Thanks to abortion advocates for all the coathanger psa’s

imageBack in January 2010 I reported that the DC Abortion Fund had given the “gorgeous and touching” coat hanger pendant as a holiday fundraising gift. And it’s so très chic, constructed of “handmade sterling silver,” no less.

Two days ago, National Review Online noticed DCAF is again hawking the coat hanger bauble, and this time Drudge picked up the story, drawing the abortion funder lots of scorn.

An editor at U.S. News & World Report called DCAF’s give-away a “misguided parody” that “makes you wonder what goes on in the minds of people who think a trinket like that is a good idea as it lampoons the horrors of back alley abortions and makes light of the imagery the supporters of legal abortion used for decades to get their point across.”

I, on the other hand, want to thank DCAF and the pro-abortion community for their decades long “anti-coathanger abortion” public service announcements. They pretty much ensure no one will be so senseless as to try to kill her baby that way once abortion again becomes illegal, since the psa’s make it clear she might take herself out in the process.

BREAKING: 93 abortion clinics closed in 2013

breakingOperation Rescue has posted a year-end report on the number of abortion clinics that closed in 2013, and the news is good.

OR, which hosts AbortionDocs.org and tracks abortion clinic comings and goings, reports a whopping 87 surgical abortion clinics and six medical abortion clinics closed in 2013, for a total of 93.

Handing out 12-wk preborn “squish alien” baby models at fair “weird, extreme, unsettling”

[Rob] Port said this was the wrong way of spreading the anti-abortion message. He wrote a blog, “Dear Pro-Lifers: Can You Stop Being a Bunch of Weirdos?” on July 21: “Whatever group is out there trying to promote the pro-life message by handing out squish alien babies, stop. You’re doing more harm than good.” Dina […]

“Incredible acceleration… whole new level of attack… designed to gut Roe”

Even though in my post, “Pro-life March Madness: “Sweeping… hurtling… astonishing display,” I wrote about the vast array of pro-life legislation passing in the states, I was still struck when reading through my google alerts over the weekend just how much we are suddenly accomplishing, as if a log jam has been broken. Here is just a sampling of headlines from the past week. Click to enlarge…

New Stanek poll: Will we finally see an abortion-free state in 2013?

Poll 2.pngI have a new poll question up:

The fate of at least 3 abortion clinics that are the sole providers in their state hangs in the balance. Will we finally see an abortion-free state in 2013?

Those states are Alabama, Mississippi, and North Dakota.

What do you think?

Our last poll question was:

  • Yesterday at the Kermit Gosnell trial, a former employee of Gosnell named Elizabeth Hampton testified about her difficulties working at his clinic:

Hampton testified that she would pour the jar of red liquid from the machine down a sink drain and turn on the garbage disposal. She said she did not know if the liquid contained fetal body parts.“I left because of things I saw. I went out that night and started drinking at the bar across the street,” Hampton said, her voice choking with emotion. “I fell off the wagon.”

  • In Israel, a woman has been arrested after a home birth resulted in a dead child. An autopsy is being done to determine whether the child was stillborn, as the mother claims.
  • In an interview with Sarah Kliff, Tammi Kromenaker, the operator of the only abortion clinic in North Dakota, notes that there is room for only one abortion clinic in the state:

SK: How long have you been the only abortion clinic in North Dakota?

TK: Since February 2001. Just to be clear, we’re not like Mississippi where other clinics have been legislated out of existence. This population is small, and it can only support one clinic. There was one that opened in 1991 and closed in 2001. There were two clinics for about two and a half years, but Fargo can’t support more than one clinic.

  • LTI’s Scott Klusendorf recently had a conversation with a woman who is personally pro-life but can’t understand “how anyone could tell a woman who is raped that it’s wrong to have one.”
