Rockford lawsuit for failure to protect pro-lifers

I posted photos April 4 of hanging rubber chickens and such at the very creepy Northern Illinois Women’s Center abortion mill in Rockford, IL.

I said I would blog on a lawsuit pro-lifers have filed when they were able to post a video substantiating their case. That day has come.

Pro-lifers are suing the City of Rockford for removing their pro-life message from a bus bench and also for failing to protect them as they protested at NIWC. Also included in the suit are Wayne Webster, the building’s owner, and a neighbor, Keith Sterkeson.

Here is video of Sterkeson repeatedly calling a pro-lifer the n-word, throwing in the f-bomb for good measure. He also bizarrely yells kudos to an admitted “mom” for aborting, adding, “You’re doing the right thing, and God will honor you!” as if that comment would bring her comfort?

Here’s a photo Sterkeson pretending to take aim at pro-lifers during the same incident…
creep jpg2.jpg
Go here to see a longer version of this video, but be warned Sterkeson’s language is BAD. About 2/3 of the way through, Webster comes on the loudspeaker to say he’s been listening to the police scanner and knows pro-lifers have called the police, causing Sterkeson to vamoose.

Here’s a photo of the loudspeaker, usually reserved to blare music to drown out pro-lifers who are calling to moms entering the clinic to abort:
loudspeaker.jpg
Finally, if you weren’t yet convinced these people are crazy, here is a photo of horse dung Webster put on his property line next to the sidewalk to aggravate pro-lifers (click to enlarge):
Horse Dung (2).jpg
And here is a photo of Webster traipsing outside the mill one day in costume, demented but appropriate:
devil.jpg
This stuff is wilder than fiction.

UPDATE, 3p: Just received an email from pro-life attorney Tom Brejcha of the Thomas More Society, handling the pro-life lawsuit:

Jill, the tank truck behind Webster in the photo showing him dressed up in the devil costume is filled with sewage, which Webster threatened to spray on the pro-life protesters. Keep in mind that this purports to be a “health facility” where doctors and nurses care for the physical well being of their patients — protected by horse dung and sewage.

  • Saynsumthn’s Blog is also covering the story out of Rockford, Illinois, which reveals that “some Rockford Police officers are refusing to work in the former death mill which city leaders are considering using as a police station.”

ChapStick

  • At Bound4Life, Stacie Kuhns reveals the fact that abortion is available to 11-year-olds in most states… but Chapstick? Now, that’s another story:

The assistant superintendent of administration for Augusta County Public Schools informed reporters that Chapstick is considered an over-the-counter medication by the school board. In Augusta County Public Schools, Chapstick may only be administered by a school nurse and only if a physician has prescribed its use.

When viewed without a national context, this may seem like a somewhat silly story about bureaucracy gone too far. However, it is outrageous and infuriating when you consider that a child may need a physician’s note to apply Chapstick — but, in 26 states and Washington, D.C., teenagers and pre-teens don’t even need parental permission to obtain an abortion.

  • Big Blue Wave quotes a NYMag.com article which recounts the work of an abortion doula. It is interesting that the doula has to distract herself from the child, reminding herself that it is the woman’s future aspirations that really matter to her:

The fetus comes out easily; they put it in the bucket and shove it near me. It is fully intact, curled on its left side, fists closed, knees bent up. He sleeps just like you, I think. Then, a second thought, an act of distancing: He looks more like an alien than a person. I have, by this point, seen lots of women and lots of fetuses, and the sight of the second doesn’t change my feelings about the first. The mourning for what could have been is countered by an appreciation for what is — a woman’s life, allowed to proceed as she wants it to.

  • Live Action News features an interview with Dave Sterrett of OnlineForLife.org regarding the do’s and don’ts of sidewalk counseling, in light of the Supreme Court’s recent ruling “striking down an anti-sidewalk counseling buffer zone law enacted in Massachusetts in 2007”:

It’s encouraging to read that the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court acknowledges that sidewalk counselors are focused on compassionate interaction with those entering abortion clinics. Unfortunately, many Americans still base their opinions of sidewalk counselors on what is reported by the liberal media. According to this portrayal, pro-life activists — specifically sidewalk counselors — are often perceived as antagonistic, incendiary, and confrontational.

  • Abolish Human Abortion has a thought provoking post and graphic (pictured right) regarding the sin of silence and inaction:

Count the cost of your fear. Who are you afraid of? Will you invest what the Lord has given you? Will you hear on that last day “Well done, my good and faithful servant?”

  • At Ethika Politika, Alana Newman says “we don’t need more sexual education, we need more virtues education” to solve many of the life issues our society is facing:

All of the virtues play into our fertility or marriageability. And if virtues and trustworthiness are too slow to develop, we may miss out on our natural fertility window. If a certain amount of virtues education is not observed after the wedding day there will be more divorces — which I’ve come to understand increases the use of egg donors and surrogates as divorced women in their 40s and 50s seek to remarry and bond their new relationship with a child, or remedy loneliness as single mothers by choice.

… It’s not enough to slap hands and bemoan the use of IVF and sold gametes or wombs….

For our fertility and flourishing too we must confront our rotten roots, the root of evil, our fallen selves. If you hate abortion, and trends of surrogacy and third party reproduction, then give glory and attention to the established virtues. Teach the people in your life about moral truths — for your sake and the sake of a coming generation.

  • Abstinence Clearinghouse features a three-minute video of a “talented young lady [who] exposes abortion for what is really is through a… spoken word performance.” Unfortunately (and unsurprisingly), the “pro-choice” comments for this YouTube video are vitriolic and laced with obscenities. Just par for the course with many hardcore abortion supporters:

Police officers oppose converting former abortion clinic into police station

rockford-abortion-3-hanging-rubber-chickenPolice officers in Rockford, Illinois, are balking at the suggestion that a police station inhabit the building where a notorious abortion clinic was once located. Per WIFR.com, September 12:

Some Rockford Police officers are refusing to work in one of the buildings city leaders are considering using as a police station. The city wants the old Turner School on Broadway to be the new District Two headquarters.

“A number of people have an objection to the Turner School building because of what it represents and they have some serious moral objections to being in that building,” PBPA Union President Terry Peterson, said….

“That was definitely an issue that came up and it came up overwhelmingly,” Peterson said.

Peterson says he’s heard from more than a dozen officers who say they won’t work in that building because it used to be an abortion clinic.

“You know that’s ridiculous, it’s for the community. You’ve got to do what’s good for the area,” Bobby Dahlberg, owner of Bobby’s on Broadway, said….

“This police station is a win-win situation, you know. Jesus Christ himself can forgive anything right, so let’s go forward, not backwards,” Dahlberg said….

women's center montage-thumb-500x508The abortion clinic under consideration isn’t just any abortion clinic. It’s the infamous Northern Illinois Women’s Center, where the former owner once hung a rubber chicken by a noose in one window (photo above right), and a rubber chicken on a cross and blasphemous signs in others (photo right).

Deathscorts were known to cheer and do a happy dance when mothers drove in for abortions, and several times owner Wayne Webster put horse manure next to the public sidewalk to dissuade pro-life protesters and once traipsed around outside in a devil costume…

devil-thumb-500x749

After being closed in September 2011 by the Illinois Department of Public Health for health violations, Webster voluntarily shut down in January 2012 after 40 years of killing children… 40 years….

AR-301139875

The building has stood vacant since then.

I am of the belief that all abortion mills are satanic and inhabited by demons. Even when they’re closed and converted for good… even when “every nook and cranny of the place” has been exorcised… I don’t know… I still have trouble. That’s just me.

That said, there are demonic abortion clinics, and there are demonic abortion clinics on steroids. Three I recall making me want to jump out of my skin when I visited them were Gosnell’s clinic in PhiladelphiaLeRoy Carhart’s clinic in Nebraska, and this one.

I’m with the police. No way would I work in that place. And what of citizens who would also be forced to go there? Not just Christians and pro-lifers but others, as prolifecorner.com pointed out:

It is unjust to expect people who live in the Broadway neighborhood to go to a building for help where their own children may have been brutally and viciously killed in by abortion.

It is cruel and unusual punishment to force people who may be arrested to be taken and held in a building that may have been used to kill their own children.

Kevin Rilott of Rockford Pro-Life Initiative told me his group was contacted by both the police department and an alderman asking if they would object to the old abortion mill being purchased by the city. Initially the group said no, but when hearing of opposition by officers they changed their position. Here is their statement:women's center hiv-thumb-500x375

When the Rockford abortion mill was open not only did they celebrate the deaths of babies in the womb as a victory over God, they also mocked African Americans, put up signs ridiculing people with HIV, and spent years attacking Christians with brutally profane language both over their loud speakers and with signs in the windows.

Many Rockford police officers heard and saw this on a weekly basis.  Can anyone blame them for not wanting to reward the owner of that building by having the city purchase it? No officer or citizen should be forced to enter a build where 100,000 children were murdered. No one should have to work in a place that publicly celebrated the pain, suffering and death they inflicted on babies and mothers.

A building that may once have been useful, and a historic landmark even, has been ruined by abortion. The blood of thousands of murdered children will forever cry out.

  • Right to Life of Michigan reminds Hillary Clinton – as she rambles incoherently about the Hobby Lobby decision that she opposes – that her own version of a 1994 healthcare bill included conscience protections:
The 1994 legislation gave “any employer” an exemption from purchasing health care that covered “abortion or other services” if “the employer objects to such services on the basis of a religious belief or moral conviction.”

BaoYu

  • At Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, Reggie Littlejohn tells how a WRWF undercover field worker learned of the potential coercive abortion of a full-term baby girl. They were able to tell the mother of their “Save a Girl” program:
Our fieldworker reassured her that we are helping other families keep their girls too because we believe that girls matter just as much as boys. We offered to give the family a monthly stipend for a year, to help them support their new daughter. With our help, Bao Yu’s mother was able to stand against the cultural tide of son-preference and give birth to precious baby Bao Yu [pictured left].
  • Real Choice recalls her history with journalist Diane Sawyer, who once labeled a bombshell of a story about an abortionist as a “non-story”:
After the allegations of patient A.A. became public, a warrant was issued for [Dr. Lawson] Akpulonu’s arrest on charges of rape. He fled. His whereabouts are still unknown. He and his facility remain “a non-story,” very much like the way the “house of horrors” Kermit Gosnell was running in Pennsylvania was dismissed by Sawyer-caliber journalists as just “a local story” and not worth a second glance on their part.Diane Sawyer, if she’d had a shred of journalistic integrity, would have skulked off in vile disgrace after the Akpulonu story broke no thanks to her. Instead, she continued to pick and choose what the public should know about for decades. Her departure from the newsroom is a long overdue good riddance to bad rubbish.

  • Secular Pro-Life points out that the real war on women is happening with the help of Planned Parenthood and the ACLU, which are supporting two Wisconsin abortionists who can’t manage to obtain admitting privileges. Abortionists Dennis Christensen and Bernard Smith (both pictured) deserve to be poster-children for the necessity of abortion facility inspections:
Christensen’s Rockford, Illinois… was inspected on September 15, 2011, when inspectors found that all three of the abortion rooms “failed to ensure a sanitary environment.” Surgical instruments were not sanitized, and “brown substances” were found on surgical equipment and gloves. Inspectors also discovered that Christensen had no hospital privileges and failed to have a registered nurse present during invasive procedures as required in that state. The Illinois Department of Public Health issued a closure order five days later….

[Smith] was involved in two medical emergencies on the same day in April, 2011. A previous complaint lodged in 2007 concerning other medical emergencies at AMS involving Smith went unheeded.

  • Students for Life comments on the shameless award Planned Parenthood gave their facility in Aurora, Colorado, for exceeding their abortion quota.
  • John Smeaton advertises three paid internships in London this summer, which will “provide[] an excellent induction for those seeking to ‘learn the ropes’ of a leading pro-life organisation. Many interns have gone on to work in the pro-life or political sphere.”

HItler

  • A Voice for Hope posts a sobering picture (left)with a thought provoking question: Are you like him?
  • Wesley J. Smith says a “new study reports that women who use donated eggs in IVF have a greater likelihood of dying”. It can also be dangerous for the donors themselves:
Women who have IVF babies using donor eggs could be much more at risk for a common but potentially dangerous complication of pregnancy, warn researchers. A new study shows a threefold higher risk of hypertension – high blood pressure – and an even higher risk of pre-eclampsia.

Pre-eclampsia is a severe disorder of high blood pressure in pregnancy that is potentially fatal for the mother and baby and the only cure is to deliver the baby surgically. The use of donor eggs in IVF (in vitro fertilisation) is increasingly common among older women trying for a baby who have no eggs of their own.

But French researchers say the pregnancies of egg donation patients are at a higher risk of disorders caused by high blood pressure, than the pregnancies of IVF patients using their own eggs. They found almost one in five pregnant women using a donated egg developed hypertension, compared with one in 20 women using their own eggs during IVF.

Altogether 11 per cent of women using donor eggs suffered pre-eclampsia, compared with less than three per cent of women using their own eggs.

  • Pro-Life Action League reports on a huge free speech victory for pro-lifers in Rockford, Illinois, home of the infamously profane (and thankfully, now closed) Northern Illinois Women’s Center:

The settlement comes after more than five years of federal litigation stemming from harassment of pro-life individuals and other federal civil rights violations on the part of some members of the Rockford Police Department.

As part of the terms of the settlement, Rockford police officers will be required to attend a training program on citizens’ First Amendment rights, with the specific aim of preventing wrongful arrest of citizens for taking part in constitutionally-protected activities.

  • According to Culture Campaign, the House voted yesterday to “[pass] the ‘continuing resolution’ (CR) legislation to fund the budgetless federal government for the rest of the fiscal year including funding for ObamaCare to force Christians to fund abortifacients, sterilization, contraceptives, etc. Fourteen Republicans voted against the bill.”

But the child got back its breath again and burst into crying. The life force of the child was too indomitable…. She then fill the washing basin in the room, which was bigger than the bucket, and put the child into the water again for another half an hour.

After all this, I did not use the washing basin for a long time. For a long time, I felt terrible.

Pro-life video of the day: Pro-lifer attacked at IL roadside protest

by LauraLoo

This month, pro-lifer Kevin Rilott was attacked by a man at a roadside protest in Rockford, Illinois. Pro-Life Action League has posted the video on YouTube, along with this information:

On August 16, 2012, the Pro-Life Action League joined the Rockford Pro-Life Initiative for a Face the Truth Day. At the first site at Riverside Boulevard and Alpine Road, a man leapt from his car and attacked pro-life activist Kevin Rilott, head of the Initiative.

The man had already caught Kevin’s eye for splashing pro-lifers up the road with a dark liquid, so he caught the entire incident on video.

The police have been provided with this footage and it is hoped charges will be filed against him soon.

  • Big Blue Wave shares video of the firebombing of a Catholic, pro-life school bus in Rockford, Illinois. Some speculate that this act of pro-choice violence is in response to the recent closing of an abortion facility in the city as well as an attack on the Catholic faith:

  • Mark Crutcher chastises the GOP for not having the stomach for the pro-life fight as evidenced by the stalling of the Heartbeat Bill in Ohio:

In the final analysis, the Democrats are almost always wrong on moral issues and will fight to the death for them, while the Republicans are generally right on moral issues but don’t care about them.

The result is that, in the cultural civil war currently being waged for the soul and future of our country, the political battle often comes down to a contest between those who lack character and those who lack courage.

You see the pattern: When scientific studies point to a danger from contraception and/or abortion, those studies are ignored, or hidden on the inside pages. When studies suggest the pill is safe, that’s front-page news. The mainstream media are determined to give you all the news you need to know, and what you “need to know” is that contraception is safe — whether or not that’s true.
