Pro-life tea partier intends to run against Speaker of the House John Boehner
I’m not delusional. I don’t know if I have a chance at beating the Speaker of the House. But what I can do is show the Ohio voters that Boehner has a box full of empty rhetoric.
… He’s an establishment Republican. He doesn’t believe in the Tea Party. He doesn’t really believe in the pro-life issues.
~ Tea Party activist David Lewis, who announced his candidacy to run against Speaker of the House John Boehner in the 2012 election, Cincinnati Enquirer via CBS News, September 17
I believe Mr. Lewis is wrong.

Jen, I agree completely. Here is one quote from a LifeNews.com article (published today) about this exact topic.
“According to the National Right to Life Committee, in 90 votes Boehner has cast on pro-life issues — ranging from abortion and abortion funding, to de-funding Planned Parenthood, to keep abortion out of Obamacare, and on bioethics issues — Boehner has never cast a single pro-abortion vote.”

I wish that 10, 20, and 30 years ago we had a problem with too many pro-life politicians competing…
It’s all good. I like Boehner’s style with the media so far, though I don’t put much faith in politicians in general. But what I like best about him is how his very presence riles up the pro-aborts.

I’m always one to stick up for the Tea Party because I believe they are unfairly maligned by the media, and I generally agree with what they stand for. In this case, though, Mr. Lewis seems to be targeting Boehner because he’s not “tea party enough” or something. To say that Boehner doesn’t really believe in pro-life issues is just plain slander. Mr. Lewis sounds like a guy with a chip on his shoulder. The Tea Party is not the end-all and be-all of government.

I think the problem is a lot of people join a movement and expect and demand instant success, and aren’t prepared to deal with the trench-warfare reality of winning people over to your side, getting them on the same page and getting your goal accomplished in the face of a hostile foe. It’s always easy to second-guess when you aren’t the one responsible for calling all the shots.

At the tea party debate, when asked in a scenario if society should let a 30 year old uninsured person with medical issues die…several tea party folks in the audience shouted “YES”.
Is that the pro-life stance the tea party folks are going for these days?

EX, just curious: how do you ascertain who in the audience is a tea-partier?

Lewis’s lips look sort of puffy, like he’s got a cheeseburger in his mouth, and Boehner has a much better tan.
