Pro-life blog buzz 5-12-15

  • Secular Pro-Life responds to Amnesty International’s recommendation that a 10-year-old rape victim in Paraguay should be made to undergo an abortion at 22 weeks – for her “safety”:

An abortion on a pregnancy this advanced is performed by lethal injection to the unborn baby’s heart, after which the mother goes into labor to expel the corpse. That means this poor 10-year-old is going to experience labor no matter what happens….

The only question is whether she will give birth to a live baby or a dead one. But Amnesty International doesn’t even consider the idea of allowing this baby to take a breath. They’re just using this case to push a “safe abortion” agenda. I’m afraid the days when Amnesty International actually stood up for human rights are long gone.

“Immediatist vs Incrementalist” debate analysis, Part III: Social justice history vs TR Hunter

7067987283_3bb744093cAs I start, I’d like to reiterate why I’m pursuing this multi-part analysis of the “Immediatist vs Incrementalist” debate between Abolish Human Abortion’s T. Russell Hunter and Center for Bio-Ethical Reform’s Gregg Cunningham.

In a comment to my Part II post, an antagonized Hunter called my efforts a “freaked out obsession,” to which I responded:

  • Secular Pro-Life lists 8 things that After Tiller left out of their federally funded PBS broadcast.
  • At LifeSiteNews.com, Dustin Siggins produces some interesting insights he gleaned from an After Tiller Google+ Chat, even though the panel had no representation from pro-lifers. One of the abortionists, Dr. Susan Robinson, made chilling statements of twisted logic, so often seen in those whose life’s work is ending others’ lives:

  • Secular Pro-Life writes that the CEO of Sir Richard’s condom company intends to donate one condom to a developing country for each condom purchased because “if everyone bought our condoms, we could really change the world.” SPL says:

According to the CDC, while condoms are highly effective at preventing HIV transmission, the typical use failure rate for condoms as a contraceptive is a dismal eighteen percent. People often fail to make that distinction, and therefore do not appreciate the chances of pregnancy as fully as they should. No doubt that misunderstanding will be magnified in a region that has little in the way of healthcare access and sex education.

Pro-abortion terrorist sentenced to 41 months in prison

Read backstory here.

Theodore Shulman not only threatened to kill several pro-life leaders, he was found in possession of “cyanide and two other deadly substances” when apprehended by the FBI in May 2010. Shulman liked to refer to himself as the “first pro-choice terrorist.”

Shulman faced up to 51 months in prison and a fine of $250,000. An October 3 press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, District of New York, indicates Shulman ended up getting sentenced to 41 months in prison, three years supervised release, and a $100 fine.

  • Here’s a quote you wouldn’t normally see at RH Reality Check:

Yet both sides agree there is a moral urgency to ending the contamination of human beings from toxic chemicals, beginning in the womb. Government interest in fetal life shouldn’t be limited to blocking women’s right to choose. Instead, governments should choose to protect the interest in a healthy fetus by protecting women’s health, specifically women’s right to bear children and their right to a healthy pregnancy.

Interestingly, Margie Kelly thinks that “by separating fetuses from the fetal environment [by displaying prenatal photos and ultrasounds], [pro-lifers] make women into enemies of the fetus.”

Pro-abortion terrorist faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted

Mother Jones has a story up today as well as a link to the indictment of pro-abort terrorist Theodore Shulman. Shulman was arrested on February 25 for threatening two pro-life leaders. Above is the last post Shulman wrote before being arrested. From the MJ piece:
