Pro-life candidate draws death threats over graphic ads
Pro-life activist Gary Boisclair is creating quite a stir in his primary bid against Muslim Democrat incumbent Congressman Keith Ellison in Minnesota’s 5th District, up to and including death threats.
Boisclair freely admits he is running against Ellison solely to take advantage of federal law that forces television stations to air federal candidates’ ads uncensored.
Boisclair is airing three graphic ads, one on Ellison’s support of abortion, one on the underbelly of Ellison’s religion, and one on a combination of the two issues….
The ads began airing August 7 and immediately drew death threats, but Boisclair says he will not be detered.
According to the Star Tribune, August 7:
As a congressional candidate, Gary Boisclair is making good on his promise to go negative.
“This is not pretty,” he said of his television ads that started airing in the Twin Cities on Tuesday afternoon, featuring close-up images of aborted fetuses. “It’s not intended to make people feel good.”
The ads are part of a national campaign backed by longtime abortion opposition leader Randall Terry, the Operation Rescue founder who has run similar ads in Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma and other states.
In the Twin Cities, the 15th-largest media market in the nation, the ads take aim at Minnesota Democrat Keith Ellison, whose Muslim faith is also a target for Boisclair.
“Islam has a long history of shedding blood,” said Boisclair, a native of Buffalo, MN, who now lives in West Virginia, where he describes himself as a Christian missionary.
Ellison’s campaign denounced the ads, which were scheduled to run on all the major networks in the Twin Cities, including during NBC’s 4 p.m. Olympic news time slot on KARE, Channel 11.
“Mr. Boisclair’s television ads are clearly designed to divide Minnesotans and spread fear,” Ellison campaign manager Will Hailer said. “With his official residence listed in West Virginia, it’s not surprising that Mr. Boisclair’s views are out of touch with Minnesota values. Conversely, Representative Ellison is a proud advocate for inclusion, dialogue and a woman’s right to access comprehensive reproductive health care.”
“Comprehensive reproductive health care” – in other words, abortion. Love how they can no longer say the word.
Jill Stanek is a nurse turned speaker, columnist and blogger, a national figure in the effort to protect both preborn and postborn innocent human life.
Wow…I don’t think these ads should be shown at all. The abortion one is just horrid ( I know abortion is horrid ,and I know theres a good case to be made for showing the realities of abortion, but I just don’t think it’s the way to go.
The ad attacking him for swearing on the Koran, well, that’s just obscene and prejudice. I can’t believe he can get away with it.
I thought that Muslims were opposed to abortion.
Muslims can excuse abortions for some “serious reasons” such as fetal anomaly incompatible with life, etc., but they oppose recreational abortion. It’s not a sport to them as it is for our crazy lefties.

I have to agree on the ad attacking Islam. Boisclair has every right to speak out against it, but I think he’ll find those attacks will completely backfire.
The abortion ad is awesome. Every pro-life politician should do this. EVERY SINGLE ONE. If it makes people feel uncomfortable, GOOD. Abortion is not comfortable for the child being ripped limb from limb.
If people were forced to face the decision they casually support with euphemisms, abortion would no longer be legal.

While I am sometimes confused about how to handle the Sharia Law/Muslim issue–it is rampant in Europe. Googgle Creeping Sharia Law….it slowly but surely takes over and destroys the very freedoms and values we have as Americans. The two are NOT compatable!

I found the abortion ads to be extremely powerful. Hopefully, it will spurn people to ask themselves why they were so offended by them.

I’m not partial to any specific religion, so it’s quite easy for me to call spit as I sees it.
As a woman, I find Islam offensive, and “just not cool”. Christianity said it’s not okay for women to be speakers and teachers within the church. Whatever, dudes-I don’t want to be a teacher or speaker within the church, so that doesn’t bother me any. But the Quran says quite a bit about putting women to death for not falling into line, and they can kiss my proudly exposed buttocks:

The Quran might not say much about homosexuality, so I’m willing to accept that these actions are “misunderstandings” done by “extremists”, but look where gays are being stoned to death, and by whom. No, Allah is not alright with me, at least not until the “extremists” stop writing the laws for the rest of them. The crap these imams dictate is disgusting, and if you consider that an imam is just a religious leader that would be analogous to the pope…holy crap! Can you imagine if the pope came out and said that rape victims should be stoned to death, or that homosexuals should be stoned to death? Sheesh. It’s one thing for an out of state candidate with no real chance of winning to air ads that attack his opponents religion. It is doubling down on that mistake for a national pro life leader to support it as exposing “the underbelly” of that religion. Especially when much of pro life has been focused on religious freedom lately.
So here we go again alienating ourselves based on partisan and religious vitriol and completely SEPARATE agendas. Last time I checked, abortion was illegal in almost every Muslim majority country, and legal in almost every Christian majority nation.

Center for Bioethical Reform etc.
Some even require a written contract stating ones commitment to peaceful means even in the face of harassment and violence.
Do you know what the last act of violence was on either side? A bystander BEAT a 77 year old PL woman holding a sign. I’ll bet you didn’t hear about that one in the news.

I was wrong; there were 5 PLers attacked just this month and the mainstream media didn’t cover any of it. Could this possilby be why you believe that we are a violent bunch?
I can PERSONALLY vouch for Media blackouts 1) NOt one major media outlet covered the NYC Freedom for Religion Rally a few months ago–I was there. 2) A close relative is involved in SC 40 Days for life and one of the abortionists pulled a GUN on a peaceful prolifer, was arrested and, pled guilty. Pretty sure that one went unannounced either.
I applaud this man for making and airing these advertisements. America will not end abortion until America sees abortion (Father Frank Pavone). If you find an aborted child’s body to be offensive, think about what we are actually doing thousands of times a day by ignoring the fact that abortions are legal in all fifty states every day, day in and day out.
As far as religion goes – heck ya! Islam is not a peaceful religion, it was founded on war and will continue to try to subdue everyone until they believe in the same way – it is just plainly un American.
The word Islam means “submission.” It does not mean “peace.”

Elsewhere, CC speaks of FRC “linking” homosexuals to pederasty and the like to be indicative that they are a “hate group.”
So what are we to make of CC constantly “linking” pro-lifers to murderers?

Weren’t the original hate crimes against gays perpetrated by scared, insecure straight males???? The christian faiths don’t hate anyone–the hate the act. Very different. We love the abortionist but we don’t love his sin, his actions, we love him as a person. We don’t hate gays, we hate the act of same sex intercourse. It is all a choice. It is a choice to kill babies, It is a choice to engage in unnatural sex acts. We all have free will and the ability to choose other wise . A rapist has a choice to exact his violence or not. Hate the crime not the criminal…Christ wants us to help these lost souls, not cast them aside and ignore them.
