Video of Jimmy Kimmel's rent-a-cops posing as active duty cops

Read backstories here, here, and here.

In my last post I said Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust would soon upload video of retired and off-duty rent-a-cops posing as on-duty cops at the Jimmy Kimmel stunt shoot, when cameramen turned their spotlights on a teen pro-life protester. Following are a couple.

In this 1st video Troy Newman of Operation Rescue realizes the pretense and calls the posers on it. They sheepishly do not deny Newman's claim....

In this next video Jeff White, founder of the Survivors, asks one of the film crew cops point blank several times, "Are you LAPD?" He attempts to deflect White's questioning before wilting away as the same younger rent-a-cop as in the 1st video steps in....

Incidentally, White's shirt has been torn by cameramen who refused to turn their spotlights away from young Ryan Bueler and fought White off when he then tried to...

Apparently there is on-going controversy whether retired and off-duty LAPD officers who have been hired for security by the film industry should be allowed to wear their uniforms. (Read here and here.)

On 1 side is the film industry that says, 1) the public won't respect film crew cops who wear security guard garb; and 2) they'll have to pay more for on-duty cops in LAPD uniform.

LAPD film unit.jpgOn the other side is the LAPD, which, quoting the Los Angeles Daily News, "is concerned that retired officers do not have enough training and it creates the impression that the LAPD is staffing the shoots."

That's exactly what happened in the Kimmel lighting crew incident. The pro-life/Kimmel controversy lands in the middle of the LAPD rent-a-cops-wearing-their-uniforms controversy.

One of many problems here in the interest of justice is the built-in bias of rent-a-cops in favor of the film crew they are being paid to protect. If they make waves for members of the very film company that has hired them, they obviously know they'll not get hired again. As one commenter wrote on one of my Newsbusters posts about this, "Don't be fooled. They're to protect the production, not the public."

LAPD film unit badge.jpgThe next problem is the built-in bias of on-duty cops coming late on the scene to believe what their rent-a-cop brothers tell them about the situation. Note in the top video the younger cop states on-duty police apprehended White and not the camera crew because "he's instigating this," when, in fact, the opposite was true.

On the other hand, the problem for them now is that the Survivors have an awful lot of video footage. There were 100 pro-life teens on the scene with likely 100 cell phones with video, these in addition to video cameras the Survivors always take to protests to document incidences just such as this.

Following is just one troublesome video for the other side. In it one of the cameramen admits several times he has turned the spotlight on Bueler and his graphic sign of an aborted baby because "I don't want to see that," and "The fact is, I don't want to see it." There are also clear shots of all the camera crew. Note at the very end of the video - after the altercation has been ongoing over 7 minutes - the film crew cops finally show their faces...

The Survivors have uploaded several other snippets from the scene here.

Great Post!

In reading the following:

"Note in the top video the younger cop states on-duty police apprehended White and not the camera crew because "he's instigating this," when, in fact, the opposite was opposite."

did you mean to say, "when in fact the opposite was TRUE"?

I was hoping the teenagers would have been directed by White to move a mere five feet along the sidewalk and out of the lights. Then watch the union crew adjust their lights back onto the teenagers making the crew's malicious intent clearer.

But what's done is done.

I love how as soon as "rent a cop" was thrown in the air all the "cops" went "WHOA!!!!" as if it was the worst thing! So trying to fry someone is okay, aborting babies is okay, trampling Constitutional rights is okay, but don't you DARE call them rent a cops!

Are they seriously trying to say they were assulted by lights? Well good luck with that... LOL

Do they just get cameras and go out and try to make trouble to film?

Biggz, read the back stories.

You will read that those *high-powered* lights were supposed to be aimed at a location *across the street*. The lights actually melted one of the teens' bracelets he was wearing and reddened his skin.

My grandmother survived the ACTUAL Holocaust. It is deeply sickeninmg and offensive for you to use such a deplorable manipulative tactic to sway people to your side as comparing a legitimate medical procedure that has been statistically proven to reduce the rate of mothers dying from complications to an attempt to wipe out millions of people. It is a disgusting hateful manipulative tactic. If you TRULY believe YOUR side is the right one then have the courage to let your argument stand on it's own two feet. To co-opt the Holocaust as a way to emotionally manipulate people intop taking your side is at best crass and at worst cowardly and deplorable.

No one here is dishonoring your grandmother by labeling abortion a holocaust. Most of the pro-lifers here, I'd venture to say, are pro-Israel and love the Jewish people. We hold them in high esteem. No one is trying to insult anyone.

... a legitimate medical procedure that has been statistically proven to reduce the rate of mothers dying from complications

Penny, if this "legitimate medical procedure" were done ONLY to save the lives of mothers, would that be ok with you? Because right now, that "legitimate medical procedure" (which was, incidentally, performed extensively by Dr. Josef Mengele) is done practically without restriction around the world and takes the lives of 42 million innocent humans per year worldwide.

I have seen the images of the Holocaust at museums, and I have cried. Are those photos there to emotionally manipulate people? No. They are there to remind us of what can happen when there is no respect for life, and to memorialize those whose lives were destroyed. Man's inhumanity to man is appalling. Standing against the slaughter of all innocent human beings is important.

Every survivor? I am sorry for the suffering your family has endured, Penny, but please don't dishonor the survivor I lived next door to for 20+ years by presuming to speak on her behalf.

If her firsthand witness of dehumanization and mass murder is her basis for comparing abortion to a holocaust or the historical Holocaust, isn't she entitled to her viewpoint? To think that another survivor's family would slap labels like "disgusting, hateful, manipulative" on her for speaking out saddens me very much.

Penny....Hitler thought Jews were in the way of German utopia. He said they weren't human like everyone else. He dehumanized them and German society turned away to live their selfish lives as Jewish families were torn apart, rounded up like animals and killed. Mother watched their babies dying in the gas chambers. HORRIBLE. Sickening. A waste of precious human life.

It is very much like the abortion situation today. The pro-choice side sees unborn babies as being in the way of women's utopia. They say they aren't human like you and me. They are dehumanized and society turns away to live their selfish lives while these babies are systematically torn apart in their mother's wombs. Or in the spirit of the Nazis born alive and then dissected alive in the name of medical research. Yes, that IS going on.

Please google Center for Bioethical Reform. Click on the videos they have of ACTUAL abortion procedures and then come back here and tell me that you really believe that is a "legitimate medical procedure". I think you haven't researched what atrocities you are trying to defend here. And as the descendent of a Holocaust survivor...SHAME ON YOU. You of all people should be a defender of human life.

I've researched abortiuon JUST fine, I know EXACTLY what it is and what it entails. And while I personally believe that it is only appropriate in cases of rape or fatal risk to the mother's life, it is STILL and SHOULD ALWAYS be the choice of the woman involved. It's HER body. Not mine, not yours, HERS. And SHE has to live with her decision. Not me, not you, SHE. And as the brain doesn't develop until well into the second trimester, at conception or withing the first six weeks it's physically and biologically no different than an amoeba. I don't LIKE abortion but a woman's innate right to choose for her own body is none of your goddamned business, and the term "Abortion Holocaust" is still an emotionally manipulative and deeply offensive bastardization of the REAL Holocaust. I've known women who have had Abortions. Some were haunted by it, some never blinked, but even those haunted could never tell me a tale that comes CLOSE to being on par with the horrors my grandmother saw.

Pro-lifers are manipulative hypocrites. You want to be pro-life? Stop the daily thousands of animal euthanizations all over North America. All those already born fully living breathing dogs and cats being murdered every day because no one wants them. I never see you people lift a finger to stop THAT, and that's far worse than abortion.

Stop using the term "Abortion Holocaust". Anyone who uses that term is not worth the air they breathe and does the Pro-Life movement far more harm than good.

Posted by: Penny Sautereau-Fife at July 14, 2010 8:33 AM I KNOW you didn't research a thing on abortion. You have NO idea what it entails. You have not a CLUE about prenatal development or you wouldn't be saying a 6 week old baby is the same as an amoeba. I had my first ultrasound at 5 weeks post conception. I can tell you Penny, from EXPERIENCE that my son at 5 weeks had a heartbeat, hands and feet and a FACE. That was at a little more than a month old! He certainly was not an amoeba. How ridiculous you sound. How is anyone going to listen to you when you can't even get your facts straight?

And in your hysterical rant you mentioned animal rights and euthanizing animals...what does that have to do with anything? Can you stay on topic please.

Animals are not human beings so..... your point is.....???

Posted by: Sydney M. at July 14, 2010 9:11 AM

To use any holocaust or any terrible autrocity a relative went through to ease your troubled consciense is what is deplorable. You are the cowardly one attempting to emotionally manipulate people in to taking your side.

Penny, not attempting to rain on your hate parade but several weeks ago I adopted a rescue dog (my 6th). She is a formally-abused shy beautiful black border collie mix.

So I have lifted a finger to stop THAT too. (: Another prolife myth busted.
