Palin’s PA speech of Obama and the life issue
Yesterday I posted an Associated Press article that included excerpts from Sarah Palin’s October 11 speech in Johnstown, PA, when she took on Barack Obama for various heinous positions on the life issue.
The Republican National Coalition for Life has distributed that entire segment of Palin’s piece, which is simply excellent. Here ’tis:
![]()
In this same spirit, as defenders of the culture of life, John McCain and I believe in the goodness and potential of every innocent life. I believe the truest measure of any society is how it treats those who are least able to defend and speak for themselves. And who is more vulnerable, or more innocent, than a child?
When I learned that my son Trig would have special needs, I had to prepare my heart for the challenges to come. At first I was scared, and Todd and I had to ask for strength and understanding. But I can tell you a few things I’ve learned already.
Yes, every innocent life matters. Everyone belongs in the circle of protection. Every child has something to contribute to the world, if we give them that chance. There are the world’s standards of perfection… and then there are God’s, and these are the final measure. Every child is beautiful before God, and dear to Him for their own sake….
As for our beautiful baby boy, for Todd and me, he is only more precious because he is vulnerable. In some ways, I think we stand to learn more from him than he does from us. When we hold Trig and care for him, we don’t feel scared anymore. We feel blessed.
It’s hard to think of many issues that could possibly be more important than who is protected in law and who isn’t – who is granted life and who is denied it. So when our opponent, Senator Obama, speaks about questions of life, I listen very carefully.
I listened when he defended his unconditional support for unlimited abortions. He said that a woman shouldn’t have to be – quote – “punished with a baby.” He said that right here in Johnstown – “punished with a baby” – and it’s about time we called him on it. The more I hear from Senator Obama, the more I understand why he is so vague and evasive on the subject. Americans need to see his record for what it is. It’s not negative or mean-spirited to talk to about his record. Whatever party you belong to, there are facts you need to know.
Senator Obama has voted against bills to end partial-birth abortion. In the IL Senate, a bipartisan majority passed legislation against that practice. Senator Obama opposed that bill. He voted against it in committee, and voted “present” on the Senate floor. In that legislature, “present” is how you vote when you’re against something, but don’t want to be held to account.
Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, a Democrat, described partial-birth abortion as “too close to infanticide.” Barack Obama thinks it’s a constitutional right, but he is wrong.
Most troubling, as a state senator, Barack Obama wouldn’t even stand up for the rights of infants born alive during an abortion. These infants – often babies with special needs – are simply left to die.
In 2002, Congress unanimously passed a federal law to require medical care for those babies who survive an abortion. They’re living, breathing babies, but Senator Obama describes them as “pre-viable.” This merciful law was called the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. IL had a version of the same law. Obama voted against it.
Asked about this vote, Senator Obama assured a reporter that he’d have voted “yes” on that bill if it had contained language similar to the federal version of the Born Alive Act. There’s just one little problem with that story: the language of both the state and federal bills was identical.
In short, Senator Obama is a politician who has long since left behind even the middle ground on the issue of life. He has sided with those who won’t even protect a child born alive. And this exposes the emptiness of his promises to move beyond the “old politics.”
In both parties, Americans have many concerns to be weighed in the votes they cast on November fourth. In times like these, with wars and a financial crisis, it’s easy to forget even as deep and abiding a concern as the right to life. And it seems our opponent hopes that you will forget. Like so much else in his agenda, he hopes you won’t notice how radical his ideas and record are until it’s too late.
But let there be no misunderstanding about the stakes.
A vote for Barack Obama is a vote for activist courts that will continue to smother the open and democratic debate we need on this issue, at both the state and federal level. A vote for Barack Obama would give the ultimate power over the issue of life to a politician who has never once done anything to protect the unborn. As Senator Obama told Pastor Rick Warren, it’s above his pay grade.
For a candidate who talks so often about “hope,” he offers no hope at all in meeting this great challenge to the conscience of America. There is a growing consensus in our country that we can overcome narrow partisanship on this issue, and bring all the resources of a generous country to the aid of both women in need and the child waiting to be born. We need more of the compassion and idealism that our opponent’s own party, at its best, once stood for. We need the clarity and conviction of leaders like the late Governor Bob Casey.
He represented a humanity that speaks to all of us – no matter what our party, our background, our faith, or our gender. And no matter your position on this sensitive subject, I hope that spirit will guide you on Election Day. I ask you to vote for McCain-Palin on the November 4th, and help us to bring this country together in the rational discussion of compassion and life.

They are going to repeal DOMA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWi0PD1eXTI
SO WHAT IS DOMA EXACTLY?
The Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, is the short title of a federal law of the United States passed on September 21, 1996 as Public Law No. 104-199, 110 Stat. 2419. Its provisions are codified at 1 U.S.C. § 7 and 28 U.S.C. § 1738C. The law has two effects:
No state (or other political subdivision within the United States) need treat a relationship between persons of the same sex as a marriage, even if the relationship is considered a marriage in another state.
The Federal Government may not treat same-sex relationships as marriages for any purpose, even if concluded or recognized by one of the states.
The bill was passed by Congress by a vote of 85-14 in the Senate[1] and a vote of 342-67 in the House of Representatives[2], and was signed by President Bill Clinton on September 21, 1996.
At the time of passage, it was expected that at least one state would soon legalize same-sex marriage, whether by legislation or judicial interpretation of either the state or federal constitution. Opponents of such recognition feared (and many proponents hoped) that the other states would then be required to recognize such marriages under the Full Faith and Credit Clause of the United States Constitution.
The Defense of Marriage Act must be repealed. Will McCain have the guts to do it if elected?
It does NOT need repealed.
Maybe we should repeal the “Cruel and unusual punishment” part of the Bill of Rights because ABORTION is certainly a CRUEL Punishment for an UNBORN baby!
And Sarah gave an excellent speech.
Ageed, Liz. Awesome speech, Sarah!! GO GIRL!!
As though it takes guts to cave to the homofascists/population control freaks who just want to destroy/redefine “marriage” in a way that doesn’t produce what they hate and fear the most: more children, and family ties that threaten total obeisance to the totalitarian state that would enslave or execute everyone in its thralldom.
What the “hal” have you been smoking?!
I think Palin’s heart is certainly in the right place, and she is right to keep this issue before the American public; however, I think it is naive/delusional to expect any administration allied with the Council on Foreign Relations to do anything substantial to end the abortion holocaust. McCain is a proud member of the CFR, and Obama apparently is a “closet” ally. The CFR exists for the sole purpose of promoting a totalitarian, socialist, global government, aka the New World Order. One of the NWO’s stated goals is to reduce the world population to some 50 million people whom the elite consider to be physically, ideologically, socioeconomically, racially, and mentally “fit”. They want to accomplish this by decreasing the birth rate and increasing the death rate world wide. Two of their stated means to this heinous end are abortion and encouraging homosexuality, since both these decrease the birth rate and increase the death rate of humanity. It was never about “‘gay” or “reproductive” “rights”; those terms are just used to disguise/legitimize the pernicious agenda behind them.
Anyone wishing to see America change into something besides a socialist, third world, slave state still has a choice this election:
Vote Chuck Baldwin, Constitution Party.

GREAT speech Sarah! I just wish that i had heard it from the msm! When is this topic going to come up at a debate? I would love to see Obama squirm his way out of that!
The crowd really cheered when she started talking about the value of kids with special needs.
One interesting aspect of “Troopergate”, Palin’s blood vendetta against her former brother in law, is she and First Dude’s obsession with getting him fired, and dened workmen’s comp, so he could not provide support for the NINE children he has with Palin’s sister. Had the vendetta succeeded, Palin’s nieces and nephews might be on welfare and food stamps. That certainly shows her “compassion”.
The Defense of Marriage Act must be repealed. Will McCain have the guts to do it if elected?

Hal:
Thanks for revealing who you and Obama REALLY are.
Yuu want laws repealed that defend marriage and you want FOCA (guaranteed abortion rights) to become law. Now how perverted is that? Bill Clinton signed FOCA in law Hal. It is not hard to figure out that you and Obama are even more leftist than the Clintons. If the country, or, more importantly Ohio, figures this our before the election, and there’s a great chance they will, you’re both screwed and you know this Hal.
This is the REAL you Hal as it is the REAL Obama. We’ve just got to get the word out.
Why? Because Obama tries to make people believe he is pro-life when he is absolutely not and he tries to make people believe he is against same sex marriage when he is not.
The Governor of Arizona used this same tactic by making Arizonans believe she was a conservative when she was an extreme pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, anti-traditional marriage leftist extremist. In fact, I am sure she is heavily advising Obama’s campiagn. What was one of the first things she did after winning in 2006? She forced that state of Arizona to pay for same sex partner benefits for Arizona State government employees. Imagine that, they’re not even married and we Arizonans are paying benefits to gay people who are living together. Never once did she say she was going to do this because she knows if she did she would have lost in a landslide.
The real question is can Obama decieve this country using the saem tactics Napolitano used in Arizona.
And here’s the truth about Napolitano. She opposed closing our borders which as a result has killed the Arizona economy via an overstressed school system, an overstressed health care system not to mention a soaring crime rate. Many of the illegal aliens that bought houses here, refinanced them, pulled money out, walked away, and are now retired in their native country where it is much cheaper to live. And what are the citizens of Arizona left with? Declining home values, a tanking economy, diminshed portfolio values, etc.
Do you know that more than 5 millions illegal aliens were given home mortgages that they defaulted on? Who forced these mortgages down banks’ throats? You got it…the Democrats.
And God only knows how many terrorsits entered the porous Arizona/Mexico border that Janet Napolitano, despite the pleading of the state legislature, failed and refused to secure. She also tried to pass legislation that would have given illegals drivers licenses. Why? Because with a drivers license you can register to vote. Who do you think these people would vote for for free health care, welfare bebfits, mortgages they didn’t have to pay back, etc., etc., etc. Think ACORN, does anyone see a pattern here?
Are any of you connecting the dots yet? Are you going to continue to believe the lies of the Democrats? They had 54 years of control in Congress over the last 60 years, teh last two of which have been the MOST destructive. Did they end poverty? No, tehy have bankrupted our country. What is the Democratic legacy of the last 60 years? Prayer and God out of schools, Planned Parenthood funding, an ACLU run amok, Roe v. Wade, possibly FOCA, possibly the redefinition of marriage and now a Greater Depression than 1929?
Guys, the Democrats all know this stuff. Hal, knows this stuff. They are laughing their arses off at you for your gullibilty and inability to figure this out on your own. Just look at the records of these people and the end results.
How’s that America for Democratic leadership? And you think Obama has got a plan to save our economy? This is a joke.
If people sense that Obama will be elected, since he proposes taxing the rich (those making over $250,000), you will see the biggest selloff in the stock market ever. Why, because people will see that the capital gains tax will go through the roof and people will try to salvage any gain they may have left before it is taxed by Obama into oblivion.
What will this sell-off do? It will cause the market to crash to nothing.
Yeah, PPC, she totally would have let her nieces and nephews be on welfare and food stamps. Just like she had her little baby get killed for his disability. Or kicked her daughter out into the street for getting pregnant as an unmarried teen. Sorry, Sarah has shown how much she supports her family. I’m sure her nieces and nephews are well taken care of.
That totally burns you I bet.
Elizabeth, the judge in Palin’s sister’s divorce commented on the Palins’ obsession with getting Wooten fired, and questioned why they would want to “kill the goose who laid the golden egg”, on the issue of child support.
No question Palin has taken care of her immediate family with tax-free (so far) goodies from the AK taxpayers, while consistently opposing help for other women, mothers and families.
The judge in the Wooten child support matter had less confidence in Palin’s generosity than you.
It is not coming up in mainstream media and in the debates because it is so low on most of the country’s list of worries and concerns. It is a big deal for one issue single minded voters…but those are too few. And it should be low. Now, it might come up this debate because it hasn’t but it won’t matter. Caribou Barbie is out yelling loudly with her winks and waves and non one is listening. See you in political obscurity!
Bomb bomb iran. Bomb bomb more families and kids! McCain loves war!
You do realize that speeches like this don’t make any difference at all, right? Those who are pro-choice will remain as such, and those who are pro-life will likewise remain as such. It really doesn’t matter. That would be why abortion just isn’t a big deal in the election: it’s such a divisive issues that for candidates to waste time talking about it takes away from time spent talking about issues that people are more flexible on.
This campaign “tactic” of McCain/Palin, like the “lynch mobs” Palin has whipped into a murderous frenzy, will provoke a backlash.
Palin is an anti-choice extremist who opposes abortion for rape and incest, charged victims for rape forensic kits, and is the most anti-woman candidate in recent history. For every nutball she attracts, she will drive away ten moderates and independents, as the polls show.
So true. I personally know several moderates who have said that they cannot, in good conscience, vote for McCain while Palin is his VP. My fiance, who has voted straightline Republican his whole voting life, will switch sides this season because of her. She’s insane, and that’s driving people away.
If abortion weren’t such a big deal in this election then WHY do HA and PPC have to keep saying it’s not a big deal? It must be a pretty big deal!!
The polls, not me, say that abortion is not a “big deal”, and to the extent it is or becomes an issue, Palin’s extremism hurts the GOP.
Polls, Schmolls.
You are only trying to convince yourself that it is not a big deal. Good luck with that.
Palin is as extreme as I am. :)
Speaking of extreme, McCain has announced he intends to “whip Obam’s (ass)” in their debate. The racist connotations and lack of dignity and decency show a campaign of desperation, and a candidate morally unqualified for the office.
Carla-
People are turning away from one issue voting. In fact, I just saw the story of a woman who always voted based on the candidates’ stances on abortion.
Until this election. Now she believes this nation is facing more pressing challenges that will determine whether or not we survive as a viable nation. She’s genuinely afraid of what could happen because of the economic situation.
She’s decided to vote for Obama, “no question.”
Oh, hey! While we’re talking of extremism, what about those folks who slaughter innocent babies when there are -well, less extreme solutions to all the real social problems this holocaust was supposed to solve?!
PPC says Sarah is anti-woman. I’m sure this is because she doesnt agree that women can “do whatever they want because its their body” the pro aborts use all the time.
However, what about women who have abortions and later sufffer guilt, depression and trauma for doing something they never will be able to undo. Many women never get over it.
But we dont hear about that do we?
No especially not from the pro abortion people!
I think Sarah is one of the most pro women candidates ever.
God bless Sarah Palin!
Dan,
That is one woman. I don’t know “what people” you are talking about that are turning away from one issue voting. Nobody has polled me or my friends yet. :)
So that’s me then. An anti-abortion extremist one issue voter. Gotta love it.
One more thing.
If I lived in fear then yes I would be more concerned about the economy. I do not live in fear, as I believe God is in control of everything.
I think you are an intelligent, articulate young man and I am glad you are here, Dan.
Joanna, many women have abortions and never suffer guilt, or depression, and know that they made the best decision for them. Do you hear about them at all?
Also, Palin made women pay for their own rape kits. How at all is that pro-woman?
Dear lord. That’s Human Abstract posting again, good grief.
HA,
Sarah Palin and rape kits
http://www.lifenews.com/nat4364.html
Can you substantiate that MANY women NEVER suffer, guilt or depression from their abortions? Any sources? One of the reasons is that they are NOT SUPPOSED TO. We as a society place the burden of “getting on with it” on them. They cannot grieve in a society that states there is no reason to grieve! Those are the women I am trying to reach!! Please send them my way. Thanks.
There are thousands that DO suffer guilt, depression, suicidal thoughts, and nightmares. All documented in declarations at Operation Outcry.
Exactly right Carla.
Lifenews is a biased source; got anything else?
http://www.imnotsorry.net/
A biased source, yes, but it serves to illustrate that some women do not feel bad about it. I’ve never personally spoken to someone who felt sorry about their abortion, so…
Um. You just did. Me. Click on my name, go to the right side bar of my blog and read of the most horrifying “choice” I have ever made. Settle in. It’s a long read.
Well one biased news source deserves another I guess. :)
I have read some of the stories at imnotsorry. Some of the women do feel regret so I don’t understand why those stories are there. If you read between the lines there are some that really are sorry. Hmmmmm.
Whether one is sorry about the taking of the life has no bearing on the reality of taking said life. Plenty of serial killers and child molestors DON’T feel sorry for what they’ve done, and yet, they still murdered and raped people. Abortion is wrong because it is the taking of another human life. Feeling guilty about it just shows that the person acknowledges the reality of their actions, and holds themselves accountable for them. I imagine people who don’t feel guilty don’t hold themselves accountable, or they make up reasons for why it was the right decision. This does not mean that IT WAS THE RIGHT DECISION.
And in my personal opinion, if you have to post your story on the internet to stick it to the people who are against abortion AND to get validation from pro-choicers, you must not feel THAT secure in your decision. People who are okay with their choices have nothing to prove.
Well said, my smart friend.
Elizabeth (G),
Good points.
I’m so proud of the priests (at a certain church to remain unnamed) who have been so courageous to speak against abortion, while at the same time, not ignoring other important issues. I pray that all pastors, priests, ministers, religious, lay people, etc… could be that way! God bless you!

McCain has announced he intends to “whip Obama’s (ass)”
————————————————
And of course everyone knows that only people of african decent have asses to be whipped and only the white euro’s have ever whipped them.
What a bunch of race baitin bovine scatulation.
What a bouqet of transparently fake artificial flowers.
PPC, ‘Don’t go peein down my leg and try to tell me it’s rainin.’ (The late Gov. Ann ‘wrinkles’ Richards words)
PPC, that is so lame. Call McCains words immature or low class, or undignified, not befitting a man who would seek the highest office in the land, but puhlease, do not go dealing the race card, the ace of spades, from the bottom of the deck.
PPC it would do you a world of good to go spend a weekend in the local jail with some of the brothas and sistas from the hood and just listen to demeaning crap they dish out to each other. Listen to the whitey this and cracker that.
These are not terms of endearment. These are epithets that are just as racist as anything ever uttered by any other person of non-african decent. You want to hear to some classic examples of misogynistic misanthropy. I challenge you, you politically correct prince(ss). Go spend some quality time on the liberal plantation, buy a home in the hood.
None of this has anything to do with genetics, and everything to do with culture.
Black africans who immigrate here want to stay as far away from this ‘great society’ as they can. They do not want to be associated with it and they do not want to be endangered by it.
I recall it was one Reverend Jesse Jackson who was so upset with the o’bama for talking down to ‘niggers’ (Jesse’s own word) that he wanted to perform some gender re-assignment surgery on the ‘messiah’ (the most reverend Louis Farrakan’s own word).
I am shockeD, Shocked, SHOCKED!!!!!!! There is racism in america. (Picture Scarlet o’hara or Red Foxx here, with back of wrist to knitted brow,’Ooooooooooh woe is me!/It’s the biggun Lizabeth, I’m comin!’)
yor bro ken
HA, HA, HA, HA…..
ABortion is the biggest issue facing America if you believe in liberty and justice. 150 American babies were killed in abortuaries in Illinois last year alone for every one American killed in the entire Iraq war. That makes 46,000 women who submitted to having their young child killed inside their wombs. If, unlike Bill Maher, most Americans still believe in God, then abortion must be stopped at all costs. It is the kind of evil that can damage the soul of the entire country and leads to untold evil in all other areas of our lives.
“Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. That is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion. What is taking place in America is a war against the child. And if we accept that the mother can kill her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another?” ~ Mother Theresa of Calcutta

Preserve the liberty of women, who got it after so long! Justice is letting the women themselves make their own choices.
