Gosnell and Castro cases expose inconsistency on right to life

gosnellcastroIn the state of Ohio, fetal homicide is against the law, and “[a]ll of Ohio’s homicide and assault statutes prohibit actions which kill or injure another person’s unborn child at any stage of pregnancy,” which is what Ariel Castro did not once, but five times. Therefore, after the women’s rescue and Castro’s arrest, babies who would otherwise be viewed as non-viable entities, legal to dispose of under the law, are now positioned to become the driving force behind a possible death sentence for Ariel Castro for “aggravated murder.”

  • Why is it that people who know next to nothing about the Gosnell case seem to think their incredibly ignorant opinions are worthy putting into print? Forbes embarrasses itself by publishing a commentary by Amesh Adalja, who seems to think that if Pennsylvania’s unenforced abortion restrictions were removed, someone like Gosnell would “instantly evaporate.” Adalja clearly hasn’t read the Gosnell Grand Jury report and likely has no clue that Gosnell’s clinic wasn’t inspected for 17 years:

I believe it is no coincidence that Pennsylvania, a state with some of the most restrictive abortion laws in the nation (and hence the potential for a lucrative black market), was where an individual like Kermit Gosnell decided to operate his alleged infanticide operation.

Advocates of freedom in medicine would do well to include all aspects of medical care, irrespective of faith-based opposition, in the quest to allow for capitalism’s return to healthcare. Not only will the removal of such restrictions enhance liberty, but also instantly evaporate any nascent back-alley black markets.

St. Patrick, Obama, and the Dubliner

The Dubliner, in Washington, DC, is the beloved Irish pub where pro-lifers congregate to inspire, conspire, and console before and after the March for Life each January as well as other meeting times throughout the year.

It is fitting, since Ireland is abortion free.

Last year President Obama violated our sacred space on St. Patrick’s Day.

  • Abstinence Clearinghouse happily reports that the controversial Oxygen show, “All My Babies’ Mamas”, is being cancelled before its debut and is no longer in development. The show would have showcased rapper Shawty Lo’s relationships, which resulted in 11 children with 10 different women. Many pro-family groups – including several in the African American community – expressed disgust with the concept of the show. Star Parker remarked:

The destruction of the black family in only 40 years is not normal and it should not treated as entertainment for vulnerable children and young women. The consequences of living without responsibility perpetuates poverty and it’s cruel.

  • Parenting Freedom highlights a study which suggests bearing more children increases a woman’s lifespan:

Compared with women who had no children, those with two had a 17 percent decreased risk of death. For women with three children there was a 20 percent decreased risk, and this pattern largely continued with additional children.

Canadian MP: If we declared fetuses “human beings,” abortion would be homicide

If the legal definition of when one becomes a human being were to be adjusted so that a fetus is declared to be a legal person at some earlier stage of gestation, then the homicide laws would apply. As a necessary consequence, aborting fetal development anywhere in the potentially new adjusted period would be considered […]

by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat Joe Carter asks abortion moderates what the relative value of the unborn is: Is the relative value of abortion worth the equivalent cost in lives lost to homicides? If not, then what equivalent number would be acceptable? What is the relative value of a fetus? That is a […]

Questioning personhood to justify homicide

… It is so clear that someone only questions the personhood of a human she wishes to harm. It’s not a logical debate, it’s a way to justify homicide. ~Commenter Lauren, Stanek post “Human life begins with personhood,” May 30 [Photo of 8 week fetus by Lennart Nilsson, 1965]
