Is Rep. Renee Ellmers a pro-choice mole?

It’s never easy for pro-lifers, but it’s particularly frustrating when one of our own plays into the enemy’s hands.

Or maybe supposedly pro-life Republican Congresswoman Renee Ellmers has become a pro-choice mole.

Whatever, from Politico this afternoon comes this disheartening news:

Pro-life news brief 8-8-13

  • Salon has a piece by Katie McDonough in which fetal pain is called “a lie.” McDonough’s cited source for this conclusion is one review of studies by abortion advocates and late-term abortionist Anne Davis, who is also the consulting medical director at Physicians for Reproductive Health. Davis claims children (born or unborn) can’t feel pain until 26 weeks. The following might be one reason Davis is so opposed to fetal pain legislation:

“Patients are now asking me about fetal pain. This was not happening 15 years ago,” Davis says. “When you’re sitting in your office with a woman who is 22 weeks into a pregnancy with a severe fetal anomaly — she’s depressed, she’s stressed and now she’s worried, ‘Is my baby going to feel pain?’ It’s just another thing these women have to struggle with. And why? These are created concerns. They are not based in science, they are based in politics.”

BREAKING: Bombshells in Parenthood Gulf Coast’s $4.3m fraud settlement

breakingnews2The good people at Alliance Defending Freedom have forwarded me the settlement agreement between Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast and the United States of America, the Texas Attorney General, and whistleblower Karen Reynolds, for charges that PPGC committed Medicaid fraud between 2003-2009. The settlement was signed by all parties on July 24 and 25.

As I wrote yesterday, PPGC has agreed to pay $4.3 million. According to the settlement, the money will be divied three ways:

TODAY: Religious Freedom Action Day

religious-freedomV2As you know, President Obama is trying to crush our religious freedom by forcing religious employers to provide contraceptives, abortion drugs, and sterilization coverage in their insurance plans.

To that end, several pro-life/pro-family organizations have banded together to synchronize an email/Facebook/Twitter/blog alert to their people, asking them to contact their members of Congress during a two hour window this morning: from 10a to 12p EST, and to tweet during those same hours.

The message to Congress is to support H.R. 940, the Health Care Conscience Rights Act. As Eric Scheidler of Pro-Life Action League explained to his email list this morning:

  • Pro-Life in TN wonders why the courts are allowing cases of pro-choice violence – like that of abortionist Gary Boyle, who was arrested in 2010 for brandishing a loaded gun at peaceful prayer vigil participants – to lie dormant for months or even years. Maybe the Justice Department is just too busy going after the leaflet-distributing sidewalk counselors.

Obama DOJ drops one FACE lawsuit, doubles down on another

I’ve been following two (of eight) Freedom of Access to Clinics Act cases brought by Obama’s Department of Justice against pro-life activists.

There is good news to report on one and bad on another.

District court judges in both lawsuits had ruled against the DOJ, and the ball was in the DOJ’s court.

Life Links 1-27-12

by JivinJ, host of the blog, JivinJehoshaphat A district judge has denied a Justice Department attempt to stop Colorado-based sidewalk counselor Kenneth Scott from talking to drivers as they enter Denver’s Planned Parenthood. Overheard: Students for Life of America’s Kristan Hawkins in an interview at National Review Online: You know, I saw two bumper stickers […]

Court dismisses FACE case, suspects DOJ of set-up

Quick backdrop from Our Sunday Visitor: Passed in 1994 as a way to limit violence outside abortion clinics, the FACE [Freedom of Access to Clinics] Act has been used with greater frequency in recent years. Since the start of President Barack Obama’s administration in 2009, the Justice Department has filed eight cases under the FACE […]
