Adoptive parents challenge Democrat over racial remarks
by Carder
I would like for him to ‘man up’….
He’s made the statement. He needs to put his money where his mouth is.
~ Beverly Owings, adoptive white mother of a biracial daughter, challenging, Alabama state Rep. Alvin Holmes (pictured), a Democrat who said that “Republicans would support abortion if their daughters were impregnated by black men, and promised to give $100,000 to anyone who could prove that “a whole bunch of whites,” had adopted black children in the state of Alabama“, via the Daily Caller, April 10
Faces of Families in Alabama facebook page was launched in response to Alvin Holmes’ idiocy comments, in addition to a demonstration in Montgomery, Alabama
Well Alvin,
Looks like you’ll be putting in a lot of overtime.
I am surprised to see a black legislator with such contempt for the lives of black children. His statement sounds eerily similar to those made by abortion advocates who, in their desire to see abortion legalized, played on people’s racial fears and prejudices.

Abortion supporters believe a huge number of lies and falsehoods. I think they may even collect them, on purpose, to brace their support for murder.
Do I need to list a few? (“reality” likes lists)
– Life does not begin at conception
– It’s just a blob of cells
– The relationship of a mother and child is just like that of a host and a parasite
– Children cause poverty
– Abortion is safer than childbirth
– Abortion is only 3% of Planned Parenthoods services.
– etc. etc. etc.
These sorts of insane falsehoods spin around unquestioned in a guy’s head, and the end result is a Black legislator insisting that we have to let Black women kill their children because “mean old whitey” won’t take care of them.

Hi Del,
“mean old whitey” won’t take care of them.
The entire article, and this statement in particular, displays the patronizing, condescending, demeaning, and infantilizing mentality so typical of “enlightened” liberal Democrats.

LOL I hope Alvin has to pay up. That would teach him to be racist and toss blanket condemning statements at his opponents.

He said “a whole bunch of whites,” so more than one woman has to come forward. Can we start an on-line appeal???

I’m way behind the curve on this. Just read the whole thing about the facebook page and more than one woman coming forward. My bad. Have to pay more attention. I blame it all on Friday :)

Alas, a whole bunch is an undefined value. For any number we could find, he could just proclaim that a whole bunch means more than that.

I’m not sure if I mentioned this or not when this guys comments first came up, so I will say it now. I think we have officially found the pro-choice equivalent of Todd Akin.

What a racist thing for Holmes to say!!
Shame on him.

Hi Del,
I should have said that your statement very sell sums up the mentality of “enlightened” liberal Democrats.

I don’t like to bring “Democrats” into the discussion, just because I avoid being a political person. There are the rank-and-file Democrats who are our friends and neighbors…. and then there are the elitists who rule over them and tell them that we are evil Pro-Lifers, Christians and Republicans. There is a vast gulf between the liars and the fools who believe them.
The elitists have to play a strange game — they need their minions to believe the contradictory and false things, but they can’t say those obviously stupid things out loud. “Republicans don’t want to help you” only takes root in the fertile ground of “White people hate you,” and they know it.
Every once in a while, a minion gets elected who still believes what the sheep believe. That is the case of Alvin Holmes.

– Abortion is only 3% of Planned Parenthoods services.
Del, I talked to my brother and he claims to be “anti-abortion,” but he said he supports them because they PREVENT more abortions than they perform. Uh, okay.

Phillymiss…. wow that’s one for the books. Prevent more than they perform? How? By doing “breast exams?”

– Life does not begin at conception – not something I say but it depends on what you classify as ‘life’
– It’s just a blob of cells – I don’t recall saying this either, it isn’t a person though
– The relationship of a mother and child is just like that of a host and a parasite – there are similarities
– Children cause poverty – they can do
– Abortion is safer than childbirth – quite clearly
– Abortion is only 3% of Planned Parenthoods services. – that is correct
– etc. etc. etc. – three etc.’s? Care to expand.
–Prolifers want to force women to birth – well obviously
-Prolifers hate women – nooo! They just hate women not living their lives in the ‘pro-life’ way
-Prolife women are all subjected to forced pregnancy, slavery, and are barefoot in the kitchen and are only prolife because we are afraid of the mens – gee I hope not, although I believe there are a few
-Prolifers are all racist, misogynistic pigs – very few, and those are more misogynists than racists I think
–Babies are better off dead than maybe poor – I don’t think babies hould be killed but abortion can prevent poverty for women and any babies they may otherwise have
-Babies/fetuses (feti?) are only given life at a magical moment in which the mother/host decides that the fetus/child/baby is wanted – that is inaccurate
Prevent more than they perform? How? By doing “breast exams?” – contraceptive services, but you already knew that.

Reality – you are very precise re. the wording you use. So when you say a fetus is not a ‘person’ you are CORRECT, however these are humans whose right-to-life does not begin-at-birth when a legal-person begins as an entity, but at conception. This is not about a ‘person-right’ vs a HUMAN RIGHT. Abortion ends this already existing ‘human’ to be acknowledged as a ‘person’.
Pro-life means pro-life-human not pro-choice – life for some humans and death(for those unwanted humans, & scratch others too). Pro-life does not mean pro-life-person. Surprise, you existed 9 months before you were born (and were named), but the HUMAN RIGHT to LIFE begins when a HUMAN begins … at conception.

‘Human rights’ is a variable construct, on more than one level. Some of you insist on the very product of conception being imbued with any and every ‘human right’ imaginable yet would deny real, living people a simple and unimposing ‘human right’ such as the right to marry. And what of the death penalty? What say ye there?
My kidneys are human, do they have the same ‘human rights’ as you?

JDC be kind enough to me in deciding who is/isn’t a troll! Opposition to a viewpoint allows one to hone their own debating skills. Reality often takes a particularily difficult philosophical viewpoint, that is sometimes hard to refute. Unlike most trolls who stick constantly to stupid slogans, Reality does roam a bit and from-time-to-time does interject himself into the discussions with Jack (as an example).
His thought processes led me to think about the difficulty we all have with vulnerability … how we tend to stamp-it-out // get-rid-of-it // directly-opposes-any-machismo(pride) and how since 9/11 we wish it did not exist. Our reactions (at-times-violent) leads me to suspect that we have a difficult time viewing vulnerability as anything but weakness … watch Dr. Brene Brown on U-tubes TED talks for some insight into this.
Reality never swears and is quite lucid about his opinions …. which (to me) gives him high marks and much deserves to be engaged in conversation. He’s not sold on the so-called-joy that many PL share!

John, while you and I are obviously miles apart on many things and I quite frankly find some of the things you say more odd than wrong (which you may well do of me also), I do thank you for recognising that I make an effort, how I do so and maybe even why. I do relish debates and philosophical discussions (with a bit of fun thrown in at times) and am amused by the one or two who don’t agree with or like my point of view but appear unable or unwilling to make any effort in regards to what I have said.
Cut and paste and argue in sound bites. HA HA – yes, those are what I responded to. After all, the claims made by Del and LibertyBelle were nothing more than a mix of ad hominems and non-factual propaganda slogans. I also used many more words than you cite. But thank you for providing an actual response :-)
I think I’d like to ‘meet’ “Mary Kay”, sounds like someone who could be engaging.

I wouldn’t say Reality is a troll. Trolls like to “hit and run,” that is post something outrageous or upsetting to get people all riled up. Then they go back under their bridges and wait for the comments. Reality doesn’t do this and even though I don’t agree with him, his arguments are (usually) well presented.

Black people should not depend on whites to adopt our children, we should take care of our own. I always hear about white celebrities adopting black children but the only black celebrities I have heard of doing so are Viola Davis and producer Shonda Rimes.
