ridiculous “economics” study funded by proponents of killing embryos only estimated something like 400 biotech jobs and 300 additional jobs.
Also, the $10 million fine and 10 years in jail is the maximum punishment for human cloning not killing human embryos for research. The Detroit News and Free Press constantly get this wrong because they’re just parroting a talking point of proponents of killing human embryos for research and haven’t ever actually taken the time to read MI’s law.

My question – Where did he get the money for this trip? Nether I, nor any one of my children would have had money for a trip like this when they where in college. Rezko, was named ‘Entrepreneur of the Decade’ by the Arab-American Business and Professional Association’. About two years later, Obama entered Harvard Law School . Do you have any idea what tuition is for Harvard Law School ? Where did he get the money for Law School ? More student loans? After Law school, he went back to Chicago . Rezko offered him a job, which he turned down. But, he did take a job with Davis, Miner, Barnhill &Galland. Guess what? They represented ‘Rezar’ which is Rezko’s firm. Rezko was one of Obama’s first major financial contributors when he ran for office in Chicago . In 2003, Rezko threw an early fundraiser for Obama which Chicago Tribune reporter David Mendelland claims was instrumental in providing Obama with ‘seed money’ for his U.S. Senate race. In 2005, Obama purchased a new home in Kenwoood District of Chicago for $1.65 million (less than asking price). With ALL 20 those Student Loans – Where did he get the money for the property? On the same day Rezko’s wife, Rita, purchased the adjoining empty lot for full price. The London Times reported that Nadhmi Auchi, an Iraqi-born Billionaire loaned Rezko $3.5 million three weeks before Obama’s new home was purchased. Obama met Nadhmi Auchi many times with Rezko.
Now, we have Obama running for President. Valerie Jarrett, was Michele Obama’s boss. She is now Obama’s chief advisor and he does not make any major decisions without talking to her first. Where was Jarrett born? Ready for this? Shiraz , Iran ! Do we see a pattern here? Or am I going crazy?
On May 10, 2008 The Times reported, Robert Malley, advisor to Obama, was ‘sacked’ after the press found out he was having regular contacts with ‘Hamas’, which controls Gaza and is connected with Iran . This past week, buried in the back part of the papers, Iraqi newspapers reported that during Obama’s visit to Iraq, he asked their leaders to do nothing about the war until after he is elected, and he will ‘Take care of things’.
Oh, and by the way, remember the college roommates that where born in Pakistan ? They are in charge of all those ‘small’ Internet campaign contributions for Obama. Where is that money coming from? The poor and middle class in this country? Or could it be from the Middle East ?
And the final bit of news. On September 7, 2008, The Washington Times posted a verbal slip that was made on ‘This Week’ with George Stephanapoulos. Obama on talking about his religion said, ‘My Muslim faith’. When questioned, ‘he made a mistake’. Some mistake!

I have to say I am a bit surprised that in three debates the abortion issue has not come up once.
Of course, the Communist News Network and other “mainstream media” are doing everything they can to portray Nobama as a moderate. Nobama has all but been annointed by the talking heads as the next President.
I quit listening to Wolf Blitzer from the Communist News Network when he talked about McCain having “lost” as though the election was already over.
So it’s probably safe to assume the abortion debate will not come up in the last debate, because I do believe if Americans really knew Nobama’s voting record and how he even voted against BAIP most would be appalled. And I am quite certain McCain would mention it. But he cant if the subject does not come up.
Shame on these talking heads who are throwing their integrity away all in the name of getting Nobama elected.

According to STATSIndiana, In 2007, Indianapolis/Marion County had an estimated population of 876,804. Of that number 232,607 were below 18 years of age, for a total of 644,197 people in Marion County/Indianapolis 18 or over and thus eligible to vote. (Indiana allows felons to vote as long as they are not incarcerated).
So we have 644,197 people eligible to be registered in Marion County/Indianapolis, and 677,401 people registered. Congratulations go to Indianapolis for having 105% of its residents registered!
Across the nation voter registration irregularities are coming to light. Many of these irregularities involving the former employer, ACORN, of one of our Presidential candidates, Barack Obama. Now it comes to light that Obama’s campaign has paid ACORN over $800,000 for “get out the vote” efforts so far this campaign season.

@Bobby: It’s funny because what they screwed up on was ADULT STEM CELLS…they were trying to prove that adult stem cells were just as good to work on as embryonic stem cells because of the controversy surrounding embryonic stem cells.
From what I gathered from the article, Dr. Reyes stated that the conclusions of the research were not altered by the digital images in question, and that the research has been reproduced successfully by other scientists.
There are definite advancements being made with adult stem cells as opposed to embryonic stem cells.

Voter fraud occurs because some people are stupid and the low-level employees hired to register people are expected to register a certain amount of people per day. It is very easy for people to simply write down names and go to lunch. But luckily, ACORN has people who do the check in their office, and then they submit them to the election board, who catches anything they miss. Those that commit fraud are obviously fired and turned in. Stuff like this happens in every organization doing the same things- ACORN is just easy to target because Obama used to work for them.
@Jasper: I prefer they mess with mouse embryonic stem cells first until they are absolutely certain that embryonic stem cells hold the promise they think they do. Once that is shown- I will have no problem with it if they were to use leftover embryos from IVF clinics.
Of course- I also fully support all the research possible on adult stem cells (human ones) as well.
I should correct- it’s voter registration fraud. It’s not the same kind of animal that typical voter fraud is.

Way to go, HisMan–terrific research! It seems the more we come up with in terms of Obama’s past (and present) associations and his questionable judgment, the more Obama supporters are left grasping for anything that can change the subject.
Case in point: Obama’s association with Ayers. The MSM and other Obama supporters want to criticize even the mention of it, suggesting among other things “racial” motives. How dare anyone question these things! The annointed one is beyond reproach!
By comparison, imagine the howls of indignation if it was revealed that McCain and/or Palin were buddies with an unrepentant abortion clinic bomber. Keith Olbermann and Katie Couric would probably have to be resuscitated by paramedics. Or what if it were the repubs who were cozy with ACORN and were their primary beneficiaries? Would our friends here be as understanding and dismisssive of the whole affair if this were the case? Of course not.

Liz, there is no good reason for a pro-life person to vote for Obama. NONE. Any “pro-lifer” who is voting for Obama is a complete fraud.
That said, I sure hope that a Culture of Life question is asked at the final presidential debate. The world needs to hear that Barack Obama voted for infanticide four times. Though I doubt McCain would actually say that, even if it is 100% true.

I have a bit of hope the question may come up, only because the final moderator is Bob Schieffer, so we shall see.
And although I’m sure McCain would not use the word “infanticide” I believe he would let voters know he is the most pro abortion candidate the Democrats have ever had. And he may mention even Boxer and Clinton supported the federal version of BAIPA that Nobama opposed in his own state.

Obama understands EVERYTHING more than John “gumpy” McCain.
He certainly understands politics better, the economy better, foreign policy better.
I wish someone would ask Palin or McCain which “preconditions” they’re so fired up about.
For a group of people who are so concerned with the preservation of life I don’t seem to see any comments expressing compassion or advocacy for the millions of people around the world that are dying needlessly everyday due to starvation and illnesses that can easily be cured.
Did anyone see the interview Hannity did with McCain and Palin?

Carla, that is because the liberal Democrats believe that the proper way to handle charity is for the government to take your money and redistribute it to those organizations, people, and foreign counties they feel deserve it. Couldn’t possibly trust the people with decisions like that, they’d probably waste their money on places like crisis pregnancy centers instead of PP!
This is demonstrated by such patriotic givers as Joe and Jill Biden who, according to the tax returns posted on the Obama website, in 2007 claimed income of nearly $320,000 but gave to charity a mere $995, 0.3 percent of that income (but hey, this was a big charity year for them… normally they only give $120-$380 annually!)
Obama gave a much heftier amount… $240,000… impressive until you realize that it is only 5.7 percent of their 4.2 million dollar income for that year. (Because of course, the Obamas are your average middle class couple!)
McCain, on the other hand, gave 26% of his 2007 income to charity… $105,467 out of his $405,409 income. That includes neither Cindy’s income, nor her charitable donations… which, let’s remember, don’t just involve writing a check, this woman has actually worked among and for the poorest of the world performing needed health services.
GO OBAMA!!! If you all need to do something is defend Mcain– his policy stinks and he never answers questions because he can’t! Not to mention that Mcain is not going to do crap for abortion… he will just leave it alone and then cut more funds and creat a bigger world for high marketing companies… Get real. This blog is not intellectual… Why don’t you talk about how great Mcain is? I know why.. You can’t because he sucks!
One last thing… Do you have any idea how much health care costs? Good Lord! For the record, I wouldn’t go as far as David Brooks did in calling Sarah Palin a “fatal cancer to the Republican Party.” Besides being unfair to her, that seems a bit rich from someone who cheered on almost every single misguided and terrible policy of the Bush administration, which has been the metastasizing cancer in the Republican body for years. However, I do not understand the idea that there has been no conservative critique of her record. I have said on more than one occasion that I assumed conservatives did not approve of windfall profits taxes, net increases in spending or leaving behind enormous amounts of debt. If that has changed for the sake of this one campaign and candidate, I did not get the memo from the Central Committee that so many others seem to have received.
Palin supported tax increases on oil companies, which ultimately impose costs on consumers, so that she can give away more money in Alaska and buy her extraordinarily high levels of support. While I do not consider earmarks to be the grave evil that the McCain/Palin ticket claim them to be, Alaska under Palin remains the leading recipient of per capita federal earmark funding. She embraced the bridge boondoggle until it became politically radioactive, and now she pretends that she was its mortal foe. She left Wasilla under a mountain of debt, and also bungled the management of purchasing the land where the athletic facility was to be built so badly that it has imposed additional costs on Wasilla. Spending has skyrocketed under her administration. Now for good measure she has demonstrated a woeful lack of understanding of many major national and international issues, which drives home how unprepared she is, but would anyone on the right honestly look at her record as an executive before this and say, “Yes, this is the sort of thing I want to see at the federal level”? If conservatives don’t care about this, I suppose that’s their business, but can we stop pretending that this critique is based purely on whether or not she has done well in a couple of interviews? Whether judged “superficially” or on substance, there is not much there that conservatives can find that is very encouraging.
Her critics have been studying the details of her record for over a month. Have her supporters made anything like the same kind of effort, or are they, like Obama fans, simply caught up in the enthusiasm?

The Columbus Dispatch has an article on a case where Planned Parenthood failed to notify the parents of a 14-year-old girl who had an abortion. PP also failed to report statutory rape to the authorities. The girl’s parents are now suing PP, and a portion of the lawsuit will be argued at the OH Supreme Court…
So Planned Parenthood twice wronged the girl. In the first instance, they condoned violence to her. In the second instance, they actually committed it. They also violated the authority of the parents. And, of course, they also violated the grandchild; they killed it.
How does a girl come to the place where she so completely trusts complete strangers? But how did she arrive in such a place where rape could take place? Her parents seem to have been less than perfect. But one wonders at the complicity of the public school system, which often undermines the care of responsible parents. Was she perhaps taught about “reproductive rights” and “sex education”?
If we’re going to talk about anchors and necks, then I want to make the allusion explicit:

Yes, Bush Jr. has made it tough on McCain, and Obama is not a “perfect” candidate (if there even was such a thing).
The base certainly was in doubt as to voting for Mr. McCain. The evangelicals were certainly not going to vote for Mr. Obama; they were just so apathetic they might not have voted at all. Or they might have voted for a third-party candidate. Malaise in the base is a serious problem. Mr. Obama helped to solve the problem somewhat; if I remember correctly, he helped to convert Mr. Dobson to Mr. McCain’s cause. Of course, Mrs. Palin was the clincher.
As for Mr. Obama, Mr. Hitler was not a perfect candidate, either. I hope Mr. Obama is better than Mr. Hitler, but knowing Mr. Obama’s pro-abortion record, I’m not so sure.

Baloney yourself, Doug. My Google search engine (the Canadian version, I suppose) urges me to vote today. My present situation makes voting difficult, and so I won’t be voting–though I could. I won’t be making the extra effort to vote because I’m apathetic about the Conservative party and what they stand for. If you’ve read some other threads, you’ll know that Patricia or Joanne or perhaps both are also refusing to vote. Mr. Harper doesn’t care about this part of his base–he thinks he has them anyway–and probably he’s right. They’re not an influential group, and Mr. Harper’s a pretty good gambler. In the past, I’ve often voted for the Christian Heritage Party, a fringe party (Joanne plans to vote for them, I think) and so “wasted” my vote.
In the United States, I’d be called an evangelical. Some Americans regard the evangelicals as an important component of the Republican base.
Jon, in the US, (as I said) the conservative “base” voting for McCain was never in doubt.
