Obama loves nun who helped with passage of Obamacare
Well, I don’t know whether this is appropriate, but I just told Sister Carol I love her. On a big stage.
It is true, though, I do. She is just wonderful. Her dedication to doing God’s work here on Earth, her commitment to serving ‘the least of these,’ her steadiness, her strength, her steadfast voice have been an inspiration to me.
We would not have gotten the Affordable Care Act done had it not been for her. I want to thank the entire Catholic Health Association for the incredible work you do.
And it’s true, I just love nuns, generally. I’m just saying.
~ President Barack Obama praising Sister Carol Keehan, president of the Catholic Hospital Assocation, at the Catholic Health Association Conference, CNS News, June 10
No Sister he does not “love” you. He used you. He’s a master manipulator who will have you thinking you were some great force and inspiration when you were just doing his bidding all along.
Its how sociopaths work Sister, and he’s second to none.

Its sad, but true. … And then he went to play golf on the new golf course he just had put in behind he white house.
I’m sure she is also in favor of this ‘anti-discrimination’ law the supreme court is likely passing, which will shut ACTUAL catholic charities down…via religious discrimination. you know, those crazy guys willing to stand up for religious freedom.
You can’t have it both ways. You are either a Catholic Nun, or… working for the other guy. What does the bible say? You can’t serve two masters?

“I don’t know whether this is appropriate”
Why would anyone point out to an audience that telling somebody you love them or love what they have done is possibly inappropriate…unless the idea was to draw attention to the possibility of a double entendre. Just to be witty? Suggesting what? That a religious sister, who doesn’t have sex, being told on a big stage by a big man that she is loved is some kind of special thrill? That a religious life is one deprived of love…so here’s a little sugar? Yeah, that’s inappropriate…and wrong to the point of silly.

Everyone expects a politician to pander and glad-hand and whatnot…but a double entendre or sexual innuendo…they are for flirting…like in a bar…letting the other one know you are available and interested for whatever.
Even as a gag…flirting with a religious sister or a priest is never appropriate …it’s like flirting with a married person right in front of their spouse.
One would hope to expect better from the President of the United States.

Sister just got played.
In the words of the wise Miss Taylor Swift:
“And the playas gonna play play play play play play.”

Hi Tommy R,
I think you’re reading too much into it. I think its no more than what I said. Obama playing Sister along as he always has and the dear lady truly thinking she played an important role that is appreciated by so fine and great a man as our beloved leader.

My observation was his oafish unseemly way of giving out “compliments” to a religious sister. Perhaps I’m just sensitive. Perhaps I still cling to a higher view of the presidency.
Yes, Obama is pandering and making Sister Carol feel like a big deal and all. She might have had some influence in giving him political cover. I’m sure he loves that, but probably considers her nothing but a convenient pawn (and probably wacky). In that sense she got played.
However, she was not naive about the nature of Obamacare. I think she agrees with the whole of it…probably thinks it doesn’t go far enough. In that sense she was a willing collaborator.

I have no doubt that Sister had only the most noble intentions and was motivated by her deeply held convictions. Just what a sociopath would see and play for everything he can.

Sociopaths are at good manipulating others for their own purposes.
All good politicians build coalitions to get power and pass legislation.
But not all successful politicians are sociopaths.
Obama is smooth operator in the art of politics, but a dork in respect to religion.
This is an example.

which will shut ACTUAL catholic charities down…via religious discrimination – the only way that might happen is if the charities perpetrate religious discrimination.

Obama’s a total dork in regards to religion. What I can’t stand is many Sisters do actually think abortion is a benefit. It deffinitley deters faithful women from going into the religious life.

Hey Fantasy, missed you, kid!
I have to correct you on one thing tho…
“the only way that might happen is if the charities perpetrate religious discrimination.”
I think you mean *sexual* discrimination. You mean to tell me that the only way they will shut down Catholic charities, which they have done, is if the Catholic charities discrimnate against homosexuals… which is not the same as religious discrimination.
I supposed if you have made advocating for homosexuals your religion it makes sense some how, but that’s not actually a religious belief. Its a lifestyle choice.
If a woman trusts a charity to help her find an adoptive parenting couple for her child, then AWESOME, and all others including the the government should MYOB.

It is nice that Obama loves religious sisters. Let’s face it… We all do. Persons who have had contact with even a few Sisters often find that the moments are memorable and the relationships can be life-changing.
Sure, Obama “loves” religious Sisters. But he has never been inspired by one.
Catholic Americans wish that Obama would respect our bishops, who really do speak for us.
Sister Carol administrates an association of hospitals, and that is all that she is entitled to speak for. The silly Nuns on the Bus represented…. well, a few silly old ladies on a silly bus. And yet Sister Campbell got a prime-time TV spot during the Democratic Convention for her defiant position against Catholics in America.

He definitely doesn’t “love” the Little Sisters of the Poor. (Still being harassed by the HHS mandate, last I heard).
Guy is a 100% shameless hypocrite and liar.

Obama should not be an invited guest at any Catholic function.

Tommy R,
I’m well aware that not all politicians are sociopaths.
IMO, Obama was highly successful at manipulating people…and is unsuccessful as a politician. He was a Chicago nobody elevated to Messianic status by a mesmerized populace. He got Obamacare passed by lying and manipulating.

Am I surprised a dear lady like Sister Carol is completely taken in by Obama? Not for a minute.

Hi Lori Pieper,
Excellent point about The Little Sisters of the Poor.

Mary, I think it is fair to distinguish between Obama’s considerable, although dirty, political skills (as evidenced by the passage of obamacare and defeating Hillary, McCain and Romney) and his shaky stature as a statesman (as evidenced by his diplomatic failures, abhorrent views of life and general lack of world respect).
Even a lousy statesman like Obama can possess great political skill.

Hi Tommy R,
I think we will just have to agree to disagree on this point.

I just came back from a trip to England, where I discovered that Obama is very popular.
I asked several people to explain why they like Obama. No one could give a single reason… not one policy, or diplomatic act, or even a nice line to quote. No one mentioned his Nobel Peace Prize. Simply this: the media paint Obama as a likable character — always smiling and bright, and so that is their impression of him. Obama doesn’t frown all the time… like George Bush did.

Although your confusion over who you think you’re responding to raises questions about the value of providing you with information Angles, I’ll do so anyway.
I think you mean *sexual* discrimination. – it’s discrimination based on religion.
You mean to tell me that the only way they will shut down Catholic charities, which they have done, is if the Catholic charities discrimnate against homosexuals… which is not the same as religious discrimination. – “they” haven’t shut down catholic charities, the catholic charities have shut themselves down.
I supposed if you have made advocating for homosexuals your religion it makes sense some how, – was advocating for racial equality a religion? How about equal rights for women?
but that’s not actually a religious belief. – you are correct.
Its a lifestyle choice. – is your heterosexuality a ‘lifestyle choice’? Or were you born that way? Your faith is certainly a lifestyle choice.
If a woman trusts a charity to help her find an adoptive parenting couple for her child, then AWESOME, and all others including the the government should MYOB. – why? So people like you can dictate and discriminate unjustifiably?
Obama should not be an invited guest at any Catholic function – he should attend religious functions of all stripes or none.

And if she doesn’t, or she doesn’t want to remain pregnant, then all others including the government should mind their own business.

I find it ironic that the only nuns I have ever admired are the ones in full habit who are happy and unabashedly proud to spread the Good News and are faithful to the Catholic Church. These “fake” nuns are getting what they want–attention. They say they are good Catholics but one of their leaders, Joan Chittister (I refuse to call her “sister”) says she is not necessarily ‘for’ abortion. She just isn’t ‘against’ it.

Maybe all she needs is a relaxing girls night out, Vicki. Sometimes it’s nice to get together with gal pals and do hair and nails. You could then gently suggest that she might be happier getting down from the fence. Just make sure you don’t run your fingers through her hair without her permission first!
