He's a pro-life liberal who was seduced by the idea of providing health care and insurance to the sick and the poor.
While his pro-life convictions run pretty deep, deeper than a lot of politicians, he ultimately became pragmatic. He said, "You're never gonna get [his ammendment language] through the Senate."
So he compromised. He wanted health care benefits for his poor constituents and he paid for them with the blood of innocent children.
I wonder if he realizes now that he blew it.

Ultimately, he turned out to be Pro-Life up to the point where his pro-life convictions interfered with his liberal agenda and $700K in grant money.
Posted by: Ed at March 22, 2010 1:02 PMI have a small comment about Stupak. All I can say about that is that he was bamboozooled willingly. He took a promise from a guy that lies about EVERYTHING. It was so sad to watch.
I do want to say that Mike Pence is awesome. I live in Indiana, and I have heard him speak and analyzed. He is great. He has morals, integrity, persistence, and a heart for service. He works long and hard for his employers (the people of Indiana). I would totally support him if he went further is His career. I do not say that lightly. My state has some pretty sad reps.
