Pro-life blog buzz 1-23-15

pro-lifeby Kelli

  • Big Blue Wave points out the reluctance of those on the pro-abortion side of the aisle to state whether or not the human fetus at 20 weeks is, in fact, a human being. First, Nancy Pelosi dodged the question, and then Democrat Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland (where late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart kills viable children for a living), claimed that whether or not a 20-week preborn child is human “is not a real issue.”
  • At the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform, Justina Van Maren gives excellent tips on how to debate the “what about rape?” question when talking to people on the street.
  • After Abortion says while the CDC currently acknowledges 12 legal abortion deaths from 2008, “such reporting isn’t always recording what is truly attributable to abortion. Not by a long shot.”

  • At Bound4Life, Josh Shepherd reports on 30 things pro-lifers prayed for at OneVoiceDC, an ecumenical prayer gathering that took place the night before the March for Life.
  • Clinic Quotes shares the testimony of Carole Novielli, who describes the day she saw abortion firsthand, discarded illegally in a dumpster behind an abortion clinic, along with the records of the abortion patients.
  • Down on the Pharm says the UK National Health Service has officially fitted at least 3 10-year-old girls with contraceptive implants:

[T]he long term, progestin only class of BC is strongly associated with osteoporosis. Giving this drug to girls while their bones are still growing is therefore not a good idea.

… Progestin only birth control is also associated with increases in susceptibility to STDs. Etonongestrel is the active metabolite of desogestrel, which gained fame from thrombotic events in so many patients, and the ensuing class action law suits.

  • American Life League’s Judie Brown says that for all the talk of “human dignity” in various “death with dignity” circles, it is certainly lacking in our society’s laws surrounding human life from conception to natural death:

[H]ow did we get to a point where international surrogacy and the buying and selling of babies is even a question? Well, human dignity in the era of reproductive technology has disappeared. Today the laboratory is used for mixing babies in petri dishes because would-be parents of any variety are willing to pay big bucks for the resulting child. Of course, first they want certain quality control standards to be applied before they pay for the product. If the buyers reject the chosen item, it’s curtains for you, baby!

Sadly, the old-fashioned way of procreating children involving conjugal relations in marriage has become passé for far too many in this age of turning preborn children into marketable commodities.

This dehumanization of persons robs each one of them of their dignity at the moment human cells, genes, and chromosomes become nothing more than tools in the scientist’s bag of tricks.

House Democrats refuse to let pregnant double-amputee congresswoman vote from home

XXX DNC-HDB1504.JPG A USA NCHT to The Daily Caller for my title. From that piece:

House Democrats are refusing to allow Rep. Tammy Duckworth, a double-amputee veteran, to cast her vote for party leadership from her home in Illinois where she is pregnant and unable to travel.

Duckworth, who lost both legs when her helicopter was shot down in the Iraq War in 2004, sent a letter to Democratic House leadership requesting to cast her vote by proxy, National Journal reports.

“As you are aware, I am in the final weeks of my pregnancy, and have been instructed by my physician not to travel,” Duckworth wrote. “As a result, I will not be attending the upcoming Caucus meetings in person.”

“I would like to require a proxy vote on the upcoming leadership and ranking member elections that will come before the Caucus in the coming weeks.”

House Democrats’ policy requires members to vote for party leadership in person.

The letter was read during a closed-door meeting on Thursday, but senior party leaders, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Democratic Steering Committee co-chair Rosa DeLauro, from Connecticut, moved to block the request.Rosa_DeLauro_109th_pictorial_photo

DeLauro is a member of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus. Not very pro-choice of her.

And speaking of DeLauro (pictured right), as @KateNocera noted on Twitter in light of the above, “well this is super awkward”…

Pro-choice rhetoric “fogbound cloud of unknowingy stuff”

inthewombdvdby Kelli

I’m told that Christians hate science and go for mystical mumbo jumbo.

But when the topic turns to abortion, it’s fascinating that prochoice rhetoric instantly turns to blather about the “mystery” of when human life begins and what human life is: all that stuff that is just so far above Obama’s pay grade that he has no idea what to say, all that stuff about “ensoulment” that so preoccupies and befuddles Nancy Pelosi. It’s all such misty and mysterious and fogbound and Cloud of Unknowingy stuff!

Meanwhile, Christians are going, “Yo! 46 Chromosomes! It’s human. Conception is when the organism began. Here: watch this National Geographic documentary if you have any questions.”

Pro-abortion Pelosi invokes Baby Jesus for illegal immigrants

by Carder

Those who have read “The Word,” know that Jesus was not a refugee, never did anything illegal, and, more importantly, is God. Mary, an unwed teenager (whom Pelosi most likely would have encouraged to abort Baby Jesus) was returning to Bethlehem with her betrothed Joseph for a census. There was no violence; just no room in the inn.

Moses was one of few boys who lived when the King of Egypt ordered all newborn boys be killed to reduce the Hebrew population.

In fact, both Baby Jesus and Moses would not exist in America today if the infanticide policies Pelosi and President Obama support were legal. There would be no need to support the illegal trafficking of children (which had been well orchestrated many months prior) because these children could be killed instead.

If Pelosi truly cares about these children, she can provide them with housing on any of her many properties and pay for their basic needs out of her own pocket of over $30 million.

Nancy Pelosi: “Don’t mess with the children”

by Carder

PelosiAs you probably know by now, that when it comes to the children from my standpoint, I’m like a lioness….

Just don’t mess with the children, okay?

Whoops! Planned Parenthood shows photo of abortion victim on Facebook

File this one in Planned Parenthood’s “whoopsie” folder to be sure.

Nevertheless, up on Planned Parenthood Advocates of Ohio’s Facebook page at the moment is a photo of an abortion victim, along with half an “ABORTION IS MURDER” sign. Note the “like’s” are all by pro-lifers. Click to enlarge…

Planned Parenthood Women Succeed Bus Tour with photo of abortion victim

The event being promoted by Planned Parenthood was a Columbus, Ohio, stop this morning of the “When Women Succeed, America Succeeds” bus tour, featuring pro-abortion Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Obviously there to greet Pelosi were pro-life activists, including Created Equal, which noted on Facebook, “How can women succeed so long as we kill them in the womb?”

Here’s a photo of the larger scene, posted by Created Equal. Click to enlarge…

"When Women Succeed, America Succeeds" bus tour, featuring graphic abortion image

I’m betting the photo will be down shortly. But pro-life activists should save a screen shot for the next time Facebook censors them for showing the reality of abortion.

UPDATE 6/3 6:40a: PPAO has defiantly left the photo up, choosing instead to delete pro-life comments. Meanwhile, far more people have “liked” this post than any of PPAO’s others this year.

  • Clinic Quotes shares something that might make your blood boil:

In one year alone, the Los Angeles Planned Parenthood clergy consultation service received $250,000 in kickbacks from clinics to which they referred women for abortions.

Planned Parenthood and their current Clergy Advisory Board has celebrated the 40th anniversary of the CCS and states that they are proud to continue defending abortion in the spirit of the CCS.

  • At Catholic Vote, Michael New says the real controversy at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) wasn’t about the decision to exclude the American Atheists from displaying a booth – it was the lack of representation of certain social issues that have always been considered conservative:

This year’s CPAC includes more than 20 panels on a range of interesting topics including the IRS, gun rights, and Obamacare. However, during the three day conference there are no panels specifically dealing with the sanctity of life, traditional marriage, or religious liberty issues.

  • Americans United for Life encourages Governor Ray Tomblin of West Virginia to sign a late-term abortion ban which was passed by the Democratically-led state House and Senate:

A woman seeking an abortion at 20 weeks (5 months) is 35 times more likely to die from abortion than she was in the first trimester. At 21 weeks or more, she is 91 times more likely to die from an abortion than she was in the first trimester.

  • At Coming Home, Dr. Gerard Nadal has a strong statement about Planned Parenthood’s intention to bestow their Margaret Sanger Award upon Nancy Pelosi (pictured left with HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards, and sex therapist Ruth Westheimer).

Pelosi presents herself as an ardent, practicing Catholic while at the same time wholeheartedly supporting abortion on demand. Nadal wonders how the bishops will respond:

We are beyond conversation about reception of the Eucharist at this point. The question is why we cannot acknowledge that legislators who vote specifically for abortion funding (not general budgets containing abortion funding) but specific legislation for protecting, funding, and facilitating abortion are formal cooperators in abortion, and as such have already incurred automatic (latae sententiae) excommunication as such? On the consequences of this there can be no more doubt or debate. None of the Catholics in the party of death have defended the Church against the Obama administration’s war on religion. They are all in, all the way.

We have nothing to lose that we have not already lost, or will lose soon enough. That said, what is most frightfully at stake is the very moral authority of the bishops themselves. Planned Parenthood and the pro-abortion Catholic legislators are celebrating a lifetime of malignant success in the middle of Lent. The time has come for the bishops to recognize that milestone with a pronouncement of their own, one that is long overdue.

  • Down on the Pharm may have coined a new term: fetophobia – the irrational fear of biological human development. Perhaps this was the reason that pro-life high school students were prevented from displaying accurate fetal models during lunch break at their school.
  • Abolish Human Abortion responds to the assertion that their drop cards, which are designed for public distribution, are “hate mail”:

So, are you more angry with finding the card or the fact that what it depicts is legally protected and nearly universally ignored by good people like yourself? I am more angry at the latter.
