4th of July at the White House
As I mentioned on July 2, we are moving our daughter Daena to DC this week to begin a new job.
How great to coincidentally have the opportunity to celebrate the 4th of July in our nation’s capital! We originally planned to watch the fireworks on the slope of the Washington Monument. But through a connection we ended up watching the fireworks from the South Lawn of the White House (!), while the President, Laura, Barbara, Bush I, twins Barbara and Jenna, Condi, Karl (all who we spotted), viewed them from the veranda. It was a memorable night.
See more pictures on page 2.
UPDATE, 11a: All photos are now up, including a very grainy one of President Bush.

We were served pop and Dove Bars….

View of the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial from inside the WH gates….

The Mount Rushmore boys showed up….

The first band, the US Marine Corps Band, played traditional patriotic songs. The second band, the US Army Band, got down with rock and soul.

A Revolutionary War-era band also played….

Daena, barefoot on the WH lawn….

Ok, you’re going to have to take our word for this. Watching the fireworks, from left to right under the first portico, are Laura, President Bush, Barbara, and Bush I….

Injured soldiers from Walter Reed Medical Center were invited to watch the fireworks at the WH, too. President Bush greeted them personally.

The Old Executive Mansion, on the WH complex….

Wow, how incredible!!!! That must have been such an unbelievable night!!
Wow! What a great introduction to Washington for your daughter.
That’s AWESOME. For a place brimming with corruption and lying politicians (not just the Repiblicans, all politicians are pretty much scummy), Washington has always struck me as such a beautiful place.
Washington is beautiful! Glad you all had a great 4th!
Wow, thats exciting Jill…looks like you had a good time.
Now, what President Bush should do next is give Scooter Libby a full Pardon and fire 8 more US attorneys….that will really get the Libs foaming at the mouth..
Jasper, again, you show what an incredible bigoted jerk you can be. For someone who constantly bashes liberals, you are wanting for much credibility yourself.
The troops aren’t murderers. They are as much innocent bystanders as the rest of us, forced to sacrifice themselves to wars that may appear justified on the surface, but are in reality little more than profitable enterprises for the privileged few. If there’s anyone who’d know about the “real” happenings in Iraq, it’s the kids fighting it. Many of them are my friends, one is the man of my dreams (he was in Iraq 3 times as an INTELLIGENCE ANALYST). He would know what kind of junk REALLY goes on, and has let me know vaguely (he’s not allowed to tell me much) that we really aren’t there to “protect the American way”. We’re there NOW to protect the pocketbooks of certain high-ranking officials and contractors. If it’s any indication, he won’t buy oil from the companies profiting from the blood of his fellow Marines. It’s time to let the truth out, people… The politicians and the self-serving scumbags in office who send our troops over for personal gain (can anyone say CHENEY and Halliburton??) are the REAL murderers.
I didn’t know the military had formal rock bands. Is there a hip hop group too? DJ Navy?
Hey there Cam. :)
“Jasper, again, you show what an incredible bigoted jerk you can be.”
Now, we’re talkin…..
for your education:
http://www.dantejoseph.com/HypocrisyExposed.html
“Is there a hip hop group too? DJ Navy?”
Cam, I take it you missed the “MC Rove” performance…..
hehe a Hip Hop Navy Group? That’ll be the day!!
Midnite,
I was just asking about you!
Hey, what’s up?
Where you been?
Cameron, you reminded me to add photos of the Revolutionary War band…. close enough?
MK,
Hmm, the weekend of the 23rd of June I went south for a mini vacation to Gulf Shores for a wedding and to see my Papa that lives there (I love my grandfather and never get to see him anymore). Last weekend I was at the lake, and Thursday and Wednesday, I was at the lake. My friend Kevin got home from Iraq on Thursday for his two week R&R, so it was a drunken 4th with beautiful fireworks over the lake last night. I’ll post some pics later for y’all to see, they were amazing!!
And other than that, I’ve been studying my butt off for Chemistry and Statistics, how have you been?
Jasper- Wow… You sure are disrespectful…. I thought Christians were suppose to be loving, caring, nice and respectful individuals. I certainly DO NOT see that from you right now. I think someone needs to grow up.
Looks like a lot of fun Jill! When does your daughter start her new job?
Monday…
Do you mean the evil, awful Karl Rove? The official plotter of the end of civilization?!
Jill, how could you?!
Jill,
Thats great… I’m excited for her! I bet you can’t wait to hear all about her first day! :D I know my mom is going to calling me after my first day of work… I start new teacher orientation on July 23. Then the students start Aug 6. I am so excited!
I NEVER called our troops murderers. I simply acknowledge that during war, good men are put into impossible situations and the results are tragic. Innocents are killed during war on both sides, by soldiers. I don’t blame those soldiers, I blame the circumstances surrounding service in the armed forces for putting men and women into those situations.
Jill,
I hope your daughter runs for high political office.
She has good genes.
Erin:
Yeah, I know how you feel about scumbag politicians.
Hill and Billary come to mind, two of the biggest scumbags that ever breathed DC air.
I just don’t like politicians in general. Politics is a very corrupt field, no matter what side of an issue you are on.
Hey Jasper,
I’m sorry, were you actually IN Iraq, or are you just spouting off right-wing don’t-question-anything bullsh*t again? You seem to think that all of us were against the war from the beginning…sorry, not true. I think all of us wanted to go to war because of the promises made to us by Bush about there being an “imminent” threat over there (which I still believe wholeheartedly about Afghanistan, proving once again that I’m not just some LIBERAL beast, but I will support JUST causes for war, unlike Iraq). Unlike you and the people you blindly follow and believe, I can look at something and say “alright, the BIG threat is gone…why are we still there? I see instability, alright. I will agree with you there. But then you look again and see other insidious reasons for being in a war, such as profit for the big contractors. Until we remove such profit-laden perks from the war at the expense of our sons’, daughters’, mothers’, fathers’, etcs’ lives, I cannot and will not support it. You sicken me with your brainwashed ideals of “freedom”.
And about my boyfriend…he supported the war too until he saw who benefitted from his friends deaths’. And if you never questioned anything about your job when you believed something wasn’t right, you’re more backwards and idiotic than previously thought. Go ahead and do some research on your own about who is and who is not profitting from the war. Make your own conclusions about WHOSE BEST INTERESTS are at heart.
And I have never been a Michael Moore fan, you disrespectful jerk (I have not seen his movies except for a small snippet of “Bowling for Columbine”). Unlike you, I don’t just swallow propaganda like some right-wing fanatical. I think he’s as much of a idiot pundit as that low-life Ann Coulter (I shudder to even think that she disgraces the term ‘woman’). I did my own looking into things, and, with the evidence put forth from my boyfriend (who is by no means a LIBERAL), and I came to my own conclusions and suspicions (long before I even MET my boyfriend…he just made my worst suspicions even more solidified).
Lyssie to Jasper: “you disrespectful jerk”
thanks for that.
Ya Bill and Hill. 2 Scumbags who deserve each other!!
The attacks on the Clintons seem quaint after the mess GWB has made of his job. I’m no fan of Hillary, but she’d never be as bad as the current gang.
Here’s a tidbit for those who like Romney (who supported the Libby communtation):
As governor, Romney twice rejected a pardon for Anthony Circosta, who at age 13 was convicted of assault for shooting another boy in the arm with a BB gun – a shot that didn’t break the skin. Circosta worked his way through college, joined the Army National Guard and led a platoon of 20 soldiers in Iraq’s deadly Sunni triangle.
In 2005, as he was serving in Iraq, he sought a pardon to fulfill his dream of becoming a police officer.
In his presidential bid, Romney often proudly points out that he was the first governor in modern Massachusetts history to deny every request for a pardon or commutation during his four years in office. He says he refused pardons because he didn’t want to overturn a jury.
During the four years Romney was in office, 100 requests for commutations and 172 requests for pardons were filed in the state. All were denied.
I’m not sure why everyone hates Hillary. I asked my mom and she could never give me a straight answer. It seems like no one has an answer that is based on her own merit and not on the mistakes of her husband.
I dislike her policy on freedom of speech situations (including her weird fascination with stopping video game violence) but I do like her health care and education policies. There’s a lot to like about her. Most seem to just hate her and are content with that.
Erin,
You’re right. Politics is filled with corruption.
There are a few honest people out there though. We shouldn’t let that keep us from getting involved.
Go to http://www.lenmunsil.com. That guy is for real.
Remember though, we all fail and no one is perfect.
I just don’t like the out and out intentional liars for the sake of getting power, Republican or Democrat. For example, I don’t like Rudy Guiliani or John McCain for that matter. I think they are both liars. Plus, I don’t trust any guy that treated his wife badly.
I wish that Jon Kyl would run for prez. He’s a stand up guy. I like Condi too, however, she has very liberal abortion views but I think she is basically a good person. Wouldn’t be a hoot to have the first female prez be an African-Amercian female? I would love it.
What about you? Want to make a difference?
Hal,
Whose actions do you think caused 9/11 and the terrorist mess we’re in? Ever heard of Jimmy Carter who betrayed the Shah and allowed that nut job Khomeini back into power. And Clinton, Monica was sucking on his wonder willy while Osama was plotting. Amazing!
George is simply cleaning up their piles.
It is totally dishonest to blame anything to do with terrorism on George Bush.
Erin, I know you never said that the troops are murderers. I’m sorry if my post made it seem like I thought you said it. I know you wouldn’t. :)
HisMan,
are you sure you don’t mean http://www.lemmingsil.com?
No problem, lyssie, I was talking more at jasper who apparently likes to put words in people’s mouths.
Now, MK, are you being mischievous AGAIN? :)
MK:
I’m so confuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuused!
Oh, HisMan, MK is just a riot. :) She really confuses everyone…but we know she’s just clever. :)
Hey Guys:
Do you mind if I whine and beg for some pity?
My head feels like a balloon ready to pop.
On Monday night I chipped a molar while I was eating cherries. That hurt like you know what. Had a temporary crown installed on Tuesday. I could hardly breath without screaming.
Testerday the temporary crown fell out and I suffered for 24 hours until I could have it put back on today. My jaw is sore from novacaine shot on two days, my tooth hurts, even my hair hurts. I’ve been a bear to live with.
It’s all Cameron’s fault.
MK, stop picking on me.
The only one who has been nice to me today is Erin.
I’m a wimp when it comes to pain.
wah, wah, wah, wah!
MK, hi. Go to the Paul Morrison post [June] Smoggy posted some news footage. It appears that George T. Killer had his clinic flooded by some RTL’s. He’s got his spider man briefs in a bunch. I guess it happened yesterday.
HisMan: I’m with you on the tooth problems thing…I was born without three adult teeth, so I have three baby molars at the age of 19. They could fall out any day. :( That’s gonna suck because they’ll have to either put in bridges or implant fake teeth into my jaw…
Plus my wisdom teeth have to come out soon because my jaw is beginning to hurt. *hugs* I’m sending you some “painkiller” vibes. lol
HisMan-
That is the most painful stuff EVER!!! I chipped one of my molars on a cherry pit in cobbler two years ago over Thanksgiving- and it was 4 days before I could get ANY help. I empathize!
I’ll be nice to you His Man. I have minor foot surgery scheduled for tomorrow. I hate the thought of a Novocaine shot into the soul of my foot.
By the way, Jill, your daughter has the most GORGEOUS blue eyes. I’m jealous.
Erin, that sucks!
I agree with Erin. Jill’s daughter’s eyes. I have big blue/green eyes. I get a lot of compliments on them. My girlfriend’s eyes are so blue, they literally sparkle! I have a pair of violet contacts. Every now and again I wear them. They look pretty cool.
Hey back at ya Lyssie!!
Jill,
Is the revolutionary war band affiliated with a branch of the military?
HisMan,
“It’s all Cameron’s fault.”
When it gets better, does Jesus get credit then?? ;-)
I’m partial to blue eyes as well, Jill…and your daughter has a really beautiful set of them! I have really deep blue eyes too… I guess that’s why I’m so biased! In fact…one of my blog handles is “platinum and sapphires”…for my hair and my eyes. :)
My eyes are gray-blue and I think they’ve turned more gray as I’ve gotten older, I kind of prefer the gray, to me it seems more “wise”, so-to-speak not as generic as blue.
“By the way, Jill, your daughter has the most GORGEOUS blue eyes. I’m jealous.”
I thought the same thing. One of my best friends has really really blue eyes, so gorgeous.
Is it okay if I complain about teeth too? ;) When I was in high school I got my wisdom teeth out on December 21. Luckily by Christmas I was able to eat some foods. But on the 24th I had to go back to the doctor (I’m glad his family was okay with him seeing me on Christmas eve day) because I wasn’t clotting and I was in a TON of pain.
Feel better soon hisman!
Lyssie- to bad about your teeth… :( I lost my last baby tooth when I was a Sr in high school and thats because I told the dentist to pull it. The molar was there behind the baby tooth, it just wouldn’t fall out, no matter how hard I pulled.
I’m agreeing with everyone so far. Those are the kind of eyes that can a drown a man if he isn’t careful.
HMPH. I wish my eyes were like that. Mine are blue-grey, so if I want blue eyes, I have to wear contacts.
I also agree with Erin on the politics and corruption topic. That’s one of the reasons I refuse to let myself get involved with them. It seems like a fascinating field, but after experience SJNMA politics, I don’t want anything to do with’em.
Men in skirts?
Posted by: jasper at July 3, 2007 03:54 PM
[Jasper, did your mother ever tell you that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all? Seriously, you are starting to discredit yourself as a member of the human race. You seem to be more like a feces-throwing chimp than a man. Also, you gotta problem with a man wearing a kilt? Come on over here so I can hand you your sorry butt, then laugh as you tell your friends you got you @$$ whooped by a “man in a skirt.”]
Dan,
STOP! The animal thing is way to “visual”…
(what kinds of animals?)
Posted by: MK at July 3, 2007 08:38 AM
MK,
All animals are drawn to the Scottish. We’re a very good-looking breed of human. It’s just how hot and sexy we are that scares away most humans, who cannot begin to comprehend the feelings of extreme lust and attraction they’re feeling as soon as we walk into a room.
Jill, DC is a gorgeous city. It hides corruption, deceit, and things uglier than something out of my worst nightmares, but it is a beautiful city on the outside. I’m jealous that you were there. According to my buddy from Boston, the 4th out there was spectacular, and I wish I hadn’t been shooting off $500 worth of fireworks in Wisconsin on a lake at the time he called me. DC and Boston would’ve been so much prettier…
I am jealous of blue and green eyes. Mine are the color of poo, and I hate them. I am waiting for the time when surgery can change the color of them…
Thanks Erin and Lyssie and Heather4Life. I’m so sorry to hear about your teeth Lyssie and your foot Heather4Life, I’ll say a prayer that all goes well for both both of you. (There, I just said it). I’ve gotta say this….women are awesome. They are so compassionate. I have five sisters and when I come to think of it, whenever I hurt I always went to them and not my two brothers.
After I posted that whine I went to sleep for about 4 hours. When I woke up and looked up at the clock and saw 6:30 I didn’t know if it was am or pm. It was a Rod Serling (Twilight Zone) moment.
Cameron:
Now you’re getting it. Yes, when it’s all better, Jesus gets the credit.
MK;
I hope you know I was kdding?
Erin, Skinhead, Lyssie and others…
Lyssie, if your boyfriend is an intel officer, he’s not suppose to be sharing information with you. why is he?
“Come on over here so I can hand you your sorry butt”
I’m waiting, come to Boston, don’t forget, bring some friends with you.
If I were President, I’d have you all tried for sedition and sent to gitmo.
Hey Jasper:
I’ve been kind of out of it for a while.
What’s with all the angst bro?
Hey Jill:
The question about New Hampsire to the right in the column is not worded properly.
Think about it.
HisMan,
Some people on around seem to think that our troops and (and Pres. Bush) are responsible for the killing going on in Iraq. I confront them time and again that its the terroists who are blowing up cars, setting off IED’s, disrupting democracy, etc.
It’s gets frustrating listening to their stupid conspiracy theories….and I’m just calling them out on it.
Lyssie “I think he’s as much of a idiot pundit as that low-life Ann Coulter (I shudder to even think that she disgraces the term ‘woman’)”
Lyssie, Ann Coulter is great.
jasper- Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the war, this country and Bush. If you don’t like it, then thats fine, because you are also entitled to your own opinion.
I hate to break it to you, but while the soldiers may not being blowing up cars and such. They are still killing and being killed. My uncle was over there, a doctor and I’m sure he saw some horrible horrible things. I don’t support Bush, never have and never will and if a liberal was in office I guarantee…. GUARANTEE you’d be singing a different tune right now.
“I don’t support Bush, never have and never will”
This war will not be lost in Iraq, if we do lose, it will be lost right here, in the good-ole USA.
and if a liberal was in office I guarantee…. GUARANTEE you’d be singing a different tune right now.”
No, I wouldn’t. I would support President Clinton if he was still in office, in a time of war, as I did during Bosnia/Kosovo. Not blindly, but I would side with him before any enemy of the US. I was against Clintons Impeachment. The rest of the world picks up what our dispickable MSM / George Soros / Michael Moore says about the President.
Jasper:
Just think if you had a son in the Middle East who has put his life on the line 6 times how you would feel listening to the imbecilic remarks made on this site about Bush the war, and the troops. Most of the likes on this site would wet their pants if they had to go defend their country. They are cowards and lash out at those who are brave enough to go make a stand. They are parasites.
I don’t think some people understand what is truly going on over there.
They forget the tyranny of Saddam Hussein, the hatred of militant Muslims, the long-standing hatred hate of the Jews, etc.
Our society is media driven and the medis in the US is extremely evil and corrupted. They are accountable to no one. These people listen to them.
JM,
A liberal was in office. His name was Bill Clinton, the worst president in history who will be nothing more than an asterisk in history books. When all the dust settles, it will be determined that a great deal of this political turmoil in the Middle East was emboldened by the fact that he was a clown and didn’t take the office seriously. I mean what did he do and what is his legacy? DNA on a dress? The point is that Bill knows this and is desparately trying to find something to latch onto like his wife’s skirt. He’s really pathetic to watch on Hillary’s campaign trail. And she, well, she’s like watching paint dry.
SH Dan,
Before you fly off hook again, you’re talking to a French/Scottish man here who’s Uncle recenty had bagpipes at his funeral. The “men in shirts?” was meant as joke. So Relax.
Wow thats a first for me… Lets blame Clinton for the war in Iraq? You can say whatever you’d like hisman. I could careless. I disagree that Clinton was the “worst president in history”
Not understand what is truly going on over there? Why do you think I want our troops to COME HOME? Because I am tired of all the deaths, the pain and sadness. I knows its bad over there. Everyday on the radio I hear “20 people died in iraq today because of this… Today 30 people died” etc. My uncle was a doctor and saw the injured. It was horrible. He’ll never be the same.
George Bush’s legacy? Being a idiot thats what he’ll be known for. What’s his approval rating these days? Less than 30% I believe.
JM,
History does not judge presidents on today’s approval ratings. That’s lunacy. Presidents are judged by the affects they made on history which can only be judged, well, after a long, period of time.
Again, Clinton did nothing and made no difference. He was a perverted clown and he will be given no respect by historians. I can see how historians will be laughing their arses off when they try to make comparisons of Clinton to Truman, Reagan and Bush. Let’s see Truman brought the Japanese to their knees – Clinton brought Monica Lewinsky to her knees. Reagan ended the Cold War – Clinton needed a cold shower. Bush stemmed the tide of terrorism in the world – Clinton collected millions and became rich on the speaker circuit. What an utter loser. Someday you will understnad.
Question: How many Vietnamese were killed after the US left there in 1973? How does 850,000 sound, not to mention the 2,000,000 that were exterminated in Cambodia under Pol Pot? I lived it grasshoppa.
Go to your neighborhood Blockbluster Video and rent the movie, “The Killing Fields”. It will wrench your heart. Perhaps you’ll change your mind about our troops leaving Iraq.
And you say you’re tired of the killing? Please, please grow up before you and the millions like you who are so terribly misinformed and deceived cause the slaughter of untold millions over there.
Jane Fonda is not someone I would want to follow. She was personally responsible for millions of deaths because of what she did to this country during the Vietnam War. She knows this and I can see she carries a temendous burden of guilt for it. Don’t make the mistake of believing the same types of lies she spewed.
Wake up.
Bah, James Buchanan comes way before ANYONE in the worst president category, Clinton or otherwise.
And jasper, HisMan, I would like to note that I tried DESPERATELY to enlist in any branch of the military that would take me- while we were in the middle of a war I don’t agree with. Just because I’m a liberal doesn’t mean I don’t ‘love my country’. I was willing to enlist in spite of the fact that I knew I was probably going to be doing some things I might not agree with. I was turned away, and understandably, because of my severe vision problems, but there are plenty of soldiers who disagree with the war- I know several personally. They still believe that they are serving their country- they just don’t agree with the direction their country is going. I would like to note that one of the things that so separates America and Western Civilization from the third world is the existance of liberals, and their ability to communicate their views. That wouldn’t fly in Saudi Arabia.
“Just because I’m a liberal doesn’t mean I don’t ‘love my country’.”
I know Erin and I would like to apoligize to you, SH Dan and Lyssie….
T

Erin,
Is not your vision correctable? You can help the military as a civilian if you so choose. You don’t have to be in the military to serve ths country. Just do the best at what God has gifted you at. By the way, serving Him should be paramount in anyone’s life.
Again, What is the altenative to the Iraq War in light of the statements made by Aminejhad that he wants to wipe Israel and the US off the map?
What does 9/11 mean to you?
“I’m waiting homo, come to Boston, don’t forget, bring some friends with you.
If I were President, I’d have you all tried for sedition and sent to gitmo.”
I’ll be in Boston, Avon, and possibly Brockton if I can get my exile revoked. If you’re feeling froggy when I’m around, then jump. I don’t waste my time fighting ignorant people who insult someone for having a mind of their own. Live in the shadow of a false diety, and do whatever it is that helps you sleep at night. But, my friend, remember what I said before. I fight with honor, and I won’t bring a gun to a knife fight, so to speak. If you wanna tangle, we’ll do it like real men, one on one, bare knuckle. I would rather have violence be my last resort, but you are really starting to cross some lines…
As for you being president, HA! If you ran this country, I’d be halfway to Scotland as soon as you got inaugurated. Having our country run by a retarded ape is bad enough. If you were in office, Jasper, I’m pretty sure that within 6 months, this great nation would be nothing more than a nuclear wasteland. But, you can keep dreaming. I guess in your little world, dreams can come true…
PS Why do you and Erin need to apologise to Lyssie and I? I don’t know what Erin would need to apologize for, and I can’t make you apologize for the way you act; it shows your true colors and how you really are as a person. Hell, I respect you for your time in the armed forces. I was offered a chance to go active right after graduation from SJNMA and go to OCS, but I turned it down in favor of getting a college education. I’m still entertaining the idea, and I probably will end up enlisting after I graduate. But that’s where my respect ends. In all honesty, I think you’ve got a few screws loose and need to get back to the world of the normal before you wander off the well-beaten path that everyone in life must travel.
JM, congrats on the new job! What/who are you going to teach?
Erin/Heather/SH Dan/Lyssie, thanks, but my daughter has the most beautiful light GREEN eyes. I’ve told her I don’t understand why she wears blue contacts.
SH Dan, I do absolutely love DC. The culture, the history, the architecture, the intelligence, the patriotism, the neighborhoods, even the crazy street layouts.
Andrew, yes, we were a stone’s throw away from that evil Karl. Speaking of, when we were going through security, the guard asked if I had a grenade in my blanket. I said, “I thought we weren’t supposed to joke about things like that?” He responded, “Well, you can’t, but I can!” Bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb ba bomb.
HisMan, I’m really sorry for your tooth woes. I hope you’re feeling better today.
Cam, actually I do believe that Revolutionary War band was part of one branch of the military, likely part of another band that dressed in the garb. I forget what the announcer said. The drummers stepped forward and played a solo like in the movie Drumline, tapping all parts of their drumsticks all over the place in sync.
JM said, “Wow thats a first for me… Lets blame Clinton for the war in Iraq?”
JM, come on. Seriously, do you follow the news? We’re talking history that is only 15 years old.
JM said, “What’s [Bush’s] approval rating these days? Less than 30% I believe.”
Ah yes, over twice as high as the Democrat-led Congress, which what, these days? 14%, the lowest since Gallup began polling?
Jasper, seriously. Get a grip. You’ve either completely lost it, or are well on your merry way to doing so.
But before you call me a “cowardly liberal” or whatever creative insult you can think of, I did try to join the military, the National Guard in fact, but I was rejected due to my depression. As soon as that happened, I was no longer solicited by any of the branches of the military.
I have had classes and am friends with guys who have been to Iraq in the National Guard and the two that I know the best have said there is no amount of money that could make them want to go back to Iraq EVER again. Curious, is it not?
Jasper, I just want to tell you to revert back to one of my original posts, when I said that my boyfriend cannot and does not tell me anything that is “top secret”. I know nothing more than what any interested American concerned about the deaths of her friends in Iraq and the reasons for which they’re dying would know. It’s just my observations based on my boyfriend’s attitudes toward certain companies making a pretty penny off of his comrades’ deaths. It’s also his attitudes toward certain politicians…if there’s anyone that’s truly patriotic, it’s him. He wouldn’t be so adamantly against what’s going on if there wasn’t a blood-money issue happening. If we were ONLY there to better the world, I’m sure he would be more supportive, as would I. But one of my friends is over there as we speak and I have to wonder…how much money would his death be worth?
HisMan, I hope you don’t think I support what Jane Fonda did. She’s an abomination, saying what she did to the troops who were no more responsible for the terrible things their jobs entailed than the people that got killed accidentally in the crossfire. They were the victims, too.
I just want to say, as a disclaimer, that I love the United States as much as the next person, and want to see my country safe and sound. I love the troops, I respect and cherish their sacrifices, and I understand the reasons for which we went overseas to Iraq and Afghanistan in the first place. But I cannot keep supporting something that has a partial profit motive and is reaping those rewards upon the deaths of the troops that I care about and want home. The country is doing a serious disservice to our brave men and women when it allows a select few to gain from their ultimate sacrifices.
Hey folks,
time for a few reality checks …. HisMan re. your tooth pain try some essential oil of cloves. A few years back my brother got a hockey stick in the mouth and with it a cracked and very painful tooth. Since it was Friday evening and the dentist would not be open until Monday, it seemed like it would be a very long weekend.
His pain was numbed by rubbing with a few drops of clove essential oil – neat. Befor novocaine this was dentists #1 pain killer.
………………………
@ everybody –
I am getting sick of the silly fighting over American politics. There is right now, a process happening that plans to exterminate 3 BILLION of the world’s populace of 6.2 billion. There is much Americans can do but they MUST ACT NOW! … too many people will be dead meat if you don’t. And please do not accept the bs that you are too small to count … far too many will die – you are even blocked from assisting famine victims by Codex!
SH Dan: you are level headed (you think). As a mind exercise … remove all seniors – people over 50 … all disabled people; all children [the mind experiment will be real starting this fall.] … as of a few days ago, toxins so harmful to the environment (that by agreement they were banned from the world in 2001), were re-instated for use by Codex. They also placed no upper limit on any agricultural pesticides. The science of biochemistry just does not matter!

HisMan,
Spot on with your analysis of Clinton and the war in Iraq. Good job!
As a Gulf War I veteran, I would like to say that the rhetoric coming out of the mouths of those who know nothing about war or its surroundings is only slightly less obnoxious than those who call Bush “Hitler.”
Rhetoric is fine if it is backed up by the truth, but the whole “blood for oil” speal is stupid, pointless and unproveable and repeating it ad naseum and with capital letters does not make it true.
Besides the which, the troops deployed into combat zones in Iraq and Afghanistan overwhelmingly support their mission and see a true need to be there.
Jill enjoy DC before the evil Rove takes it over and plots its destruction!
And don’t you dare tell me that I wouldn’t be brave enough to fight and die for my country. I had seriously entertained notions of going into the military until I was offered a substantial scholarship. I have repeated numerous times to many of my friends that if the draft was reinstituted, and my brother got called to war, that I would go with him, because I’m not letting my little brother go alone. I’m an excellent markswoman, and I would probably ask to be placed in the sniping units. However, I do have vision problems without contacts/glasses, and I’d have to ask how that would affect my service. I’d be more than able to serve my country if I was allowed to wear contacts for sniping.

It also works to place a garlic clove directly on the source of the pain. Even to chew it a little. It burns a little but it takes the pain away …it’s very effective.
Same thing as what John said, basically! :)
HisMan- my vision problems are not currently correctable, no. I’m completely blind in my left eye and am losing vision in my right eye, which recently was stayed for a while by an experimental surgery. I have a disease called retinitis pigmentosa, which isn’t currently fixable.
Also, Dan, jasper, come ON. This is getting to be like that silly bickering Cam and HisMan had the other day. Threats of physical violence are ridiculous, stop acting like children.
Jill-
I will be teaching 7th grade math. Pre-Algebra mostly.
I am curious Jill, how one gets a “hat tip”. Did jasper get one for his rude, childish, hurtful and disrespectful words to several individuals who post in your blog?
Jasper at 10:30am on July 5th:
“Erin, for someone who calls our troops murderers, you don’t have much credibily anymore”
Jasper at 11am on July 5:
“Lyssie,
You’re clueless. Now why don’t go watch your Michael Moore movies for the 19th time.”
Jasper at 11:06 on July 5:
“Hey Lyssie,
Why don’t you tell the man of your dreams to start doing his job instead of talking bull****.”
Jasper at 10:39pm on July 5th:
“I’m waiting homo, come to Boston, don’t forget, bring some friends with you.
If I were President, I’d have you all tried for sedition and sent to gitmo.”
I could careless about the “hat tip” I am just wonder why the hell Jasper would get one this particular time?
I think the hat tip is to let others know where she found the article. If you posted an article and Jill posted it, she would give the hat tip to you. It is just a way to give credit to the person who found the article. :)
I’m going to go and edit out all hurtful coments.
All,
Sorry for the comments getting out of hand last night. As you know, politics can get heated. I did apoligize, then SH Dan still comes back and wants to fight…
Jasper 12:31am: “I know Erin and I would like to apoligize to you, SH Dan and Lyssie….”
I see. Thanks for clearing that up for me Bethany… I can’t wait till I get home from work this evening and go to your website… Hopefully there will be some news! :D
JM,
are you the type that went to the teacher and told on other kids when they did something wrong?
All:
It’s amazing what some sound sleep can do for the body, especially a sore tooth. Feeling better, thanks and thanks for all the alternative remedies. I will save them on my database. I would rather take a natural remedy any day over a non-natural remedy.
Lyssie:
I didn’t dare to tell you anything. I made a general comment. And the comment was derived from the (general, not yours) idiotic statements made about Bush, the war, and our troops, one of which is my dear son.
I never called you on it by name. How could I? I don’t even know you. On the other hand, why was my objective statement taken so subjectively?
SkinHead Dan and Jasper: What you are doing sounds like what Cameron and I got into a while back. It’s fruitless. I really do like Cameron, however, I like it more when he reasons rather than insults because it takes away from the point he is trying to make. I lose respect for him when he does so and I imagine the same for him when I wrongly retaliate. Give it up.
Erin:
I am so sorry to hear about your eyes. If I am not mistaken, I had a friend go to Cuba (can you believe it) where they have the only clinic in the world I think that can surgically fix this problem. If you would like I can get you more info.
@Jasper: Were you the kind of kid that belittled and mocked people who were different from yourself and when you were caught you blamed the other kids for your own crap behavior?
“Were you the kind of kid that belittled and mocked people who were different from yourself”
Rae-Rae,
actually no, I was never like that.
“But before you call me a “cowardly liberal” or whatever creative insult you can think of, I did try to join the military, the National Guard in fact, but I was rejected due to my depression.”
Rae, Erin, Lyssie, Dan,
when have I ever called anybody “cowardly” for not serving in military? I have not implied this at all and never would. I hate to bring the word up again, but this is what liberals sometimes do to people who they don’t like… (Dick Cheney).
HisMan- I would indeed love any information you can give me about that.
Erin:
Go to this site and post a question about your eye condition as to whether it can be treated in Cuba:
http://havanajournal.com/culture/entry/phacoemulsion_eye_surgery_and_other_ophthalmologic_proceedures_in_cuba/
I understand that they lead the world in the treatment of some very difficult eye diseases.
My friend Alex who successfully had this surgery about ten years ago has since moved and I don’t have his new number. However, I know a few people who probably have his new number and it seems like they’re all on vacation now. Eventually I will be able to get it and talk to him for you about the details.
I don’t necessarily like Fidel Castor’s policies but God works through all kinds of people to do good so I don’t have a problem referring you to Cuba if it can help you restore your sight.
Castro
I gotta wonder how many more people might actually partake in this thread if the prolifers weren’t so quick to take everything to the level of fisticuffs.
Cameron:
So true.
Thanks for the info, HisMan.
“actually no, I was never like that.”
@Jasper: Then what on earth happened? Because you certainly do that now.
And you have called me a coward on numerous occasions Jasper. I mean for crying out loud you think I sit around with my “Muslim boyfriend” (he was never my boyfriend, I only dated him briefly) and talk about how much fun it would be to blow up America, when that is probably the furthest thing from the truth.
I don’t like the path America has been headed, I don’t like the leadership of this country (both in the Legislative and Executive branches) but I’m not going to run away, even if another Republican gets into the White House. Sure, I won’t be too thrilled if that happens, but I sure as heck won’t abandon my country because I disagree with the leadership. It is my duty as an American citizen to criticize policies I disagree with, as dissent is the highest form of patriotism. You too are free to dissent and criticize policies, it’s your freedom after all.
“I gotta wonder how many more people might actually partake in this thread if the prolifers weren’t so quick to take everything to the level of fisticuffs.

“Cameron:
So true.
Posted by: HisMan at July 6, 2007 02:04 PM”
..go look upthread and see who discussed fighting first, a pro-lifer or a pro-choicer.
Who is Cameron to talk? lol
“I mean for crying out loud you think I sit around with my “Muslim boyfriend” (he was never my boyfriend, I only dated him briefly) and talk about how much fun it would be to blow up America”
Com’on Rae-Rae, no I dont!
“Who is Cameron to talk? lol”
Come on Beth… get your story straight. Am I spineless coward or scrappy menace to society.
@Jasper: You said that to me! Don’t bother denying it, I can go find the proof of what you said.
I need a story… gotta write a column. What’s going on with the other college kids… campus scandals, trends, etc… I can’t find any topic I think the other college kids want to read and/or is relevant.
Here Cam, write one about these stats:
Ratio of U.S. abortions to U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq: 1,588 to 1
Number of American battle deaths in all U.S. wars since 1776: 653,563
Number of abortions in the United States since 1970: 48,900,000.
Ratio of U.S. abortions to battle deaths in all U.S. wars: 74.8 to 1
Number of Americans of all ages and races murdered daily by handguns
Opinion writing rule number two: readers don’t like statistics.
spineless coward or scrappy menace to society
Both. Since you asked.
Cam,
We could all write our “Opinions” of you…that should be interesting reading…
“Opinion writing rule number two: readers don’t like statistics.”
…yea, better not let them in on the facts….
readers don’t like stats, yes maybe not a list of stats, but a couple to bring home the point for the writer always helps…
Cameron –
“Some of us will leave that up to socialigists and doctors, while you all can leave it up to your pedophile preacher men. ”
*sigh*
Still trying to change the subject huh?
The questions arent’ difficult. I just want to know your opinion.
Posted by: valerie at July 6, 2007 03:14 PM
Or you could just answer Valeries questions honestly. That would be an Opinion Piece as well as sensational…you know, shocking.
HEADLINE: CAMERON ACTUALLY ANSWERS QUESTIONS CLEARLY ENOUGH SO PEOPLE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT THE HECK HE IS TALKING ABOUT…”
Opinion writing rule number three: USE SPELL CHECK! It’s to take someone seriously when they call you retarted or suggest leaving child rearing up to the socialigists…
*hard to take someone seriously*
Hard to take them seriously when they omit words too…oops.
“Maybe not a list of stats, but a couple to
bring home the point for the writer always helps…”
Reality has inherent liberal bias.
Oh….. what it’s Val’s question now. Let me guess…. why do I want to kill babies? Sorry Val’s like the annoying toddler “why why why why why…” you just have to ignore her after awhile and hope she’ll maybe actually appreciate and consider an answer.
Cameron, you have still avoided all of her questions, Lauren’s , and Mary’s questions. You picked like one out, and you still didn’t answer it.
Yes…Of course I’ve avoided “all” the questions
;-) That’s just your convenient version of it.
I can’t find any questions here. Are you talking about the other thread, where I just wrote lengthy response answering lots of questions or otherwise explaining why they were stupid questions?
Sorry, I can only handle so much innanity/day. Maybe tommorrow I’ll not answer some more questions.
Brave Sir Cameron, he ran away…
*Sound of coconuts…*
Brave Sir Cameron ran away. No!
Bravely ran away away…. I didn’t!
When Danger reared its ugly head,
He bravely turned his tail and fled No!!
Yes brave Sir Cameron turned about I didn’t!
And gallantly chickened out..
Bravely taking to his feet
For a very brave retreat
Bravely bravely bravely bravely I never did!
Bravely bravely bravely bravely All lies!
Bravely bravely brave Sir Camaeron!
I can’t find any questions here. Are you talking about the other thread, where I just wrote lengthy response answering lots of questions or otherwise explaining why they were stupid questions?
Hmm, that’s funny, cause I didn’t see many questions answered. Granted, you answered one or two…
I did see a lot of “You’re such an idiot”, and “if you had half a brain” type comments….maybe if you could leave those types of comments out and try to post something of substance, people would be able to understand your posts a little better…and you’d most likely be better received.
Your endless repetition of the same insults gets a little boring, and I think people tend to skim your posts instead of reading them fully now that they have adjusted to your style.
tend to skim your posts instead of reading them fully now that they have adjusted to your style.
Was that skim or skip?
Hmm…well either works! I do one half the time and the other half the time!
Bethany, I just visited your blog. I am so sorry! I am having some trouble getting into my mail box for some reason, but I’ll send you an e-mail. Again, I am so very sorry.
Heather, thank you. (((hugs)))
I am actually feeling much better now. There is nothing, nothing on this earth worse than not knowing, and having to wait to know! Then going from thinking you’ve grieved your baby to thinking that you’re actually NOT miscarrying, that there’s still a baby in there, and then finding out that you might still be wrong…and then having to wait a week to know. That was a real roller coaster ride. I just wanted answers…for instance: did I need to stop hoping and grieve the baby? I didn’t know last week but I know now. Now that I know, I have to tell you, I feel a lot better. I feel the closure that I felt after I saw my other baby. I think that knowing for sure does help a lot.
Bethany, I agree.
Do the prolife regulars here have a history with misscarraige or something?
That would certainly go a long ways to explain the vehement behavior.

By the way… I am sorry about your loss Bethany.
Actually, I was going to abortion debate forums long before I had my first miscarriage…but I will admit, it made it a little more up close and personal for me, after having experienced one.
Thank you for the kind words, Cameron.
Bethany,
Sorry about your miscarriage, I know you been through alot the past several weeks. God-Bless you and your family…
Thank you, Jasper. :-)
I’ll miss all of you this week…won’t be at the computer (after tonight) until Friday or Saturday. Have a great week everyone. :)
Skinhead Dan said (yeah, I know, a long time ago): “All animals are drawn to the Scottish. We’re a very good-looking breed of human. It’s just how hot and sexy we are that scares away most humans, who cannot begin to comprehend the feelings of extreme lust and attraction they’re feeling as soon as we walk into a room.”
That is sooooo true. My boyfriend has a kilt … one word, my friends … rawr.
Leah,
How the heck are ya and where’ve ya been?
Now, MK, I’ve been wondering….you’re all about the men in kilts….does the hubby have one? *giggle*
Sorry if that’s prying. I just think there’s something more to your love of the kilts. *mischievous grin*
Kilts are amazing. No further comments needed. I do realize that no one has objected to this statement. It just needs to be said.
@MK: Where have I been? Let’s see …
I have been on a plane from Paris to Amsterdam, a plane from Amsterdam to Detroit. I have been very sick recovering from jetlag and apparently something else because I’ve never heard of anyone getting so ill over a silly 6-hour time difference. I have been emotionally preoccupied. I have been with my boyfriend. I have been to Canada. I have been in a car accident (nothing serious–I drove away an hour later WITHOUT a ticket). I have been on the phone. I have been in bed a lot. I have been to Ohio telling people about my year in France. I have been really tired. I have been far far away in my mind and in the future. I have been … it may just be easier to ask where I have NOT been.
But. All in all, I’m pretty good. Missing my kilted boyfriend but otherwise peachy. Fatigue is nothing. Life is beautiful, as always.
For those of you who are curious I cried and thanked God as I drove away untouched in my drivable car after I was in that accident. I still believe in a woman’s right to an abortion just as strongly as I believe in God.
Then I got home, called my pro-life boyfriend and told him I love him.
Leah,
So you haven’t been doin’ much lately huh?
Well, things will pick up soon…
Good Heavens Girl. Slow down you move too fast, try to make your mornings last…
Smell the roses.
And come to Jill’s site more often…
Eeeeeeeemmmmmmmm-kaaaaaaaaaaayyyy.
Hi. :)
How are you today?
Oh, man. I’m so busy. I hardly have time to check my emails.
I’m watching Jesus Christ Superstar right now. I love that movie so much. It’s just so … COOL! I mean, it was made by hippies!
I’m with you Leah, too busy! I wish I had more time to post here but I don’t have enough time to sit and read everyone else’s posts! Wish I could get in on more of the debates but I’m to busy debating with my kids! :)
GREAT PHOTOS, Jill!! Thanks SO much for sharing them with us…and for giving us an inside ‘peek’ at such a fun and memorable day at the White House!
luv,
I think that at noon each day you should tie them all up for 2 hours and come on here…then at 2:00 you can untie them and carry on as usual. Oh, and you might want to think about a gag while yer at it.
Hahaha, MK…
I agree with tying the chitlins up….sometimes little kids drive me insane. There was this one screaming in a restaurant the other day, and I was extremely angered at the parents for not even doing ANYTHING about it. They let the kid sit there and scream, without taking him outside or attempting to calm him down.
*strangles idiot parents*
*gags little kid*
*enjoys dinner in peace*
Boy, am I a fan of spanking. There will be spankings when my kids are acting up. And beatings for the hell of it for my sanity. (just kidding, MK)
Weren’t you the one who said Cameron keeps you from beating your children so often? *giggle*
I say forget about strangling and gagging…just put ’em on the menu and be done with it!
I’m glad you enjoyed them, Debbie D.!
