Quote of the Day 2-1-11
A young woman who wants an abortion can easily find out where to get one. If a pregnancy center offers alternatives to abortion and offers clothing, prenatal classes and adoption counseling, that activity doesn’t prevent a woman from going elsewhere to get an abortion.
Why is a center offering an alternative to abortion such a threat to Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and to Planned Parenthood? Is PP going to go broke if a few women who thought about abortion changed their minds?
Will the city force Planned Parenthood to post signage saying it really likes to promote abortion and makes a lot of money doing abortions?
Baltimore City needs to focus on more important things than safeguarding Planned Parenthood’s lucrative abortion business.
~Jim Roberts, in a letter to the editor of the Baltimore Sun, discouraging an appeal of the ruling in favor of pregnancy resource centers, January 31

Uh, isn’t Baltimore financially strapped? I agree with Mr. Roberts — don’t they have other, more important things to worry about?
Here in my city, many of the women the CPC’s serve are women of color, yet it seems that it’s the black Democratic politicians who are so vocal in their opposition to them. I just can’t figure it out.
Baltimore City needs to focus on more important things than safeguarding Planned Parenthood’s lucrative abortion business.
Change the city to any city, or even: The United States needs to focus on more important things than safeguarding PP’s lucrative abortion business.
Such a no-brainer, I can’t believe the hatred of pregnancy some people must have to attack the CPC’s like we’ve been seeing.
The Baltimore mayor has apparently taken a twisted message from the tv show set in her city: “Homicide – Life In the Streets”.
Hi phillymiss,
A Democrat is first and foremost a Democrat. That will always take precedence. Given the history of the Democrat Party, I am more perplexed that a black American would be a Democrat.
