Would it be legal to abort this baby?
Click photo to enlarge…
From Parent Society, March 22:
A Greek doctor posted this incredible picture on his Facebook page of a baby he delivered. And as you can see… it was no ordinary delivery.
The baby was delivered via c-section, but was still inside the amniotic sac after being removed from the mother’s body. In fact, according to Dr. Aris Tsigris, the OB/GYN in charge of this delivery, the baby does not even know that it has been born yet.
Most sacs break on their own or are broken by the doctor when a woman is ready to give birth. This is known as a woman’s “water breaking.” It is extremely rare for a baby to be born with the sac still completely intact.
However, although it is rare, it is not dangerous. Dr. Tsigris informs us that the baby will not drown inside the bag because it is feeding off the placenta. The baby will automatically start to breathe on its own once the bag is broken. The doctor admits however that he was left “breathless” by the site of this baby….
The… baby thinks it’s still in the womb and is therefore living as peacefully as when it was in its mother’s uterus.
This baby was still connected to his or her mother by the umbilical cord to the placenta. The baby had not drawn a breath.
Would abortion proponents say it was still ethically/legally acceptable to kill this baby? There are certainly some pro-abortion activists who would argue yes. Had her pregnancy officially terminated? I think they would argue no.
After all, Planned Parenthood lobbyist Alisa LaPolt Snow argued during a Florida legislative hearing last week that born babies who were showing signs of life could still be killed according to the whim of the mother. And the baby in the photo above wasn’t technically yet born.
There is also what is called a hysterotomy abortion, wherein an incision is made into the uterus, such as in a c-section, but either the amniotic fluid is ruptured and the baby is drowned before removal, or the cord is cut and the baby bleeds to death before removal, or the baby is removed alive and discarded or killed outright.
I am sure there are abortion proponents who would argue this baby was still hysterotomy abortion candidate.

this is really, really beautiful.
This picture gave me chills (in a good way). What a sacred moment.
Funny story: When I had my last baby they didn’t break my bag of waters and I was in hard labor. I had an earth shattering contraction and was on my side with my legs drawn up. I couldn’t help but push and the doctor was trying to gown up because the baby was ready to be born any moment. Right then the bag of waters broke and literally splashed the entire birthing suite. It was hysterical. The doctor’s eyes just grew wide and she looked at the nurse and the nurse looked at her.
I’ll never forget that. My husband said he was really worried I was going to shoot the baby out like a cannonball. Ha ha ha. Every time I think on it I laugh.
This was a great write-up. If you follow what Ms. Snow of PP argued to its logical conclusion…well…this baby in the photo is fair game…right? Right?
Blown away.
So absolutely amazing!!
Well its a first for me and I’ve seen more C-sections than I can count.
Amazing it is!
This is truly incredible! No denying that’s a baby right there! Wow.
OH WOW!!! AMAZING!!
Let this be a reminder to value and protect all life fiercely.
However, I still dread doing C-sections! If anything can and will go wrong it will be with a section.
Amazingly, its the truly emergent ones, i.e. prolapsed umbilical cord, that usually go without a hitch, assuming the baby survives of course, which they usually do.
Well, there’s something I’ve never seen before.
Of course it would not be legal to “abort” a born child! The whole question is just sort of pointless since it is impossible to abort a child that has been born. That is called murder, as in murder under the law and not just people’s personal perceptions of murder. It’s an awesome picture and I hope that the mom and baby are doing well.

Have you missed the part where a lot of pro-choice advocates are against medical care for infants born alive after an abortion?
“Of course it would not be legal to “abort” a born child!”
Oh but there are plenty of abortion advocates who would argue this baby is not born since it hasn’t drawn breath and/or is still attached to the mother. Also, as Jack noted, there are plenty more who think that if a mother wants a dead baby, then by God, she has the right to get one.
Who wouldn’t want to clean up, kiss and cuddle that ADORABLE baby?! (Yes, I know not everyone would, sadly.)
This cutie is a sight I will never forget. God does AMAZING things, knitting babies in the womb.

You haven’t been keeping up with the Kermit Gosnell trial, eh? “Abortion is typically performed in utero.” Except when it’s not.
You don’t agree with PP, that when a baby is born alive after a failed abortion it should be up to the mother and abortionist whether the baby gets medical treatment?
Kermitt Gosnell is a criminal. What he did was illegal and not abortion if he was snapping born children’s necks out of the womb. As far as children born with severe medical problems who have a short time to live, I have no problem with not taking extreme measures to save them. If an infant is going to die in 3 months due to some horrible genetic condition, what is wrong with letting them pass with comfort measures for pain control? I think it is cruel to put little children who have conditions that will not allow them to survive through multiple, painful procedures. If a child has something like Trisomy 18 or 13 and are carried to term why not let them die a natural death instead of putting them through painful surgery after painful surgery. I read one story where a child had been subjected to over 40 painful procedures by the age of 5. This was as reported by her mother.
“If an infant is going to die in 3 months due to some horrible genetic condition, what is wrong with letting them pass with comfort measures for pain control?” How do you know they are going to die? How long do they have to live in order to justify treating them? At what arbitrary point do you say the “quality” of life is such that this child lives, but this child should die?
Yes, Tenn, Kermit Gosnell is a criminal. In an industry that rejects any attempts at monitoring, regulation, and oversight. He was permitted to operate that mill precisely because his proabort supporters allowed him to. We of the prolife side are amazed at the lack of media coverage and outrage by abortion princess-feminists. Where are they? Silent, unless someone is standing outside a clinic handing out literature that directs them to a place where killing is not required in order to go on with one’s life.
Zoe Batiansila. My friends’ daughter who lived over a year with Trisomy 13. Her parrents were advised to abort. It wasn’t easy. But the hearts that that little girl was able to touch before she passed number in the thousands. Her pictures are joyful and full of smiles. Her parents miss her dearly. But if they had been given the chance to sidestep all of that and have lived without Zoe?? Not a chance. Zoe means LIFE.

Who are you to judge. I know a man who went through double that amount of surgeries and is now a happy adult. He is certainly glad to have been treated and allowed to live. At the same time, I don’t fault parents who make a decision with their doctors not to pursue extraordinary treatments that merely delay the process of death. But just b/c treatment involves painful surgery doesn’t make it cruel.
Further, it STILL has nothing to do with aborting a child because of abnormality and defects. In the first case you are making difficult medical decisions for your child. In the latter, which is what we’re discussing, you’re executing them.
Of course it would not be legal to “abort” a born child! The whole question is just sort of pointless since it is impossible to abort a child that has been born.
You sure about that?

My dad was given a death sentence with cancer. Doctors said 6 months he lives 2 years. He died at home on hospice . Just because he was suffering should I have shot my dad to put him out of his misery ?
My daughter had leukemia and lived in 2 hospitals for 2 years. Boy did she suffer. Should I have killed her because they didn’t expect her to make it? She’s 21 now and is happy with her life. She’s in school to be a pharmacist and works at Arbys. unfortunately her cancer is back but she told me…Ill be okay mom.
Heather, I love you but you are wrong. Your Dad should not have been killed to ‘put him out of his misery + MORE IMPORTANTLY, OUT OF YOUR (read ‘your’ as ‘someone else’ besides your DAD) MISERY.I am wondering , how will I die? Will my disabilities be too-much for me or for the people who dispatches me and who need justification?
John, I think you misunderstood Heather. She wasn’t saying her dad should have been killed. She was saying the opposite.
Hi John long time no see. Yeah Jacks right. I was going off of what TENN said. Oh and yes poooor me! My burden.
Obama voted to kill babies born alive in botched abortions when he was in the Ill. legislature.
Btw john I hope you are feeling well.
Of course it would be legal to eliminate this “blob of tissue.” A mass of tissue has NO legal protection until the STATE determines it is worthy to exist. Morals? Don’t talk to me about no stinkin’ morals. If it’s legal, it’s moral. If it’s illegal, it’s immoral. Get it? (think about this)
BTW, if Kermit Gosnell was running a legal and approved abortion mill, I’d hate to see an “illegal” one!
Wow, Jill, you never cease to amaze on this site.
What an image.
“If an infant is going to die in 3 months due to some horrible genetic condition, what is wrong with letting them pass with comfort measures for pain control? I think it is cruel to put little children who have conditions that will not allow them to survive through multiple, painful procedures.”
What ‘painful procedures’? By your own words aren’t there “comfort measures for pain control”? I know I could use some of that “comfort” for those examples of misplaced compassion that lead to abortion, euthanasis, and just plain death of conscience.
This Sunday is Divine Mercy Sunday. Praying for all those with misplaced compassion.
Jack and Heather,
I don’t think I misread Heather’s original post. She was being clever and facetious. However, ‘misdirected compassion’ sums things up nicely. the problem still arises ‘just who is being burdened … her Dad … or Heather … or ALL people involved with your Dad.
In my own case, I can see things mighty get a wee bit hairy, so that ‘allowing me to live-on would be … what, compassionate?’
My aunt, who nursed in the 1930’s, said it was common for nurses to ‘forget’ to close a window at night. The open window would cause a draft and the patient would die from pneumonia. I wonder if tricks like this will spell-my-death. Just HOW COMPASSIONATE AM I? Being PL, IS ???? HOW CAN I FORGIVE MYSELF or OTHERS WHEN THEIR COMPASSION IS MISPLACED?
abortion or murder has no excuse, God gives us life and one of his gifts is procreation, to own our own body means respect you and take care, at no time is understood as killing.
children are a blessing.
Say no to murder and not be fooled

As a post abortive mom my heart is to see other women find the hope that I have found. I am praying for you.
John McDonell, may God bless you by surrounding you with truly compassionate people. So that when you become a “burden” to those around you they realize they are being given the cherished gift of the opportunity to serve Jesus through caring for you. I pray you are surrounded by those that are ready and willing to take up that cross and serve you with joy and compassion until the natural end of your life. May they never be tempted to hasten your death, disguising selfishness as compassion.
I have a beloved family member with advanced dementia, completely helpless and dependent on others for all her care. Her life is precious. Her life is beautiful. As was stated in the comments elsewhere on this blog, some would look at her lack of bodily autonomy and her dependence as “the barest existence of human life”. They are wrong.
Thanks very much, Lrning
It is strange though. Scripture says we are ‘wonderfully made’. In a way each of us could ask “What s.o.b. thinks any person like this ‘is wonderfully made’? And yet, the more disabled I get, the shear complexity of all human life becomes forefront. It is perhaps the greatest of all delusions that ‘death solves nor answers anything’. reality, Death is supreme ignorance … NOT good science … much too blunt/no possibilities …
I am not agree with abortion! It’s a crime, many women that does it have lots of conflicts after doing it! To live is a right for all babies, think it well before Carry out or perpetrate a mistake, crime, or immoral act: committing an uncharacteristic error”.
Would you have liked to be killed???
Always pray for these women that commits ABORTION!!!
LIFE IS A BOOMERANG…
ALISA LAPOLT sNOW IS A REAL CRIMINAL THAT INDUCE OTHERS TO DO IT!!!
pOOR IGNORANT WOMAN!!!
