Stanek wkend Q: Thoughts on defeat of “war on women” meme?

obama-in-chicago-teaching-the-principles-of-saul-alinskyThe 5th rule in Saul Alinsky’s book, Rules for Radicals, which is the playbook of the Left (even taught by President Barack Obama when he was a law professor), is:

Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage.

15 reasons why pro-choicers think pro-lifers are crushing them

abortion laws pro-life winning

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Roe v Wade in January 2013, Time magazine published a surprising and iconic cover story about how the pro-choice side has been losing ever since it thought it won in 1973. The reasons Time listed were spot on:

  1. Pro-life laws
  2. Public sentiment
  3. Pro-abortion generational in-fighting
  4. Playing defense (defending the status quo)
  5. Science
  6. Stigma
  7. Aging abortionists

Indeed, abortion advocates have been in an admitted state of panic for quite some time over building pro-life momentum.

But within the past several days two abortion advocates have separately admitted their side is losing…

  • Pro-Life Action League does not apologize for picketing hospitals that invite the “P.R. disaster” that will come as a result of granting abortionists admitting privileges:

Admitting privileges legislation has made hospitals the gatekeeper for abortion clinics’ ability to remain open. That’s allowed protests to move away from the clinics themselves and back to the hospitals, a far more vulnerable target.

15 minutes up: Sandra Fluke draws massive crowd of 10

She will not want my sympathies, but I do feel sorry for Sandra Fluke. I’d like to ask her this time next year if she realizes yet she was exploited for political purposes by Barack Obama and feminists.

Then again, she did this to herself. From RGJ.com:

Stanek weekend question: What would your e-card about Obama say?

9/30, 8a: Here’s a good submission by reader David N.:

9/29, 7:13a: Per The Weekly Standard, September 28:

The Obama campaign has created a series of electronic greeting card aimed at women voters. “President Obama summed up the Republican Party’s approach to women’s health when he said ‘they want to take us back to the policies more suited to the 1950s than the 21st century,'” the Obama campaign website reads. “Send an eCard to say you won’t go back.”

Perhaps the oddest card in the series, though, is this one:

which my daughter was good enough to send to me…

Stanek weekend question: Liberal feminists are sluts and a____?

On September 6 Yahoo News reported on, “‘Sluts vote’: the unlikeliest DNC flair”:

A member of the Illinois delegation has sold out of a batch of pins she made that say “Sluts vote.”

The pins, which cost 2 for $5, reference radio host Rush Limbaugh’s attack on women’s activist Sandra Fluke (he called her a “slut” for advocating that insurance plans fully cover contraceptives). We spotted several delegates on Thursday sporting the pins….

I think ‘slut’ is offensive, that’s why we’re trying to own it and make it ours,” said Debra Shore, an Illinois delegate from Chicago.

Makes total sense. Ok, done. Democrat feminists can own the term “sluts.”

S.E. Cupp: Modern feminism “obsessed with sex”

The modern liberal feminist psyche has become so obsessed with sex, how the act itself and the consequences of it will be funded and celebrated, that contraception and abortion are seemingly feminism’s only urgent interests anymore.

Like a Freudian fixation, sex is all they see. It is in everything.

Outside of sex… the other political projects feminists concern themselves with these days seem either ill-conceived, redundant or grasping at relevance in a world that, let’s face it, is much closer to egalitarian than many young women care to admit….

The DNC’s abortion monologues: Fluke, Keenan, Richards

We are taught to “know they enemy,” and in that spirit I forced myself to watch these speeches last night. Sitting through them was ridiculously hard, but since none were longer than 10 minutes I got through my self-imposed homework assignment by taking breaks to recover in between.

Being aware of the other side’s latest twisted talking points and strategies is “frankly” (Cecile’s favorite word) smart. So I’m giving you the same homework assignment. Now, now, I can hear you groaning. But we need to be aware. None of these are longer than 10 minutes. You can do this!
