Susan B. Anthony List vs EMILY’s List in mother of all political battles for feminist mantle
Tuesday’s primary election results made it a banner day for pro-life female candidates.
Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser went so far as to call the wins “the greatest affirmation of our mission in the history of the organization.” and “proof that Americans are responding to authentic, pro-life feminism.”…
Here were the 6 particular victories, according to SBA List:
In CA, Carly Fiorina defeated Tom Campbell and Chuck DeVore with 56% of the vote and Star Parker of CA-37 continues on to the General Election after an uncontested primary.
Sharron Angle won the NV Senate Republican Primary with 40% of the vote….
[I]n NJ’s 6th Congressional District, Anna Little leads with less than 100 votes in a race that has not yet been called.
Nikki Haley won 48.9% of the vote in the SC Gubernatorial Primary, qualifying her for the run-off….
[I]n SD, Kristi Noem received 42% of the vote in SD’s At-Large Republican Primary.
Leading pro-life “mama grizzly” feminist Sarah Palin was 3 for 4 Tuesday. She endorsed winners Haley (pictured right with Palin), Fiorina, and IA Gov. Terry Branstad (a guy).
Palin’s only endorsed candidate to lose was AR congressional candidate Cecile Bledsoe (also endorsed by Michelle Duggar).
These pro-life woman victories have taken liberal feminists aback. Wrote Hanna Rosin at Slate:
Indeed, Rachael. Conspicuous silence on the part of us confused feminists after today’s election results, which look like a sweep for women. In some corners, outright pouting. In others, moronic defiance. “I’m all for sisterhood (or whatever) but not if it includes women like these,” wrote another Jezebel commenter….
Does this mean we shouldn’t clap, even tepidly, for any of them? Of course not. But you need to give us time. The forward march of progress was really not supposed to happen this way. We were waiting for someone different, better, fresher. Someone more on our team.
Specifically “our team” only includes pro-aborts. And EMILY’S List, a PAC that only endorses Democrat pro-abort women, needed no time to draw battle lines. It immediately declared war in CA for what will be the mother of all battles for the feminist mantle this election season. Here’s an email sent by president Stephanie Schriock the morning after (click to enlarge):
2nd to praying, donating to the Susan B. Anthony List today is the best way to stop EMILY’s List et al.
I’m not sure anyone saw this coming, but we have a real shot to take feminism back by electing pro-life women. It clearly looks as if public consensus is swinging our way, if we can just stay out front with the messaging, which requires money.

Just look at the Republican female candidates. In California its women who are successful founders and leaders of business. The Democrat candidate for governor in California is a 70’s retread, Jerry Brown.
In Nevada its Sharron Angle who is already 11 points ahead of Harry Reid in the polls, despite the millions spent by Reid.
Certainly the so called feminists of NOW are beside themselves with joy.
While I am no fan of Blanche Lincoln and hope she’s defeated in November, I’m thrilled she defeated her primary opponent Halter and the unions and leftists that supported him wound up throwing away millions. I get the impression PMSNBC’s Rachel Madcow and Keith Blowharderman were less then thrilled with Halter’s loss, which makes it even better.
I heard that Sharron Angle is something of a nut, is this true?
I do like Carly, but she is a little awkward in public and her resignation at Hewlett Packard (she was forced to resign) is going to come back to haunt her.
Hi phillymiss,
I would be wary of what I hear about conservative candidates. Every effort will be made to portray them as “nuts”.
Look how Sarah Palin has been crucified. I well remember when Vice President Dan Quayle was literally persecuted by the media. They were unrelenting and appalling in their cruelty. Their “crimes”? They were conservative.
I don’t hear too much effort to portray Jerry Brown portrayed negatively though I’m sure there’s a reason he’s call “Moonbeam”.
Well, I won’t be voting for him, although I did the first time he ran for Governor. He’s as old as John McCain was when John ran for president. That’s way too old.
Also consider the source in location. Any Baptist would probably be called a “loon” when you consider what happens in Las Vegas every day, i.e. pole dancers being exhibited in a see-through truck down the Strip, etc.
I would consider these quotes from Harry Reid as well:
“My staff tells me not to say this, but I’m going to say it anyway,” said Reid in his remarks. “In the summer because of the heat and high humidity, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol. It may be descriptive but it’s true.”

“I believe … that this war is lost, and this surge is not accomplishing anything, as is shown by the extreme violence in Iraq this week,” Reid told journalists.
You go girls!!!
Let’s take America back!
Amen, Ed.
Go Ladies! Kick some democrat b*tts!!
Anyone notice how she quoted the SBA “[choice] will be an issue in the campaign” I would love to see the document they are quoting from and see what words [choice] replaced.
Talk about blatantly twisting words.

SBA sent out an email with that email in it (the whole email, too, not any namby-pamby, out-of-context quotes), and I noticed that exact same thing. I went back over a few of my recent SBA emails trying to find where that quote comes from, but either I just missed it, didn’t go back far enough, or it wasn’t in an email. I thought about googling, but I’m not quite that curious.
…Actually, I am. BRB.
…Huh. Google is giving me indifferent results. Apparently that quote was Dannenfelser talking about abortion, and she said “This will be an issue in the campaign, without fail.” So, arguably, substituting “choice” in for “this” isn’t an entirely hideous misdirection. Assuming that my search results didn’t go entirely awry. Darn Google-fu quitting on me.
Go Susan B. Anthony List!!! Woo! Woo! Woo! You know you must be kicking some serious butt when Emily’s List sends out an entire email listing you as their enemy. Let us bind together in prayer Christian prolifers and fight some serious spiritual warfare against the pro-death, Dead Babies R Us crowd. “Let God arise and His enemies be scattered”. He promised to send His angels to do battle for us. “If God be for us, who can be against us?” “For God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, of love and of a sound mind”. “Be strong and very courageous for the Lord is with thee. Keep up the good fight, SBA List, Jill Stanek, prolife political candidates, all prolife organizations and fellow prolifers. God bless you all.
Now Sarah Palin is all the more monstrous to the N.O.W. fems and the M.S. Media. She has succeeded in leading a pro-life feminist political stampede towards November. I say “stampede” because where there are candidates, there are VOTERS gathered in great numbers….
Contrast that, MEL, with Obama’s “death touch”…almost everybody he endorses, loses their bid.
I say to Obama, keep endorsing your ilk!
