Paul Ryan: Obama has “never once lifted a finger” to protect preborn
“We’re all in this together” – it has a nice ring. For everyone who loves this country, it is not only true but obvious. Yet how hollow it sounds coming from a politician who has never once lifted a hand to defend the most helpless and innocent of all human beings, the child waiting to be born.
Giving up any further pretense of moderation on this issue, and in complete disregard of millions of pro-life Democrats, President Obama has chosen to pander to the most extreme elements of his party.
In the Clinton years, the stated goal was to make abortion “safe, legal and rare.” But that was a different time, and a different president. Now, apparently, the Obama-Biden ticket stands for an absolute, unqualified right to abortion – at any time, under any circumstances, and even at taxpayer expense.
~ Republican pro-life Congressman and Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, speaking at Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit, September 14. See video and read full transcript here.
The problem with “safe, legal, and rare” is twofold. “Safe” only applies to the girl or woman getting the abortion. It is fatal for the embryo or fetus.
What’s more, we’re having trouble delivering on “rare.” Certainly the abortion rate fluctuates a bit now and then but it has pretty much remained at 1.5 million per year.
Why is this? Contraceptives are very easily obtained. In a poll of girls and women getting abortions, something like 12% cited “difficulty obtaining contraceptives” as a reason for the pregnancy. 12% isn’t 0 but it leaves a vast majority for whom this was not an issue.
Sometimes contraceptives fail. Sometimes people don’t use them right. And often people don’t use them at all even though they are readily available.
Much of the problem lies not in education or availability of contraceptives but in failures of willpower, responsibility, and conscientiousness. These failures are at the root not only of the high abortion rate but of many other problems.

What a moment of clarity for the people who heard his speech.
I watched the videos they were fantastic.

I saw this “we’re all in this together” thing, and half-expected Ryan to say, this ain’t High School Musical. But then I’m not sure he has a prepubescent daughter.

So we can walk and chew gum at the same time!
Is there any politician more well known for specializing in economic issures than Congressman Ryan? And yet he doesn’t shy away from the abortion issue.
This is good to know. This is very good to know.

b o has “never lifted a hand” to protect pre-natal children.
That is putting it ‘kindly’.
the obamateur has repeatedly thwarted any attempt to protect new born infants who survive the abortionists first murderous assault on their lives.

Raising a hand to give the ‘thumbs down’ to the abortionist does not qualify as ‘help’ to the pre-natal child.

I really liked Rick Santorum’s speech at this same event, where he admitted that conservatives will never have the smart people on their side. For once, he said something that I can fully agree with.

Yeah, I was too dumb to kill off my offspring.
You rocket scientist types are killing off your own, joan. It’s a shame humans are paying with their lives for your high IQs. Go you.
You won’t be able to stand in front of your Maker though and say the simple-minded didn’t tell you there would be consequences. Because you just read this and now you know.
The last shall be first and the meek shall inherit the earth.

There can only be one plausible explantation: You ms-understood Santorum.

Denise, the problem is sin, plain and simple and, apart from Jesus Christ, one is hopelessly enslaved to.
