apostrophe does not work) agree more! As the wife of a teacher I can tell you my husband is appalled at what the NEA does and says.

PS I love the comment section for QOTD!
