Canada pro-life flyer leaves pro-abort cold
by Bethany Kerr
I found this op ed in the Student Newspaper at the University of Alberta today by student Jennifer Jones:
I’m writing this in response to the piece of paper taped to the back of my bathroom stall on 28 January. Normally, I’m immune and uncaring to the various forms of propaganda and advertising that grace bathroom walls; however, I was rather incensed at the sight of this particular piece of paper, which was an advertisement for the U of A Pro-Life organization (or so the stamp on the paper reads at the bottom)….
I… take issue with the “facts” that they were promoting.
The paper states: “Jan. 28. On this day in 1988, the Supreme Court of Canada struck down the federal legislation restricting abortion. Since then, the number of abortions has drastically increased. Today in Canada, there are approximately 100,000 abortions per year (Statistics Canada). Today, we remember and mourn the victims of abortion, past and present.”
The pro-life organization in question backed up their sources with a legitimate source. Why did Jones put quotes around the word “facts,” as if they were not?
Perhaps Jennifer has a problem with the term “victims of abortion,” but aren’t pro-lifers entitled to their beliefs, as she claims? If pro-lifers believe abortion is an injustice, and if they want to mourn abortion victims, why should they censor their beliefs for her benefit? Continuing on:
I would have much rather have seen a poster advertising an open house or group meeting to discuss the convictions of the pro-life organization. But to do it in this way does a disservice to those that truly believe for rational reasons that abortion is not the only option.
Though I may be pro-choice, I still heartily believe in options, which is exactly what the Supreme Court ruling was about.
How about this poster? I thought options were the very definition of pro-choice? Yet, Jennifer says, “though I’m pro-choice, I believe in options.” Isn’t that an oxymoron? More….
By not having legislation on abortion, it gives us choice.
This was a poor showing of getting a message out, an it speaks of bitterness and spite.
You should seek to educate people on why abortion isn’t the answer and how pro-life is preferable, not to enrage people by the injustice of it all.
Uh, Jennifer, they were seeking to educate people on why abortion isn’t the answer. You just didn’t learn. And…
You only end up pi**ing people off and reinforcing their determination to stay out of the argument and ignore it.
If that’s true, then you, and others like you, should support flyers like this. After all, they should only help your side, not hurt it.

Maybe she should reconsider her views if the truth of the situation bothers her so much. Would she have been just as ticked off if the flyer was about STD’s and how much they have increased through the years?
Pictures of aborted babies just rip my heart out. It grieves me to no end. Praying helps.
Thanks for using my graphic. :D
I would just like to comment on the victim in the picture.
He was aborted circa the year 2005 in the province of Quebec. He was killed due to a diagnosis of partial monosomy 21– he was partially missing one of the chromosomes of the 21 pair. The thesis from which I drew the picture concluded that the malformations were relatively minor. You might noticed that his face is partially malformed at the jaw. His malformations seemed reparable to me.
The method of his death was “feticide”– probably a shot of potassium chloride to the heart. In any event, he died a painful death. He was delivered two weeks after his death.
…heartbreaking. What a beautiful child.
What an appropriate day to check in with all y’all… seeing as I currently an in Alberta, Canada AND I start at the U of A in the fall.
I’m sorry I haven’t got much of anything constructive to say. Just wanted to drop a little “hi” in here.
Actually, though, if people were to be shown pictures that properly taught of abortion, there would be EXTREMELY few like the one posted seeing as nearly all abortions take place in the first trimester.
But I’m not going to be arguing. Too happy with life. Greetings from Three Hills, all! (not Lancombe like my little survey flag says)
Hi Leah, thanks for checking in. Glad to hear you’re so happy with life. Don’t be a stranger.
If we waited until we received clearance from every pro-abort as to what was considered an acceptable form of protest we would have a long wait indeed! Of course pro-aborts do not have a sense of urgency as they deny the humanity of the unborn. Those who do recognize unborn children as worthy of nourishment and protection see it as their duty to do what they can to alert the public, using whatever legal means are available, as to the extreme injustice of abortion. A picture says a thousand words, and in this case probably even more than that.
It’s so quiet on this post. Too quiet. Where are the other commenters? The ones that claim that killing that beautiful baby is ok?
Hi Carla!
Suzanne,
If you are still around, do you know why they waited two weeks after his death to deliver him? I would just love to ask the “mother” how she felt carrying her dead baby around for two weeks. What did she possibly say to people who asked when her due date was.
What a beautiful little guy. I just want to cry.
He did nothing wrong. He did nothing to deserve this. The people who promote this type of murder are monsters.
Hi Sandy!
Still waiting for someone to hop on this post and say that they agree. Agree that that beautiful baby should have died. As long as the mother CHOSE to have him killed it’s ok.
I can’t stop looking at his precious little face…
Hey Carla,
We might be waiting a while. Did you happen to see the post Jill put up about the abortion clinic strike in Spain? The photo of a baby torn limb from limb stared us all in the face.
I couldn’t bring myself to watch the videos.
On the post was pop culture banter. It made me so upset. It was so disgraceful. Erin posted she was so sad that the Golden Globe awards were going to be cut short due to the writers’ strike. No mention of a dismembered baby right in front of her, no mention of the illegal very late term abortions that were taking place.
Just sad that the over paid hollyweirdos weren’t going tobe able to put their plastic faces on tv due to the writer’s strike.
Let’s be sad about that, but not that there are innocent babies being brutally murdered. It’s like a bad dream.
Who knows about that picture?
For all we know, the entire back of it’s head could be missing. It might be the product of one of those freakish trisomy mutations that left it without genitalia, kidneys and eyes.
A few weeks ago on the LifeNews site, an artcle featured a pic of a “truth truck” festooned with the picture of a whole fetus riddled with necrotic tissue. It had been dead – or close to it – LONG before it left the uterus.
Look at the weird features and skin on that fetus.
This was the first thing I thought of when I looked at it:

FF –

How does necrotic tissue prove to you that the baby was dead before he/she left the womb? do you want me to show you pictures of people who are alive with necrotic tissue?

There ya go!
Also, if you knew what partial monosomy 21 was you would know that the baby would have survived and lived a fairly normal life. My sisters niece has it. She is beautiful. Well, actually she has full monosomy known as Turner’s Syndrom. Living a perfectly healthy and normal life. And is as smart as every other child her age.
I’m not quite sure why you posted the link you did, but it did link to another website that shows an 18 year old with that disease.

Yes, twist it all around and pick apart the picture and throw out some sarcastic comment about his features….
WHY IS KILLING THIS PRECIOUS ONE OK WITH YOU, LAURA?
FF,
If you read Suzanne’s post she explains the baby was not delivered for two weeks after they murdured him. That would definitley explain the texture of the skin etc….
You can try to deflect this anyway you want, but this innocent baby was murdered.
I understand you got your front teeth kicked out by a horse that left a gaping hole. You have stated you have a chicken chin and admit to plenty of plastic surgery and will do more. so obviously you weren’t born perfect.
Why should this child have been murdered just because it was not perfect.
Also, if you knew what partial monosomy 21 was you would know that the baby would have survived and lived a fairly normal life.
…………………………
You ‘know’ no such thing. Suzanne got the picture and the diagnosis from a thesis. We have no idea where the writer of the thesis obtained this picture or the medical diagnosis of the fetus.
This was obviously a wanted pregnancy. Fantasizing about the circumstances of the abortion and attempting to present those fantasies as facts is dishonest.
Here’s the thesis:

I suspect the person in question got this from a medical photographer.
The pro-choicers and pro-aborts won’t comment on this photo. It shoots down their entire agenda and forces them to see the truth…and we all know how they HATE the truth about their beloved abortion industry.
I would love to know what Laura said to that horse that made it kick her in the face.
Do prochoicers support adoption? Keeping and raising your own child? Or is Abortion THE ONLY CHOICE?
Do proaborts only support abortion as THE ONLY CHOICE?
Could be more labels to confuse the public. and me.:)
Carla,
Whatever you call it, abortion is a POOR CHOICE*.
*from the website of the same name.
Here’s the thesis:

………………..
Suzanne, your link is about 22 not 21 and does not support your assertion that the fetus would have been viable upon completion of gestation.
Yes, I made a mistake, it’s partial monosomy 22. But the fact that the malformations were so minor suggests that it was not a serious case. There was nothing to suggest that this baby was in any great danger of dying soon after birth.
The pro-choicers won’t comment on this photo. It shoots down their entire agenda and forces them to see the truth.
Mike, that’s silly. I do think it’s too bad when a pregnancy is aborted at 27 weeks. I certainly can understand the parents not wanting to have a kid with chromosomal abnormalities, but that’s late enough in gestation that I feel pulled both ways on it.
