Pro-life blog buzz 6-26-15

pro-lifeby Susie Allen, host of the blog, Pro-Life in TN, and Kelli

A parting note from Susie:

I have co-authored the Blog Buzz (formerly called Proliferations) for five years. Time flies when you are having fun. I can think of no better movement to dedicate your life to than protecting the sanctity of all human life. Congratulations to Jill as she starts on a new venture in a new season of her life. I have learned so much from contributing to this blog and hope the readers will look for ways they too can take a stand for life in their own sphere of influence. As Jill did not seek the spotlight years ago, she did not shrink from the cause when it came to her. Look what she has done! We all have a sphere of influence and a talent. How exciting to see what we can do when we use our God-given talents. You may surprise yourself. Join the cause and press on.

For Life,

Pro-life vid of the day: One word – “Abortion”

Abortion-1by Kelli

A parting note from Kelli:

Fifteen years ago, I heard Jill Stanek, who was still relatively unknown at the time, tell her story about her experiences at Christ Hospital. At the time, I was operating a pregnancy resource center. I never imagined that one day, years later, I’d stumble upon her blog, become a regular reader and commenter, and then one day become the administrative assistant and editor of her blog.

It’s been a privilege and an honor to work here for six years, getting to know so many dedicated readers and volunteers who give of themselves to help advance the pro-life message. This blog wouldn’t be what it was and is without ALL of you, so thank you! And thank you most of all to Jill for giving me this opportunity and for believing that I could learn what I needed to know to do my job effectively, even when I didn’t believe it myself. :)

Love to all of you.

Thanks for the (blog) memories

“Who’s Jill Stanek?” Carder and Jill

That’s the question I asked myself one day as I surfed the web for pro-life news and the name Jill Stanek kept popping up. Fascinated by the rowdy debates, I knew I had found my pro-life online hangout.

This was back in 2007. Thanks to Jill, I learned about Obama before Obama became Dear Leader Obama. The connections I’ve made with committed pro-lifers, and for that matter, committed pro-choicers, remain a great memory.

Like the night MK, Carla, Hal, Jasper, Doug, and a few others had an all night thread/party that ended the following morning, with pictures of mayhem and ridiculousness rounding out an incredible bonding experience for all involved. Hal just couldn’t stop chugging those mojitos…

Bristol Palin announces pregnancy

by Carder I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you. But please respect Tripp’s and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy. My little family always has, and always […]

Abortion pushers on clinic violence: “Destroying persons” wrong

by Kelli As Cahill stated in her victim impact statement, “Destroying persons, places, property because of a difference in belief is called TERRORISM… Zachary [Klundt] systematically destroyed my property, my profession, my plans for the future and, I feel quite sure he would have destroyed me if I had happened to show up at my […]

Fiorina ready to take on the Left over abortion

by Carder I am pro-life by virtue of faith and experience and now science. And I am tired of being scared away from this topic by leftist women. And I think they try to scare us away from this topic… it’s hard to argue that abortion for any reason at all after five months is […]

My new role at Susan B. Anthony List

SBA-20_logoDear faithful readers of JillStanek.com:

First, the exciting news: I am honored to have accepted a position at Susan B. Anthony List as its National Campaign Chair! Read more at WorldNetDaily.com. Also read SBA’s press release and a a blurb in Politico’s Pulse.

I have been a long-time admirer of Marjorie Dannenfelser and the SBA List team, many of whom are friends. I partnered with the group during the 2012 election cycle for a bus tour exposing Barack Obama’s abortion/infanticide extremism.

This is a new position, for which I will travel the country on behalf of SBA List, speaking to pro-life activists, donors, and voters to promote SBA List’s aggressive campaign strategy to elect a pro-life president in 2016 and advance the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

by Kelli Abstinence Clearinghouse points out how the Boston Globe surprisingly admits that part of the nation’s abortion decline is likely due to “an ‘empathy-driven reaction’ for all of the Americans that grew up in a world of vivid ultrasound images and miraculous neonatal medicine for preemies.” At Live Action News, Susan Michelle promotes the […]

Taylor Swift helps fans announce pregnancy

by Kelli Most everyone we told before we posted on social media found out by us showing them our Taylor Swift picture. It was fun because the reactions were all pretty similar. Seinfeld on new fatherhood initiative: “Being there” matters

by Carder It’s such a gigantic piece of life for the man, and even more so for the child, because the lack of a father in the child’s life is a very big factor in perpetuating the poverty cycle…. Fathers always think, ‘Well I have to know a lot,’ and what they have to know […]

  • Wesley J. Smith says the French are trying to bring euthanasia in gradually, by first offering to sedate terminally ill patients until death. Smith discusses the difference between palliative and terminal sedation, and explains why terminal sedation is not so humane:

That’s killing by slow motion because it involves putting a patient into a coma and depriving them of food and fluids so they dehydrate to death. Pushing terminal sedation is egregious for another reason: It confuses people as to whether the legitimate pain controlling technique – palliative sedation – is killing by another name.

Mouse dung once part of an ancient abortion suppository

by Carder The famous Greek doctor Hippocrates, or texts attributed to him, recorded a lot of abortifacients — and, interestingly, his books also reveal that the Greeks had figured out the connection between copper and contraception that we still use today in copper IUDs. But one recipe stands out: It calls for mouse dung, honey, […]

Limbaugh: Republicans aren’t the ones pushing abortion issue

orwellian-ideasby Kelli

The problem that I have with this is it’s not the Republicans that are pushing social issues. The Republicans are defending them, for crying out loud! The left is who’s pushing social issues, and nobody ever complains about ‘em doing so. The Democrat Party is the biggest purveyor of social issues. The Democrat Party is the biggest promoter of social issues. The Democrat Party’s agenda demands movement on social issues! This idea that the Republicans are pushing social issues is absurd.

Pro-abort blackmail: Give me $1 million or I’m having an abortion

by Carder I am a twenty-six-year-old female and I am currently 7 weeks pregnant. I have every intention of having an abortion, but I’m giving you a chance to stop it…. On July 7th I will start accepting donations on this page. I will accept donations for 72 hours, the same amount of time this […]

Is societal stigma contributing to the abortion decline?

by Kelli [Pro-abortion activist Steph] Herold suggests that instead of focusing on the lowered abortion rate, we should be asking “how do people’s perceptions of their community’s social norms around pregnancy impact what they think they should do about an unintended pregnancy?” Herold knows that the greatest threat to abortion is not public policy mandating […]

Why former PP director no longer agrees with the rape exceptions

by Carder I said to myself… okay, then let’s go after the exceptions in the Hyde Amendment. I went to the Hill and made some appointments with several pro-life legislators. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM told me that they would NEVER try to repeal the exceptions in the Hyde Amendment. One of them actually told […]

Obama loves nun who helped with passage of Obamacare

by Carder Well, I don’t know whether this is appropriate, but I just told Sister Carol I love her. On a big stage. It is true, though, I do. She is just wonderful. Shock: NARAL sends email claiming “babies” in utero feel pain

by Kelli The email was signed by a NARAL supporter, Dana Weinstein, asking for donations to NARAL to fight HR 36, the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which would ban abortions after 20 weeks (5 months). She writes, “When I was more than 20 weeks pregnant, my doctor discovered our baby had horrifying severe […]

Man’s blood saves more than two million babies

by Carder Never once have I watched the needle go in my arm. I can’t stand the sight of blood, and I can’t stand pain… A number of mothers have come up to me and said, “Thank you very much for what you’ve done, because I now I have one, two, three healthy children.” ~ […]

“Abortion tutorial” videos popping up in Chile

by Carder Abortion may be entirely illegal in Chile, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways. Shocking mock, do-it-yourself abortion guides have popped up on YouTube as part of a disturbing public ad campaign in support of legalizing abortion in the predominantly Roman Catholic country in cases of rape or medical complications. In the “abortion […]

NARAL president was afraid to tell people she was pregnant

by Kelli I admit, I had trepidation about telling people…. Is it going to change the way they look at me? Are they going to treat me differently?… There is this whole mentality that anyone who fights for the rights that we fight for must hate children and not want to parent. So to have […]

Pro-life “Dad’s Princess” billboards called “weird” and racist

Anti-abortion billboards targeting predominantly African American communities in Atlanta have many questioning the motivations of Prolife Across America, the organization that erected them…. The same signs have been placed in Memphis and African American residents are criticizing them for their […]

Stanek weekend Q: How to respond to assertion abortion isn’t in the Bible?

Pray-In

Rev. Harry Knox, CEO of The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, recently posted an op ed at Talking Points Memo, using the Bible to support abortion as an act of compassion.

Ironically, the photo accompanying his piece included me, from a day earlier this year when pro-life activists conducted a prayerful sit-in at Speaker Boehner’s office, which resulted in arrest.

From Knox’s piece:

  • At A Drop in the Ocean, Laura slams California’s attack on pregnancy resource centers by comparing the bill – which would force pregnancy resource centers to tell women where to get abortions – to forcing a Jewish deli to tell customers where to buy pork:

Hello, and welcome to Shamash’s! Before you sit down to eat, we want you to know that New York has public programs that provide immediate free or low-cost access to comprehensive pork dishes (including all FDA-approved methods of smoked ham), pulled pork, and pork sausage, for eligible people. Pro-life group targets late-term abortionist’s enablers in public awareness campaign

Backdrop, from Created Equal:download

A group of physicians at Wright State University is enabling infamous late-term abortionist and partial-birth abortion pioneer Martin Haskell [pictured right] to keep his abortion facility in Dayton, Ohio open and running.

Ohio law requires all ambulatory surgical facilities to have a written transfer agreement with a nearby hospital. Dayton hospitals refuse to give Haskell such an agreement. However, Haskell has found a way to skirt this law through a contract with the Wright State Physicians Women’s Health Care group.

Thus, Created Equal has launched a public awareness campaign to expose the physicians who are enabling Haskell to stay in business.

The European birth collapse

by Carder In the past, those of us who’ve spoken about the collapsing Euro birth rates have been dismissed as religious fanatics or other stuff that I can’t share in a family blog. Yet this is not about religion. It’s about reality. You cannot have a future without babies. In other words, at some point […]

Wisconsin bill would allow fathers to sue late-term abortionists

by Kelli Wisconsin Assembly Bill 237 would ban abortions after 20 weeks “postfertilization,” which doctors would measure as 22 weeks of pregnancy since pregnancies are usually measured from the woman’s last menstrual period. If the bill becomes law, doctors who perform an abortion after this time could be charged with a felony and fined up […]

  • At Live Action News, Sarah Terzo refutes the outrageous claims of pro-abortion Methodist minister John M. Swomley, who argues that preborn children are not innocent (due to original sin) and therefore cannot be considered harmless if their existence produces a threat to their mothers. As outrageous as these arguments are, it is even sadder to hear them coming from purported representatives of the Gospel. Terzo rightly points out:

Swomley’s argument would also justify infanticide. A baby outside the womb would still be considered to have “Original Sin” until baptism, in many faith traditions. Therefore, prior to the moment when the priest or pastor pours water on the child’s forehead (or baptizes him some other way) it would be permissible to kill the child.

  • Canadian abortionist Wee Lim Sim has agreed to stop practicing after his “cluttered and unhygienic” clinic endangered patients:

He agreed to resign from the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons, and never re-apply, after admitting to professional misconduct. The committee went on to “roundly condemn” his ineffective infection control, improper delegation to his staff, poor record keeping, and rude, aggressive style of communication. Sim’s only response to the reprimand was “Thank you sir.” Outside the hearing room, however, he was flippant and dismissive of the misconduct to which he had just admitted.

Here’s more background and a picture of Sim in his obviously cluttered clinic.

Bruce Jenner wanted ex-wife to abort daughter

Yet another catholic charity working with a pro-abortion organization

by Carder This is a very serious problem. Jesus replied, “The most important commandment is this: ‘Listen, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only Lord. • Over at National Review, Dr. Michael New explains why it is too early for social liberals to be doing a victory dance over a new Gallup poll showing those reporting to be  liberal equal to social conservatives:

Last year, social conservatives outpolled social liberals by a 34-30 margin. This year, it was a 31-31 split. This represents a relatively small change that could have been caused by a slight bias in the sample.

While the effects of an onslaught of  positive media attention to same sex marriage, seems to have successful in moving  public opinion to  the liberal category, that does not appear to be the case  with the life issues.

Opposition to abortion and pornography has held relatively constant, and a smaller percentage of Americans now find physician-assisted suicide morally acceptable.

Irish voted for gay marriage… legal abortion next?

So where to next for Ireland? The progressive elite already have their next target in sight – the repeal of the eighth amendment to the Constitution, which guarantees the right to life of the unborn. While the effectiveness of this amendment is compromised due to the 1992 Supreme Court decision in the “X case,” it is […]

Pro-choicer on CA law: Don’t make pregnancy centers refer for abortion

by Kelli To be clear, some crisis pregnancy centers can be shady. They have been known to misleadingly portray themselves as full-service women’s health clinics, or to obscure religious affiliations. They may offer discredited info on things like “the link between abortion and depression,” or engage in what some describe as bullying or pressuring women […]

  • Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life says the MN Senate has rejected a proposed law to require abortion facilities to be licensed and inspected. The safety of women clearly isn’t as important as that of dogs and cats:

“Abortion centers perform invasive, outpatient surgery,” said MCCL Legislative Director Andrea Rau. “It makes no sense that these surgical centers should be excluded from the health and safety standards that apply to other outpatient surgical centers. This bill is necessary for us to ensure that the very unsafe conditions uncovered in other states never happen in Minnesota….

The state licenses tattoo parlors, cosmetology salons and even dog and cat breeders — but not abortion facilities,” Rau added. “It is time for this special exemption for abortion to end so that the state can ensure a degree of basic safety for women.”

  • Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life (MCCL) calls out the World Health Organization for falsely associating high maternal mortality rates to legal restrictions on abortion:

… WHO states in its report that “treaty monitoring bodies have … linked elevated rates of maternal mortality to … restrictive abortion laws [and] unsafe or illegal abortion.” But WHO cites only old, and flawed, country reviews. The truth is that maternal mortality depends on the quality of maternal health care, not the legal status of abortion. Some countries prohibit abortion and have very low MMRs; others permit abortion and have very high MMRs. Legalizing abortion is demonstrably unnecessary to improve maternal health and save women’s lives.

The future of artificial wombs

by Carder While it may be worth thinking about the impact artificial wombs could have on our society one day, urgent discussion of this alternate future is premature. Pro-choicers only ones seeking to silence male voices on abortion

by Kelli I think there absolutely is a role for men in the abortion debate, and that that role is in supporting women’s freedom to choose….
