What amazes me is not only the sensationalist spin (which I noted with regard to another issue on my blog) but the fact that the article is rife with inaccuracies.
several states have seized the opportunity to overturn their local laws.
As far as I know, there are no “local laws” on the books in these states allowing abortion. These states have been trying desperately for 30 year to pass anti-abortion legislation and have thwarted by this judicial abortion called Roe v. Wade.
One more social conservative on the court could tip the balance towards a national ban.
No, the overturning of Roe will not cause a national ban (as much as I’d like to see that). It will simply move the abortion issue back to the states (most of whom will ban abortion, leaving pockets of abortion activity on the east and west coasts). What is really needed is a law to grant constitutional citizenship to the unborn from conception. A bill that does this is wending its way through congress (and has 60 sponsors).
Do you think if I wrote that paper, I could get them to issue a correction?
Tony, I would sure try. Even if the newspaper ignores you, someone will read what you write and put it in a memory bank to hopefully correct in the next article.
At any rate, our continued pressure, whether we sense it bears fruit or not, is vital. We must call MSM on EVERY inaccuracy.
Thanks!
