Pro-life vid of day: Stand for religious freedom
by Hans Johnson
The Houston Equal Rights Ordinance (HERO) was passed by the city council in June, which would allow men and women to use any gender of public restroom with which they most identify. (Men could use women’s restrooms and vice versa.) It sparked a petition by opponents, who gathered over 50,000 signatures to force a referendum – three times what was required. But the petition was rejected, citing “irregularities”.
After a lawsuit was filed in August, the city targeted five area pastors (who were NOT involved in the suit) and demanded “all speeches, presentations, or sermons related to HERO, the Petition, Mayor Annise Parker, homosexuality, or gender identity prepared by, delivered by, revised by, or approved by you or in your possession.”
Said Christiana Holcomb, an attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom, which is representing the pastors:
The city’s subpoena of sermons and other pastoral communications is both needless and unprecedented. The city council and its attorneys are engaging in an inquisition designed to stifle any critique of its actions. Political and social commentary is not a crime; it is protected by the First Amendment.
This Sunday, November 2, Family Research Council is hosting I Stand Sunday at Grace Community Church in Houston, to be broadcast over the internet. Among the speakers will be the five pastors, former Governor Mike Huckabee, and Fox News’ Todd Starnes, whose reporting brought much attention to the case.

Michelle Obama declaring that we ought to be talking about politics in church:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-pt81o-9KU
Of course, that refers to Black churches. We liberals hate Christianity, except when we are courting the Black vote, and selecting high-level candidates.
Who says shaming doesn’t work? It sure did the job on Her Honor the Mayor. And let’s hear it for social media, without which this story would be a half-column sidebar in the back half of Time magazine.
I was scanning the news for Wendy Davis polling, and this pops up: here is WD pandering to those superstitious, religious Negroes in the ways they just love: Christianity.
Thank God for that Uncle Tom novel to let us elitist liberals know how to strike a chord with those, lovable, child-like Negroes:

“I know that God gave me that blessing of struggles so that one day I could be a voice for people across this state,” Davis told congregants at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. “We have so much to do.”
Wow, Wendy – will we see an ol’ fashion tent revival before the election is over?
So Wendy reminded worshipers of the “long odds” she overcame in her own life. It sure helps the “long odds” to find a man who is such a sucker for a pretty face.
windy has had quite a bit of cosmetic surgery done in an attempt to make her self a more marketable political commodity.
.
In reviewing the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos I noted that windy has had that wart on the left side of her face since at least her law school days.
.
windy named her child before she rejected her, but chose to keep her wart.
.
I wonder if windy named the wart to which she is so firmly attached.
Ken, Wart are you trying to say?
Before the Civil War slave owners held ‘slave breeders’ in contempt.
.
On todays progressive democRAT plantation the Planned Parenthood is still in the business of breeding slaves though they have no particular preference when it comes to the race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or political party of their victims.
.
Killing a black, brown, white or yellow baby is equally profitable to the dead babies r us mob.
“I know that God gave me that blessing of struggles so that one day I could be a voice for people across this state”
Hopefully to bring you to the place where you can be a voice for the unborn people in this state Wendy.
“It sure helps the “long odds” to find a man who is such a sucker for a pretty face.”
.
Just ask the former Gloria Rachel Bloom, aka Gloriously Allredd. She is still exploiting the name of her former husband, William Alred, whom she divorced in 1987 AFTER she had completed the law school education for which William paid.
.
The single largest voting blocks for the winner in the last two presidential elections was women.
.
Though blacks of both genders voted overwhelmingly for the boRAT in both elections, if they had all voted for either McCain or Romney it would not have changed the outcome in either election.
.
That is why the democRATs can’t stop promoting the false rumor of a republican war on women.
.
Gotta keep the slaves on the liberal plantation.
missy windy davis is a democRAT wart on women.
Ah, the American Christian and our issues.
Our brothers and sisters in Christ in other countries have their churches burned down, pastors murdered, and brothers and sister slain.
In this country, we do have a new set of Jim Crow type laws ripping apart families – we have massive wealth inequality that finds booters paying of college football coaches $3 million houses, yet millions without food on a regular basis – and we have way too many people still deciding between medicine or food…
…but we got to watch out for ‘the gays’ – they are ruining this country, right!
No wonder young people are running away from the Church as fast as they can. And we’re pushing them as they run.
Ex-RINO, what about the churches with congregations of “Christians” who voted for Obama even though he held fund-raisers to keep it legal for abortionists to deliver babies to the shoulders and reach in and stab them in the skull with a scissors so they can stick a vaccuum up the womens vagina and into the skull of the baby to suck the baby’s brains out in order to make sure and deliver the baby dead. That is a blight on Christianity far greater and deeper than anything the subject of homosexuality could do to chase the youth out of the churches in droves.
And where did you get off bringing up homosexuality on tis thread to begin with…oh yeah, you are a troll who uses strawmen to derail threads.
truth – because this thread is about transgendered people – and transgendered folks are typically used in the same sentence as homosexuals by the Church. Plus, the thread mentions homosexuals.
Your first post is about Christians who you perceive to support certain things – that has nothing to do with the persecuted church. I think you should look up global issues and Christians for more background so you can speak in relevance to the conversation.
Oh wait now Ex-RINO, are you saying that homosexual men in Houston will start using the women’s restrooms because they are more comfortable naked around women?
truth
I know you really, really enjoy talking about sexual acts – but I’m not going there. You’ll have to have that conversation with others.
I’ve made my point and am sticking to it.
Why would homosexual men want to use the women’s restrooms? They’re men, not women. Maybe those who are scared of homosexuals would want to use the women’s restrooms because they are more comfortable naked around women.
LOLLLL Reality,
I always give credit where its due. Point taken.
Oh well, you know what truthseeker’s like when it comes to these things :-)
I just can’t imagine what there would be in a woman’s restroom that would be of any interest to a gay man. Certainly not the women.
“I just can’t imagine what there would be in a woman’s restroom that would be of any interest to a gay man.”
.
Mary,
.
After 31 year of marriage and being the father of four daughters and one son, I have observed that females tend to be quite a bit more fastidious than males. Perhaps male homosexuals have reached the same conclusion.
.
I don’t care what the gender or the sexual orientaton of the person is who uses the restroom before me. I can even get over them not flushing the toilet after they have relieved themselves. I just want them be like dad and not like sis and lift the lid before they urinate.
.
I will never forget the time I was at the Texas Ball Room in Dallas for a Willy Nelson concert. I went to the toilet to relieve myself of some Lone Star Beer and I noticed there was a really long line of gals waiting to get into the ladies room. There was no wait for the mens room. As I was standing at the urinal I heard the door of the stall behind me open and I heard a feminine voice and I turned my head just in time to see a young lady come out and exit the MEN’s restroom and she weren’t the only one.
.
No HERO law needed. No subpoenas were issued. No news crews showed up. Not satelite trucks. No one got harrassed, mugged, robbed, raped or killed, but there was a shortage of toilet paper and azz gaskets in the men’s room that evening.
Just watched the video.
.
One women, two hispanics, one asian and two caucasian pastors were subpoenaed.
.
How odd that no black pastor or homosexual pastor receieved a subpoena demanding the content of their comments about the HERO ordinace.
.
Wouldn’t want to risk offending the democRAT base, would we?
Hi Ken,
LOLLLL. What an amusing post. Thank you.
Hey, ya gotta go, ya gotta go. I suppose the ladies using the men’s restroom means some poor cleaning staffer didn’t have to haul out the bucket and mop.
Who knows? Maybe they were all lesbians. We all know how badly they want to use men’s bathrooms. :)
Hi Ken,
I would love to see that mayor display a real set of cojones and subpoena the sermons of Muslim clerics.
