Lunch Break: “Sound of Silence”
by LauraLoo
Paul Simon sings Sound of Silence at the 9/11 Memorial yesterday. And here’s the live 1966 version that Paul Simon sang with Art Garfunkel.

So there was time and space for Paul Simon to sing, but none for the clergy.
Superb.
I guess it’s more in line with Bloomberg’s own deep spirituality. ;-)
I guess we were to be content with Obama reading Psalm 46. (We’re fortunate to have had that morsel.) :(
Yeah, I was surprised by that.
I half expected Rev. Wright to show up at any moment. Start spreading his love for this evil, capitalist country, chickens roosting and all that.
beautiful song!
I watched bits and pieces of the memorial on television and several people said things about their family members and Heaven, so it wasn’t a total loss (at least they weren’t censored) Plus, there was a Memorial Mass at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral to commemorate the anniversary; it was aired on EWTN.

Bloomberg is a Jew who doesn’t wear his religion on his sleeve. You have a problem with that?
And if clergy had been invited which faiths would be represented? If only one representative from each major denomination had been selected, can you imagine the evangelical uproar if the Protestant representative had been an Episcopalian? Can you imagine the uproar if a Muslim imam had been invited? There were plenty of religious observances around the city. Even archbishop Dolan, on Fox News, wasn’t whining about the lack of clergy.
Plus, Paul Simon as part of the former Simon & Garfunkel is an iconic NY musical artist.
