New WND column: “Darth Durbin”
Many will be surprised that infamously pro-abortion U.S. Senator Dick Durbin was once a warm-blooded pro-lifer. My column today tracks the demise of one of many political figures who sold their soul to get ahead in the Democrat Party, with an interesting paper trail called the Durbin Abortion Papers provided by National Right to Life.

“Darth Vader was not always evil. He started out as one of the good guys, a Jedi knight who stood for right.” Lucifer was a pretty good angel too.
Darth Durbin is the Richard Rich of our times. Richard Rich was the erstwhile friend of Thomas More. He betrayed More to become Attorney General of Wales.
Rich was a man whom More befriended. Rich wanted desparately to get some kind of political post, but More saw a weakness, especially ambition, in the young man and denied him an office.
Later on, currying favor with Thomas Cromwell, Richard Rich attained the post of Attorney General for Wales after promising to testify falsely against More at his trial. Thomas More’s remark to Rich echoes down through history–“‘What doth it profit a man to gain the whole world at the price of his soul,’ but for Wales?”
Is not political ambition, a Senate seat, the price of Richard Durbin’s soul?
Great comments on Lucifer and Richie Rich as historical role models. But God gave you quite a writer’s gift, using Darth Vader is yet another stroke of genius.
