Limbaugh: Republicans aren’t the ones pushing abortion issue

orwellian-ideasby Kelli

The problem that I have with this is it’s not the Republicans that are pushing social issues. The Republicans are defending them, for crying out loud! The left is who’s pushing social issues, and nobody ever complains about ’em doing so. The Democrat Party is the biggest purveyor of social issues. The Democrat Party is the biggest promoter of social issues. The Democrat Party’s agenda demands movement on social issues! This idea that the Republicans are pushing social issues is absurd.

Now, I know what it really means. What it really means when some Wall Street-New York liberal Republican starts complaining about social issues, he’s talking about abortion. It’s a single issue, and they’re tired of it, and they think that the Republican Party can’t win if that becomes an important campaign issue. The reason they think that is because the left has been so successful in corrupting the culture, folks.

I mean, there are a lot of people who are very aware that America as they’ve known it – our society, culture, whatever you want to call it – is undergoing massive transformation, and not for the good, not for the betterment. And they don’t know specifically why, and they certainly don’t know how to stop it. But yet when Republicans start talking about abortion, if they do, then they think the Republicans are the problem….

Free expression is the enemy of the left. The First Amendment, free expression is the enemy of all of these leftist groups try to transform the culture. While they try to tell you that they are the epitome of liberation, they are the epitome of freedom, they are the epitome of free this and free that, it’s the exact opposite.

They are oppressors.

  • Wesley J. Smith discusses a man sentenced to life in prison in Tennessee who has asked to be euthanized so he can donate his organs to his parents. Smith points out that while this won’t happen for a variety of reasons yet in the U.S., Belgium is ahead of the game in coupling euthanasia with organ donation and in giving prisoners the option of euthanasia.
  • Priests for Life has been granted a temporary stay against the HHS contraceptive mandate:

“Without the stay granted today, we would have been in the position of being fined for failing to comply with the mandate,” Father Pavone said. “But no matter what happens, we will not obey the mandate, nor will we pay fines to the government.”The stay will remain in effect while the Supreme Court considers the case.

  • Americans United for Life applauds Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, who “signed into a law a groundbreaking, pro-life measure that passed with tremendous bi-partisan support and will expand the enforcement options for any violation of state abortion laws as well as provide greater protections for young girls who become victims of sexual abuse.”

As seen in Live Action’s undercover videos, Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry train their staff to turn a blind eye to sexual abuse and statutory rape. (“I didn’t hear the age. I don’t want to know the age.”) AUL’s Dr. Charmaine Yoest adds, “Too often, sex offenders fake a parent’s signature to use abortion as a cover up for abuse, and for too long, the abortion industry has turned a blind eye to crimes committed by evil men, as they profit from the cover up.”

  • At A Drop in the Ocean, Laura slams California’s attack on pregnancy resource centers by comparing the bill – which would force pregnancy resource centers to tell women where to get abortions – to forcing a Jewish deli to tell customers where to buy pork:

Hello, and welcome to Shamash’s! Before you sit down to eat, we want you to know that New York has public programs that provide immediate free or low-cost access to comprehensive pork dishes (including all FDA-approved methods of smoked ham), pulled pork, and pork sausage, for eligible people. To determine whether you qualify, contact the county social food services office at 1-800-YAY-PORK.

  • ProWomanProLife notes the work of organizations which are encouraging women to “ditch the Pill.” Natural family planning, once thought to be practiced mainly by Catholics, is gaining in popularity as we learn more about the detrimental effects of hormonal birth control.
  • Secular Pro-Life (which has also just launched a new outreach called PreventPreterm.org – check it out), addresses the reasoning behind a New York court which decided that Choose Life license plates are too offensive to some people, so they should be disallowed:

Last week, a federal appellate court ruled that New York could ban Choose Life license plates because they are “patently offensive” — a legal term usually reserved for hard-core pornography. The ruling was met with instant derision from grassroots pro-lifers and legal scholars alike.

At the time, SPL simply condemned the decision with a tweet, which was widely retweeted and even made it onto Twitchy….

UCLA law professor Eugene Volokh wrote up the decision in the Washington Post. (You should read the whole thing.) He begins with the obvious point that it’s a First Amendment violation. But then he explains the Second Circuit’s reasoning, if you want to call it that, and it is truly incredible. The logic of the opinion requires the assumption that pro-choice New Yorkers are so violent, pro-lifers have to be censored for their own safety.

  • A Voice for Hope shares this great graphic and quote from former Surgeon General Dr. C. Everett Koop (pictured right):
  • As Father’s Day draws near, Priests for Life highlights a ministry to post-abortive men:

Healing the Shockwaves of Abortion was launched in January at the March for Life in Washington, D.C.….

Janet Morana and Georgette Forney, co-founders of Silent No More, noted that men can play many roles in an abortion decision. Some men coerce women into abortion; others had no knowledge until it was too late. Some are complicit in the decision and some are just silent.

“We know through our work with Silent No More that no matter what role a man played, he is often thrown off guard by his reaction to the abortion,” Mrs. Morana said. “Many feel they have failed as men by allowing, or insisting on, the destruction of their own child.”

“Men are often pushed to the margins of the abortion debate, but after the baby and the mother, fathers are the most directly impacted,” Mrs. Forney said. “We want them to know they are deserving of healing and we want to help them restore peace to their souls.

  • At Live Action News, Sarah Terzo refutes the outrageous claims of pro-abortion Methodist minister John M. Swomley, who argues that preborn children are not innocent (due to original sin) and therefore cannot be considered harmless if their existence produces a threat to their mothers. As outrageous as these arguments are, it is even sadder to hear them coming from purported representatives of the Gospel. Terzo rightly points out:

Swomley’s argument would also justify infanticide. A baby outside the womb would still be considered to have “Original Sin” until baptism, in many faith traditions. Therefore, prior to the moment when the priest or pastor pours water on the child’s forehead (or baptizes him some other way) it would be permissible to kill the child.

  • At First Things, Michael J. New points to a disturbing trend that should concern pro-lifers:

Last week, Gallup released a poll which showed a large short term increase support for physician assisted suicide. In 2013, only 45 percent of Americans found doctor assisted suicide “morally acceptable.” Last week’s poll indicated that percentage had risen to 56 percent. It is likely that the fawning media coverage of Brittany Maynard’s [pictured left] assisted suicide this past November shifted public attitudes.

  • Euthanasia Prevention Coalition reposts an article by disability rights expert Marilyn Golden on California’s assisted suicide bill SB 128, which is modeled after Oregon’s law. Unfortunately, not only does OR allow physician-assisted suicide, they keep very poor statistical records, leaving many questions unanswered and unanalyzed. Golden asks, “Is this the model California really wants to use for something this important?”
  • JivinJehoshaphat dissects a pro-choice Salon article in which an abortion worker acknowledges the humanity of the preborn child while diminishing it:

What I noticed is how Beeman admitted earlier that the unborn have tiny arms and legs, yet goes on to use the intentionally dehumanizing term “unwanted growth” to describe them as if the human individual these arms and legs were torn from was like a wart on a foot….My thought is that the idea that a woman should be able to kill the helpless human being living inside for whatever reason she wants is not a position most people are comfortable defending even if that’s the actual reason they favor legal abortion. It’s much easier to push those tiny arms and legs aside and imagine the unborn as a bunion or a pimple because making the bodily autonomy argument is much easier if another human being isn’t being torn apart.

  • Fletcher Armstrong ran into an issue at Tennessee Tech University when school officials were unaware of their own policy “allow[ing] individual students (not just student groups) to host events on campus”:

[W]hen national pro-life award-winner and TTU student Justin Brown contacted us about bringing GAP [Genocide Awareness Project], we were eager to go….
As it turns out, every public university student has the same right that Justin exercised at TTU; their universities just don’t know it… yet. The rights of free speech and equal access to university grounds are individual rights, not group rights. They cannot be denied to an individual student simply because he hasn’t identified others willing to join him in that speech. TTU has figured this out, and they deserve credit for that.

  • Clinic Quotes uncovers a statement from Lawrence McKinney, who was a Planned Parenthood board member in upstate New York. Note his sneering disdain for larger families (especially those on welfare):

All I do actually is to multiply them by $600, which is deductible from their income tax and realize that I, with only three children, am paying for them. The McKinney suggestion, which has and will go nowhere is: 1) give everybody a tax reduction for four children and after that make them pay $600 for every other child. The only trouble with my system is that since most of the explosive families are on relief anyway, there is nothing to deduct from or to tax with.

boot camp finalby Jill and Kelli

Following the tradition we started four years ago, we’re posting all the upcoming summer pro-life teen- and college-aged boot camps we found listed around the country. If we missed any, please let Kelli know.

Pro-life infographics on maternal mortality, sex trafficking

Happy weekend! Here are a couple great new infographics by talented pro-lifers you may find useful. Click both to enlarge.

The first, by Students for Life of America, is in response to the announcement by Senate Democrats that they plan to filibuster a bill that would increase penalties to those convicted of human trafficking, this because it includes Hyde Amendment language blocking federal funding for abortions of pregnant victims of sex trafficking…

Sex trafficking

The second infographic, quite informative, is via the Radiance Foundation and has been posted in conjunction with the United Nations 59th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women, being held in New York March 9-20 (Also be sure to read, “Abortion expansion more important to Dems than rescuing women from sex slavery,” a March 14 op ed in The The Hill by LifeSiteNews.com editor John-Henry Weston)…

Female abortionists share their feelings about what they do

by Kelli

femaleabortionists

I don’t even really know a lot of people who have had abortions. But I liked the experience, I found it very satisfying, and I found the patients’ stories very compelling….

I have never had a point where I didn’t think this was the right thing to do.

Dr. Gabrielle Goodrick, Arizona abortionist

I feel saddened that abortion care can’t just be incorporated into a woman’s regular physician care [like any other medical treatment].

Dr. S., Michigan abortionist

I can’t think of anything more important than providing abortions.

Dr. Lisa Perriera, Ohio abortionist

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am doing the right thing….

~ Dr. Cheryl Chastine, Kansas abortionist

I can honestly say I absolutely love my job.

Dr. Dana Kusnir, New York abortionist

~ Female abortionists describe what they love most about performing abortions, as quoted by Robin Marty, Cosmopolitan, March 10
