Gene Simmons: Women “should have thousands of babies and be in charge”
Women should be in charge, like the insect kingdom. You’re much brighter than we are.
You should have thousands of babies and be in charge.
~Former Kiss rock band member Gene Simmons, CNBC [Warning: vulgar language; discussion begins at 2:23], May 20

Hm… that’s interesting. As much as I love babies, especially my own, I don’t know about having thousands myself! O_o Maybe if I had all those workers to help out! lol

Anyone know the mother of thousands of children?
I would like to meet her!!! :)

That’s nice, but how about men stepping up to be good fathers of the children they help create?

Why is anyone paying any attention to Gene Simmons anyway? The guy tells us one minute to donate to PP, and then this? Please don’t waste my time….

Must’ve been all that makeup back in the 70’s.

The quote of the day features quotes from pro-life and pro-choice sources in order to generate discussion. Obviously, it wasn’t “time wasted” since it caused you to comment. ;)

He is such a scum bag. He acts like he respects women and thinks we’re smarter? How much smarter does he think we are when he treats women like they are dumb whores and then throws them away like trash? He has NO respect for women. GAG. He grosses me out.

This comment reminds me of a video I saw recently based on the “Manifesto of Conscientious Men” or something like that. Basically, a bunch of men coming together with a long rambling sort-of apology that the world is only just now working out the whole women-have-human-rights-too thing, but they also thought that women had nigh-magical abilities to be in tune with nature and thus heal the planet, to understand our own bodies in an almost mystical fashion, to create peace and harmony and thus end warfare around the globe…
And every time I see some man, well-intentioned or not, going off like that, I have to wonder what women are supposed to see in men, if we’re all so gosh-darned amazing? So, Mr. Simmons, same question. If women are so intelligent, commanding, organized, and problem-solvey that we can easily be in charge of “thousands of babies,” what on earth would we want with you? Clearly, if that is the case, we are on such a higher order than men that any interaction with men would be a waste of time so great it verges on criminal.

He has such “respect” for women, yet he has never married the mother of his children (Shannon Tweed). They just live together without being married. Of course, that means that SHE doesn’t have much respect for HERSELF if she just settled for being his “long time girlfriend”. Of course, she’s also a former Playboy Playmate, which also speaks of her lack of respect for herself…just my opinion ;)

Yes, because insects are life forms we should attempt to emulate. They’re so rational and empathetic…oh…wait…

Marriage does not automatically indicate respect for women. Nor does long-term monogomous co-habitation indicate disrespect. It’s about committment enabling longevity of a relationship.
If you can’t have respect for yourself without being married that says more about you.

Jill, your posts are usually right on and extremely informative. This one has me puzzled. I figured it must be important enough to have us wade thru the filthy language/f-word, not once, but numerous times in addition to all his other ramblings. I remain baffled. Why are we listening to this guy’s profanity and nonsense?

I’ve had plenty of respect for myself before AND after marriage. I also have respect for God, Reality, but thanks for trying to make it personal.

What planet are you on Pamela?
YOU made it personal when you said about Shannon Tweed “SHE doesn’t have much respect for HERSELF if she just settled for being his “long time girlfriend” and “They just live together without being married.” – it doesn’t get more personal than that!
I’m glad that you’ve had respect for yourself both before and after marriage. You’ll note that I said “If you can’t have respect for yourself without being married that says more about you.” Why did I say that? Because your personal attack on Shannon Tweed indicates that you don’t think women in a non-marital relationship can respect themselves.

I thought we were talking about insects and thousands of babies.
My bad.
Now if we can just get Sharon Tweed to join the conversation…

What sort of ‘morals’ do we think insects might have carder? Bugged if I know!

This is a “Quote of the Day” entry which, like all quotes of the day, contains quotes by various individuals, either pro-life or pro-choice, which are used to generate discussion on various issues.
There was also a profanity warning posted, so anyone deciding to click the link would be informed before doing so.

Cali is a community property state. She was a playboy bunny. he was a multi- millionaire musician. She had a career, too. You might not like it, but it is legal.
They probably bet that their private arrangement was stronger than the hollow and public pronouncements that were then followed up by a divorce.
It really can be a question of legal entanglements, not necessarily emotional states. And, well, honestly, you can call a wife a “ball and chain” and girls will come out of the woodwork to try and take the queen bee down. If you are a girlfriend, in that milieu, you can’t really estimate what the connection is, or how close the couple is, and she’s harder to separate from her mate. You don’t know what the connection is- emotional, spiritual, sexual, unsavory sexual practices, long habit….On a wife, you just assume it’s habit. Probably the most stable relationship I had in that sort of context, I was just mentioned as the roommate, if I was mentioned at all. No one could particularly see the connection, so they couldn’t work on breaking it, if that makes sense.
And, well, like with Mariah Shriver, it’s hard to tell if she’s upset he’s unfaithful to her, or if there is another child claiming patrimony. I know that sounds harsh and bleak.
I’m married now. For the first few years, amongst that sort of social network, I was considered really foolish. The words included “big baby” and “stupid” and “so when you get your divorce……”

Gene’s a smart guy and he thinks for himself, i.e. while he’s a social liberal, he did support Bush Jr’s foreign policy. Say what you want – I don’t think he’s ever boozed or done drugs.

All these aging rock stars look ridiculous with long hair and clothes that are suitable for a twenty year old. Grow up.

Phillymiss, maybe he’s really not cognizant of how he comes off, but in Gene’s case I wouldn’t bet on it.
Hey – I hear what you’re saying, and there is so much of what I consider ludicrous posturing and “image” effort on the part of celebrities, Donald Trump, Lady Gaga, etc., that I too think Gene’s look is sometimes silly, but like I said, the dude is *smart* and he’s one heck of businessman, very calculating and thinking ahead. Could be all part of his plan, and I don’t know anybody else in show biz that I’d give such a high percent chance of that being the case.

Alyssa, I take it that you’re being at least partly humorous?
“Hook em,’ Horns!”
If not, then here’s a funny site: http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/False%20Religions/Wicca%20&%20Witchcraft/signs_of_satan.htm
It’s got a whole bunch of people doing it in pictures, including:
Republican vice presidential candidate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, with her daughter Willow holding her son Trig, campaigns at a rally in Henderson, Nevada. Notice how Palin makes a Satanic sign with both hands! Boy was she desperate to get elected! Sarah Palin is a sell-out, clearly showing her willingness to spiritually fornicate with the Devil, i.e., “wickedness in high places” (Ephesians 6:12).
